For lunch I chose a you-pick-two: a taco with tender and moist chicken; and a ground beef burrito that was wonderfully seasoned. Tasty refried and Spanish rice were included though the rice leaned to being overcooked. The meal was generously portioned and could have been split between not so hungry diners. Service could have been higher for a place that didn't seem too busy. The order was taken by someone I never saw again, my meal was delivered by someone else, and when I needed a drink refill I had I to signal a third staffer for that. A little bit disappointing overall, starting with some extremely stale chips and salsa which bordered on inedible. From there, the Shrimp Chimichanga was as expected - not spectacular, but acceptable. Stopped in for a late dinner. Most places in the area close at 10PM for a sit down restaurant. It was just before that when I arrived and was going to sit at the bar and have a beer and some dinner. Apparently the bar area closes first with preclose and was told that was basically off limits and the bartender was cleaning her area. Grabbed a table and was helped with good service. The menu had several options but it seemed many offerings had an American spin to them. I ended up ordering fajitas which I NEVER have ordered in My 56 years of living. Perfect margarita to have when it's blazingly hot out - fresh blueberries, orange & lime slices surround a perfect edible orchid. The right amount of salt rimmed easily supported the mix! It's Fajita Tuesday here so I opted for the steak fajita - generous portion of steak and peppers served on hot cast iron & accompanied by refried beans, rice, guacamole,sour crème and pick de gallo- all except the pico were generous portions. The fajita unfortunately was over salted and under seasoned- no heat at all, and oddly no hot sauce on the tables. Service was good- prices also. I was craving a chicken taco salad. We were heading back home and remembered seeing this place when we ate lunch. So hubby pulls off the interstate and heads to Los Rancheros. It's too early for dinner but we're both hungry so there ya go! The place is really nice. It had a large dining room and it's decorated in the usual Mexican flair. We were seated quickly at a nice booth and our server was right there to ask about drinks. The next minute a basket of chips and a cup of salsa was delivered to our table. The salsa was good, the chips were good, but not excellent. I'm seriously picky about chips and salsa. Hubby got a burrito and devoured it, saying how good it was. Of course I got the chicken taco salad! It was so fresh and yummy. I really enjoyed it. We had a lovely meal with great service and delicious food. The only downside and the reason for four stars and not five is the ambiance music. It was Mexican rap. I didn't even know there was such a thing but it's awful. lol. It's a wonderful thing to be retired. Camping at the Lake Lou Yeager in Litchfield, Illinois on a Tuesday! Perfect! Had some things to pick up in town and I should mention that it's 96 degrees outside. Not a day for campfire cooking but a really good day for a margarita and Mexican in a nice air conditioned place. The margarita is wonderful by the way. The food is good. Not great. Pretty standard Mexamerican fare. The fajita meat was bland. The rest was just pretty standard. We showed up to this location and we were told that they couldn't seat 6 people at 7:15pm when THEIR website says they close at 9pm. Their customer service sucked, they just said "google makes up whatever time it wants" That's BS! I have a screenshot of their EXACT WEBSITE SAYING IT CLOSES AT 9PM! New for us place. We go through Litchfield every week and wanted something besides fast food so tried Los Rancheros. Nicely themed restaurant with tables placed a reasonable distance apart. Friendly quick drinks and chips/salsa service. Hubby had Rancheros Cheesesteak and I had the Enchiladas Suiza. Large helpings served with rice and beans. Both very tasty. Met a small group for dinner tonight at Los Rancheros. The interior is very nicely decorated, with special touches on the walls and tables to invite you in. They also had music playing for a perfect ambience. Although this style of Mexican food isn't my favorite (I do prefer baja by far), I appreciate their commitment to quality eating. Boyfriend and I are on the road and noticed this place had a good review on google. We do Mexican every tuesday so we've been to our fair share of Mexican restaurants and by far this is one of the best. We had great service. The waitress checked up on us regularly. The food was by far the best and tasted like Mexican food you could get from California. It's hard to find that out here in illinois. The serving sizes were huge and well worth the price. I'm a very picky eater and usually dont eat salsa, but the salsa here was amazing. The small margarita was huge, most places would consider the size a medium or a large. I'm drunk as I write this. Our family stopped here on a Sunday evening on our way home from the STL area. We were unsure if they would be open because their Facebook page said that they closed at 7pm on Sunday, their website said 9pm and the door at the restaurant said 10pm. We arrived a little after 7pm and were relived to see that they were open. The establishment was very nicely decorated and extremely clean, including the bathrooms. The menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. Service was a little slow and it took awhile to get our food. Our waitress informed us that there was a mishap in the kitchen and that they were a little behind. It was well worth the wait though because the food was amazing! I had the veggie taquitos. They were so fresh and flavorful. The mushrooms and spinach were delicious and fresh (not frozen like many places). And, pickled red onions on top? Awesome!! It was nice to be able to get a fresh vegetarian dish not dripping in cheese! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the confusion on trying to figuring out their hours.
