three tacos on a white plate

Excellent, delicious Mexican food in Carlinville! The street tacos were fantastic and took me back to the streets of San Diego. They're truly authentic with that delicious corn taste, perfectly fried carnitas, and fresh cilantro and onion. Loved every bite! Not to mention, our server was super friendly and kept us well-stocked with water, chips and salsa! My kind of place!!

Great place. Consistently good. Very clean restaurant. No greasy plates here. Friendly, prompt and efficient service. If you share your food dilema - mine was that I like larger than average salads - they'll try to accomodate you. Delicious Salsa & chips. Each night there's a special, e.g. taco Tuesdays - $1 a taco, pulled chicken or ground beef with a non-greasy crispy shell. 4 tv flat screens, 1 on each wall, so you can keep up with the playoffs. There is no 'bar pushing margaritas yet they do have margaritas with tequila. ', This is a family friendly restaurant with lots of booths and tables.

The ambiance is plain and simple, no thrills. It's a large room filled with tables and booths. There's no bar. Their beverages range from fountain Coke, bottled Fritz's Premium Soda Pop and Lemonade. We all giggled when they served three small sleeves of saltine crackers. Why three, wouldn't one have been enough? None of us are fans of saltines, each of us commented we prefer oyster crackers for our chili or soups. There were three of us and we all ordered the same thing. We each ordered a single taco and a small chili. When our orders of chili were placed in front of us, each of them had a thin layer of grease on top. Not wanting to disappoint the other two diners, we each kept silent about the gross appearance until we were finished and outside the restaurant. Once outside we all commented how flavorless and greasy the chili was. It had a burn, but it was not from a robust chili flavor. The taco was plain and simple in a soft tortilla. It too was nothing to write how about, but it a lot better then the chili. The service was good for a chili parlor. I kind of felt sorry for the server, there was only one and she was hustling taking care of the entire dining room. Will I return? - No, we all had heartburn after dining. When: December 6, 2019 Why: Lunch before shopping the holiday market.

The ambiance was very pleasant, everything was clean, service was great and, best of all, the food was delicious. I lived in San Diego for 20 years, ate and loved a lot of fish tacos while there so I ordered (grilled) fish tacos with a side of black beans. They did not disappoint, best fish tacos I've had since leaving San Diego. The fish was perfectly cooked, the seasonings were great, the corn tortillas hot and fresh, and they had a nice assortment of sauces. The avocado lime sauce paired perfectly with the fish. I'm not a huge black bean fan but these were really tasty. My wife is a picky eater, not big on Mexican food beyond the traditional seasoned ground beef so she got the traditional soft taco (seasoned ground beef, lettuce, cheese) and she loved it, even the cheese, probably a queso fresco but not sure. Oh, and the basket of tortilla chips served with salsa, they were great too. Still hot from the fryer, they were thick and crispy and the salsa was nice with just a little kick. We love this place and will return whenever we're in the area. I'm hoping to convince them to make me a "surf & turf" type burrito with carne asada and shrimp.
