The food was phenomenal -- specifically, the carne asada. There is usually a line to order and then it's first come first serve for seating, making it a bit challenging but very worth it! Once you sit down, they bring chicharrones to your table and they'll yell out your name when your order is ready and you raise your hand for them to bring the food to you. We also enjoyed some aguas frescas on a hot summer day and the churros were a perfect dessert! I will absolutely be coming back next time I'm in town, and hopefully the weather is a bit cooler so we can enjoy the patio.

Being from San Diego we know good carne asada and TJ-style tacos/burritos...and Tacos Frontera is…read morewhere it's at!! While visiting family in Houston we were excited to come across a "real" Mexican (as opposed to Tex-Mex...iykyk) taco shop. As soon as you walk in and see the Tijuana and Baja Mexico signs and decor you know you're in the right place. There's an open kitchen, allowing you to watch your carne being grilled on the open-flame grill. That charged meat smell is heavenly! Their guac is chunky and simple (nothing too fancy), hot sauces are tasty (and they have a kick!), tortillas are thin but strong -- holding the goods in just right. It's also nice that they have complimentary tasty, crispy pork rinds -- as opposed to the standard chips & salsa. Portions are ample! They definitely don't skimp -- tons of meat and guac in their tacos and huge, meaty burritos! Prices are fair, especially for what you get! Their dining room is a tad small, but it's very clean and the a/c is good...there's also a nice patio outside. Service was swift and friendly. Food was good. A/C was poppin'. Parking was plentiful. All in all I have to admit that Tacos Frontera comes as close to good San Diego Mexican food as you can get...they would definitely be able to hold their own in San Diego!

They do have a happy hour on their margaritas and they do serve breakfast I decided to try their fried shrimp and fish platter, which was their daily special and it was good. It was freshly made, very tasty, and you got a lot for your money. The breading on the fish and shrimp, was like a cornmeal batter. We also had one of their bigger burritos and it was stuffed. They did not skimp on any of the food and add-ons to this burrito. What are the nice things about this restaurant was due to my food allergies I had some questions and they were so kind and friendly. They answered every question I needed and I felt like they cared about my food allergies. I do think they need to expand their menu a little bit as far as some foods without so many spices in it and other items for people like me who do you have the food allergies but this will not stop me from coming back. I want to try their breakfast because it looked phenomenal. If you were looking for a smaller quaint, Mexican restaurant, with sports on TVs and really good deals on margaritas, this is the place for you. Or

I really wanted to try an assortment of tacos, but they wouldn't allow me to - I even offered to pay a premium.
