The dining room is bright, tasteful, spacious and by the looks of the lighting gear suspended from the ceiling there is live music in the evening on weekends? The background music was Mexican however was a little loud. Just turn it down slightly so people can talk to each other. They only had one server on a Sunday that I noticed seemingly covering 10+ tables plus the register. He was busy to say the least. Chips and salsa are $3 so pass if you don't need them. I ordered the Chile Relleno platter. I finished my basket of chips as it took nearly 25 minutes to get my meal. They compensated with an extra entree. The food was good. Don't give up. The menu had some new items that other Mexican restaurants have, but none of the regular fare was included. Food ok just ok. Ordered my meal without beans, but came with beans. We weren't checked on until our meals were eaten. The food and drinks are overpriced. And we got charged $2 for chips and salsa. What!? They didn't ask if we wanted it or the refill. If you're going to charge for it, ask if we want it for a charge. I will probably give them another chance, but it's going to be quite awhile. read more

I ordered take out here on a Sunday evening and got the pastor burrito bandera platter which ended up running me about 17 bucks. I forgot to take a picture but the food itself wasn't anything special at first glance. About a half cup of rice and and half cup of beans along with about a tablespoon and a half of guacamole. The burrito itself was quite large and had a little bit of salsa verde and salsa roja on it along with maybe a tablespoon of cheese sauce. It honestly looked a little sad. I kept my hopes up as I wanted to hold off until I actually ate the food. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The burrito was flavorless and the pieces of pork did not taste like anything. Everything was so under seasoned. I had to add my own hot sauce to add a bit of flavor to what ended up being a depressing Sunday dinner. I felt like for 17 dollars, this meal was incredibly overpriced and under flavored. The burrito itself was mostly rice and they did not even add any salsa or hot sauce to the meal. If you want to add salsa it's another 2 dollars which is quite frankly ridiculous given the price point of the meal. I really do not like giving negative reviews especially as I know restaurants are struggling during this time, but I think this was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in months. Excellent lunch! Wife had the Quesadilla plate, I had Enchiladas Verdes. This isn't ordinary Tex-Mex. Quesadilla was homemade, light and crispy, served folded over steak and fillings. Enchiladas was in an excellent tomatillo green sauce, plenty of chicken, rice and beans on the side of both dishes. Service was quick, accurate and friendly. Highly recommended. read more

The decor here is extraordinario, for sure. Stunning, really. Must have cost a fortune. But, one cannot eat decor. A simple truth generally ignored. This place reminds me I need to accelerate work on a product I'm developing that would enhance the typical dining experience in Rochester--a portable, battery-powered microwave. With one, you could heat up your food as soon as it's delivered to the table. No need to check. You know it will be lukewarm at best, perhaps even ice cold. This is an expensive place. To get lukewarm food here, as I did today, is totally unacceptable. Unless improvements are made, this place won't last long. read more

Four of us dinned on Wednesday evening at 4:30, as we observed there was only one waiter on staff for all the tables, 8 at one time as we saw. He was host, cashier, go-go order taker, he spent a lot of time on t he phone, he was stretched thin. We all ordered different items and kinda shared all. Food was amazing, flavorful and abundant, quality was off the chain. They need to fix their chip policy, which you can read about on other review. Its kinda of a scam if you ask me. Our waiter just brought out 2 basket of chip and 2 salsa, we never ordered them so when they came we thought they changed policy based on past reviews, salsa was world class. Anyway the slow service we understand in the days of Covid, but the chips!!!! When we asked about any charge for the chips he said yes there was; we asked this question after we got the bill and paid. our waiter was so busy he forgot to put them on the bill, thank goodness. The 5 stars if for the food and forgetting the charge for the chips; beware of the chips. As a chef myself, a tip, never complain about anything until you get your entree. Walked in at 630pm, and the place was empty. Opened the menu and realized why. It was too expensive. Chips were great . Our family of four gobbled that basket up quick. Without being asked, the server brought us more chips. After getting the check, we found out that they charge 2 bucks for that and $3.74 for a soda with no refills...on a fountain drink! Of course, we didn't realize that there were no refills...on a fountain drink until the check came. Twenty-four bucks for a mixed fajita. I was thinking that since we were the only ones in there, they would make the best plate of fajitas that they ever made in an effort to win us as repeat customers. NOPE. They were either grossly overcooked or reheated atop a bed of oily peppers and what was once onions. Ouch, I couldn't even find the steak in there. The place looks great, but I really wish we would have walked out when we saw the prices. I was mad at myself for paying so much for below average food. They need to get back to the basics, start over, and not be so stingy. The 5 dollar desserts were good. The chips were fantastic, but they gotta figure out a way to include them as part of the meal/experience. They gotta figure out why the restaurant is empty. Very modest storefront near a few hotels. Inside, very traditional 'Mexican' decor as imagined and expected by gringos who have little experience with Mexican cuisine. I have eaten Mexican foods from Guatemala to Calgary , but have never experienced pricing such as these guys expect. 'Street' tacos have ranged from cheap to pricey, and some of the best have been the cheapest. A plate of four here run $22, as did my wife's carne asada. With sodas and chips with salsa, our lunch totalled over sixty dollars. The waitress was less than attentive, not volunteering refills of drinks, nor checking back with us after delivering the meal. We did not feel that this place earned our return business. Had the quality of the meal matched the exorbitant prices, we might feel otherwise, but this time was not a winner! read more

Absoltely horrible experience. For starters, our waitress was 8 years old. No joke. Labor law? I asked for the trio dip (queso, salsa, bean dip) and to replace the bean dip with guacamole- she said yes - when it was delivered there was no guacamole and yet the bean dip remained. It was 3 pm in the afternoon and the music was blaring. The chips were deep deep deep fried. All of the dips were freezing and the queso was like jello. I had the tostadas that came with chicken. Mine had many pieces of chicken skin. Ew. To top everything off the meal was $60. Ridiculous for the worst Mexican I have ever had. Also the first Mexican restaurant that doesn't auto serve chips. Dined there for first time over the weekend. The food was DELICIOUS! The flavors were great. My husband had the taco platter and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the Tiacoyos, and those were super yummy too! The chips were fresh, with just the right amount of salt and the salsa was fresh and yummy. A little skeptical about trying out this restaurant at first cause there are not very many great mexican places in Rochester but we were definitely pleasantly surprised! The waiter was super friendly and responsive. We ordered the red chili pork quesadillas and the chicken enchiladas rojas and both were so amazing and fresh. A lot of the time when you get beans and rice, they are overcooked or obviously left in a warmer for a while but these were so fresh and tasted awesome! The food is good but the wait is absolutely ridiculous. They're extremely slow and unorganized. They had two little girls trying to figure out everyone's orders. There was was a crown of us waiting for our orders for an extended period of time. They told us our food would be ready in 30 min, we came 15 minutes after our meal should have been ready to go (so 45 min after we called). We got here and they had us waiting another HOUR before coming to us to say they never wrote our order down. Absolutely unacceptable. Service was good, but the food, not so much. They asked if we would like some chips and salsa, I said yes and asked if they had a white cheese dip. She brought a small basket of chips, which were good and a 3 way dish with salsa, beans & the cheese dip. The way it was served I figured that's what they always serve. No, I was charged $1.99 for chips & salsa & $2.99 for cheese dip. The salsa was not good. It certainly wasn't fresh. It tasted like it had been frozen and thawed out. Their menu is very strange. A lot of things I haven't heard of before (I have eaten a lot of Mexican food) and it lacked a lot of the usual Mexican fare. I usually order a chimichanga, which was not on the menu, I asked about it and was told to order a burrito and ask for it fried. Seriously? My daughter ordered chicken fettuccine Alfredo. Yup, Alfredo at a Mexican restaurant. The chicken was awful. It was like all the pieces you normally don't eat. Gross. My chimichanga had lettuce inside of it and then cooked. Ewww.
