Meet for lunch the other day with a good friend and he recommended that we try Los Gauchitos located off Flagler and 42nd Ave. The cuisine here is Argentinian and Uruguayan which you will find all types of grilled meats. To start we ordered a beef empanadas, which was baked filled with ground beef. The exterior of the empanadas was buttery while the filling was well seasoned. For the main entree I went with the blood sausage sandwich with fries. The bread was fresh but I was a little underwhelmed with the blood sausage it more on the bland side and way too greasy for my taste. Los Gauchitos has been a Flagami institution for years. After decades on NW 7th west of Le Jeune, the Argentinian Uruguayan restaurant moved to its new spot right on Le Jeune a few years ago. Even though I don't eat beef, there are still so many good bites here. Provoleta, ensalada rusa, pollo con champiñones, their pastas, and of course the delicious Chaja. My dad is a big fan. He pops in often for a parrilla, a cold beer, and a soccer game. The food is consistently good, the waitresses like Karelys, are genuinely sweet, friendly, and the vibe is just easy. Doing the rounds with my local salesman Carlos and he asked if I felt up for an adventure. This was my first experience with food from Uruguay. It was awesome. Now I am not sure about my translation but the string looking pieces were bovine intestine? (Tastes like liver?? Not bad)Not sure. The sweet bread is sort of like the bovine jowl. Delicious!! There were two sausages that were very tasty and some spareribs??. Then also sirloin steak that was phenomenal. So delicious. There was also chicken but I didn't eat any of it. So much. Then for sides we had Russian potato salad which was very refreshing and plantain that was also scrumptious. Service was very good and friendly. The building is an old Pizza Hut building that has been freshened up and decorated in a South American style. Travel TV was playing. Great food and service with ample parking. read more

I came here for dinner on a Monday night. I had a Groupon that was gifted to me. The overall value of the Groupon was good it was essentially appetizer, parrillada, and a shared dessert for $25. I love Argentinian so I had high hopes but left feeling like I'm not too sure I'd come back. They let us know they they had run out the empanada appetizer and would have to make some from scratch. That was fine, but it did take a very long time and they didn't offer alternatives. In the mean while we were freezing because the AC was on blast. I ordered a pineapple juice that tasted very watery, I didn't enjoy it. Empanada was okay. The parrillada was pretty underwhelming, lacked flavor, and didn't get much flavor from the grill either. I had to use a lot of chimichurri to enjoy it. We then shared a small flan which was good, not sure if it's made there. It was very slow, and service really wasn't great either. The servers were nice, but I was parched after waiting for a refill on my water the entire time, and after such an underwhelming experience I just wanted to get out of there. We were visiting relatives in the Flagami neighborhood when I remembered an article I'd read about Los Gauchitos, which was only 2 blocks away. On a Monday afternoon, we were seated right away by a cheerful staff. Food was easy to order on Kindle-like video menus that displayed in Spanish and English. Mini-rolls came out nice and warm right away. I had a Polar beer, a Venezuelan beer I hadn't seen in awhile. The food came out pretty quickly. I had the mini mixed grill. The sausage was flavorful, the chicken moist and tender, and the picaña succulent and cooked to perfection. My wife was very pleased with her entraña as well, remarking on the "fresh off the parilla " taste. My side of fried yuca was pretty bland, however with a creamy cilantro sauce provided upon request for dipping, the bland became delicious. The owner, Luis Sanchez, came by to say "Buen Provecha " and to check that everything was good. He was very cordial and offered us a free dessert. The dessert, called chaja, was a delicious cross between cake and dulce de leche I'd never experienced before. The restaurant also serves as a mart for Argentinian and Uruguayan food and drink. It is a former Pizza Hut that's been repurposed, so I took off a star for ambiance. However, the caliber of the food and hospitality of the staff is top notch. I'm going to tell my relatives about Los Gauchitos, and will definitely go there again when I come to visit. read more

I'm with another user on this one that stated that without a Groupon, I would have never known this place existed. I'm vegetarian, so even less of a chance that I would have randomly come here. Guess what? It was a pleasant surprise. Melanie our waitress was efficient and helped me and my guess make good decisions for us. They have a really extensive menu and I highly recommend the linguini with mushrooms. They are a mix of flavours from Uruguay and Argentina. Bread was served hot and fresh, the provoleta was really nice. After your meal you can have a plethora of desserts, most if not all are shown behind a glass shelf so you know exactly what you are getting. Plenty of parking here so no sweat finding a spot. Prices are what you would expect at other similar restaurants. Staff was friendly and they have selected groceries from the home country. It's all good. read more

We liked empanadas and side, I wish grilled meat was hotter. They were just warm. My husband enjoyed everything. It was not a busy night so the service was quick and friendly. This resaturant has been around for almost 30 years, their old location was torn down for redevelopment, I am sure they will do great at this new location. We used the Groupon deal and was a terrific value, but sure I will go back because their menu prices were reasonable and terrific service. The Parrillada was great, 3 ate from the 2 person parrillada. Warning about the chunchulines that comes with parrillada, they are actually the small intestine of beef cattle, I am sure a lot of people like them, we didn't and server said next time you can substitute for another meat. Revisited this restaurant and decided to dine in. What a lovely surprise. The venue is nice and the restaurant is clean and cozy. They offered a delicious parrillada and they are known for been a steak house. The cuts of the meats were great, the chicken was very flavorful and the sides had fresh ingredients. Owened by Venezuelans, who would had thought ! I certainly thought this was Uruguayan or Argentinean owned. I ate there and ordered to go a couple of days later. Everything was made to perfection. The meat was delicious, perfect amount of Salt. I ordered medium rare and received medium rare. The ensalada rusa was the best I had in a long time. Their sangria was great. The second time around I had matambre and it was delicious and so was the postre Chaja. Definetly will come back next time I'm in Florida. read more

Gnocchis came out steaming hot and the pink sauce was absolutely delicious. A bit too al dente for me, but that's just me. They make everything to order on the spot so you can ask for it to be cooked just a bit more if you prefer. Asking for Jaime is an absolute must. I was disappointed I had ordered the entrańa sandwich and fries. Unfortunately the brioche bread and sandwich was cold and the bread disintegrated while trying to eat it. I decided to eat the meat with the fries (which funny enough were hot) I felt for the price/money I would get a better quality sandwich. I noticed another customer wanting their meat cooked a little more and asking for a change of sides. This is not to blame the waitresses but maybe the cook needs to be instructed on what is medium- medium well and well done is --not to mention warming up the bread....As to waiting time to be plated it was at least 15-20 minutes and the restaurant was less than half full. If they can fix this issue this restaurant would be a hit because the ambiance is nice. read more

We traveled from California and wanted to try something that we couldn't find at home. Los Gauchitos came up in my search so we decided to try it. The menu looked interesting so we asked our server to bring the dinner for one and we'd try everything. It was very good and a great experience. Jaime was an amazing host and server and explained everything we were eating. The flavors were very good. For the sides, we tried the rice/bean and fries (he told us the Cuban name but I can't remember). We finished off with an out of this world homemade dessert. If you want an experience with Cuban food, go there! If you already know you like those flavors, then definitely visit. It was the perfect first dinner for our first night in Miami. read more

Staying in the Sonesta hotel and this was one of the closer restaurants. It has much better reviews on google but based on the yelp ratings I was concerned to go here. But the people on google were right that this place is tasty. We went for dinner and ordered the entrana, the picana, napolitana, and fettuccini con hongos. All of us really liked the food. The entrana and picana were excellent and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. The beans were fantastic. We just returned from TCI and we ate at some of the top TripAdvisor restaurants while there and this ranks as the second best dinner that we had over the last week. The weird thing is I saw reviews for and online that you can get pizzas here but there are no pizzas on the sit down menu. Interesting. Also they do charge an 18% service fee but for us the customer service was good so that wasn't an issue. read more

Omg, where to start? Signs and signals coming from everywhere screaming, Don't eat heeere.... but nooooo my brain was not functioning because i was so hungry. The mall where this restaurant/bakery is situated is literally falling apart and filthy- mostly, closed storefronts but for this pioneer restaurant, and a couple of nail salons. We walk in and we are slapped with a sewer stench. We are quickly seated not giving us time to process and so we order: Chicken Milanesa and the included two sides- we selected fried tostones and Caesar salad. And, skirt steak plus the included two sides- i got the Russian salad and french fries. The first bite of my super chewy steak had an odd taste, as if it had been near or stored in a place with cleaning agents- i decided to cut into the other end which was soooo salty i could not continue- simultaneously, my partner's chicken was soooo so salty it had to be returned. Not to mention, the previously fried and later refried plantains- that we also exchanged for another side. The food was downright bad. The waitress was kind enough to remove the chicken milanesa without us asking, but charged the two included sides- odd way of removing a dish from the ticket but well, its ok. Sadly, Los Gauchitos was one of my favorite places 20 years ago. From the mall to the sewer stench to the bad food ugh - bad food day. Just awful. read more

I was super excited about this place but they didn't deliver. When we got there, there was a big group celebrating a birthday and the waiter told us he would come take the order and he took forever. He was clearly overwhelmed- then I went to the main counter where the bakery is and ordered some empanadas and kept waiting for the waiter. Finally one lady came and took my order. Not the waiter that said he would come. The food took forever to come. When it came, it was just ok. We ordered an hamburguesa gauchito and a spaghetti. Nothing special and delicious. The service really lacks. I was speaking Spanish to see if they would treat me better but it was clear that it didn't matter. At the end an 18% gratuity was included automatically in the bill. So not deserving. No one ever came to check on us. I almost felt discriminated against because we were not Hispanic looking or not Hispanic enough. At the end I asked if they were Argentinians running the restaurant and none of them are. Maybe that explains the food??? It's also located in a not so nice shopping strip. Super weird and ran down. Don't go- waste of time and $$$$ not even the empanadas are good. They are not friendly. read more

We went to their new location on 200 NW 42nd Ave. We ordered Chivito al Plato. The beef, bacon, ham and egg were good. The cheese tasted off of which tasted like American cheese. I asked the waitress what type of cheese was used and she asked the chef. Confirmed that it was American Cheese. She agreed with us that this Uruguayan classic dish takes Mozzarella cheese and I would even accept provolone or blend of both. This needs to be corrected ASAP. It changes the taste completely and they should feel embarrassed about it. The waitress was nice and did a good job and the ambience was fine. Prices for Parrillada options are out of control, way too pricey. For those prices I'd go to an all you can eat Brazilian steakhouse. read more
