I've only tried the Salvadoran selections (it's not hard to find decent Mexican, after all) but it's all been fantastic! Been here once before and it wasn't bad. Came back for a bday occasion and the service was definitely lacking a lot. Never got a second cup of water even after seeing them walk around with a jug. The food was definitely mediocre. My burrito was very plain with little flavor and the enchilada was definitely just a soggy tortilla with chicken. The sauce was very weird, almost like some pasta sauce. Most likely won't come back nor recommend it, I do know others enjoy it just not for me. I have been here pretty much every time I pass through Salem. Literally some of the best food I've ever eaten. My favorite is the arroz con pollo. It's my test dish for Latin restaurants, and you should make it yours too. Next time I'll add some photos. read more

I'm not really sure why I haven't reviewed this place yet! I am SUCH A FAN!!! This seriously is as good as it gets for service and food! This is the one place where I try to order something new or ask the owner what she recommends every time. The mango margaritas??? Ummm, yes please! The salsa? Yum! I just love this place. Love at first bite. My my my! Was in town for work and we all went here. My anything-south-of-the-border outlook on food is pretty critical being from Texas. This place delivers. My wife and I visited this establishment once in the past and decided to give it another go last night, here are my findings... FOOD: The food options here include the regular Mexican food fare as well as some Salvadorian options that I think most palettes might find enticing. The quality and freshness of the food is always good. The preparation methods of the food here is definitely different from other Mexican places in Salem/Keizer - I would say that most of the food here seems to be prepared a bit on the lighter side, by that I mean nothing is greasy, as it tends to be at similar establishments... also, they are the only Mexican restaurant in the area that has a little kick to the salsa, and I thank them for that. SERVICE: The service here is always top notch, very friendly and the owner always remembers you, even if its been months/years since you've been in. AMBIENCE: similar(ish) to other Mexican restaurants in the area but I'd say a bit more cozy. BEER/LIQUOR: They have a great cadillac margarita, and they have a nice variety of "Mexican" beers(bottled). they do not have a bar area but the margaritas surpass most others in the area. ALL-IN-ALL: If you want a slightly different preparation of your favorite mexican food, stop in and give it a shot. read more

I placed an order by phone for a large side of beans and an order of salsa to go. I went in to pick it up, was charged $12 and change. When I got home, I realized there was no salsa. I was hungry and tired and not going out again, but I called the restaurant. No one answered, I tried 3 times leaving a voicemail the last time. No response. I sent an email, also no response. Unique food choices in a cozy atmosphere with outgoing staff. Sometimes I worry with a large menu that there are a lot of meh items and nothing superb. Not the case! Usually my husband and I agree on a meal and split it but we were hoping the food was as delicious as it looked, so we ordered several things. It was amazing! We had a mix of items including Platanos Fritos con Crema, Pupusa Revuelta and Camarones Monterey. The chips were crispy and the salsa was flavorful and spicy, just the way we like it. We have found a new favorite spot to go; it is worth the drive. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

I live in Orange County now and every time I come to Oregon I HAVE to visit Theresa and her family. This time though during thanksgiving I came when they were closed but I hadn't seen them in so long and Theresa and her family let my boyfriend and I come in. She always knows what my favorite dish is and I am beyond grateful that she let us in even though she was closed, we had our own private dinner and the best part was that I got to see her and her daughter. I love coming here and can't rave about it enough. She treats me like family and takes care of my family that lives in salem. This is one of the reasons I would want to move back to Oregon but.....I can't give up the 80 degrees and where I live, it's paradise 24/7....but mayyyybeeee they could open up a restaurant down here ;) read more

This is one our favorite places to chow down in Keizer. Mama Maria has brought authentic Salvadorian food to our neighborhood and it is delicious. I truly do not believe you will find better Mexican or Salvadorian food within the Willamette Valley! Upon entering this time around, I noticed that they have made some recent décor improvements, with the typical festivities and feel of your typical Mexican restaurant. The owner (who always seems to be there) is absolutely fantastic. She's friendly, fun, remembers most of her patrons, and she was super sweet to my infant son. She also seems passionate about the food that is served (she frequently makes menu suggestions, some of which aren't yet on the menu.) I looked at the menu anyhow, considering that they have a large and wonderful selection of Salvadorian and Mexican dishes.This time around, I took one of her suggestions and ordered some sort of Chicken enchilada in a lovely spinach cream sauce. While waiting for that to arrive, we had the normal bean dip (it is spectacular here) and salsa (also drool-worthy) and chips. I have absolutely no complaints, although I would be slightly happier if the chips were a bit salted. Once the food arrived, I was in heaven. I don't think I have ever (out of the THOUSANDS of restaurants I've eaten at) had better food. Note - When you find yourself using every bit of rice on your plate, chips left in the bowl, etc, to soak up every last drop of sauce on your plate (because it's just too good to let go)....You KNO IT'S GREAT FOOD! If licking your plate wasn't frowned upon, I would have licked it clean. All in all, it's a clean, fun, and DELICIOUS dining experience that I highly recommend to anyone! WE saw great reviews on here and thought we would give it a go. . To be honest as soon as we walked in there seemed to be some confusion and the server didnt really know what to do for the first few seconds. We blew this off..and got our table..long wait then water came..we were ready to order but server drifted away. 5 more minutes comes back we order. We wait for quite a while..then our food comes..except its the main course and not the appetizers. I can see its chaotic with people standing everywhere so decided not to speak ( then we never saw her again until the bill came)..and if they had the appetizer waiting out back we would take it to go. The food itself was very nice my first taste of El Salvadoran food..i really wanted a Salvadoran beer..but seeing the non existent service i shut up. Ok we finish our food and we wait and wait and wait for our bill..30 minutes then some guy comes by and puts it on the table. Have to say i was totally disappointed..this could be a cool place. But really get your servers up to speed....even during the meal we never had our waters or ice tea filled. Maybe this is just a :"locals" place and the rest are ignored. We had salvadorean food the night before after we underestimated the drive time it would take us from Seattle to Portland. The place we went to tho doesn't even get close to Los Dos Hermanos food selection and friendly service. I was surprised when friends mentioned a salvadorean restaurant in their neighboorhood of Salem which is quite a ways from Portland. Willing to try just about everything once we went for lunch and it didn't disappoint us. The owner also waits on the tables and it's a cute little place. I really liked their decorations. They serve both mexican and salvadorean dishes and have quite a big selection. Our friends never had salvadorean food so this was a good way to try it. The plates are really big. I had the camarones acajutla and they were very good. The plate is served with rice and beans and the shrimp were prepared with onions, bell peppers and tomatoes. The price for four was very reasonable and we'd love to come visit this place again. read more

The food was good, I was expecting more typical Americanized Mexican food but it wasn't so I was a bit thrown off by that but, it is good to expand your pallet and this was a good location for that. Pretty small restaurant and I liked the decor but the food just wasn't what I was expecting. Lots of pulled/shredded meat in the dishes (I got a burrito and my wife had a taco dish) but I'm not really crazy about shredded meat except for at BBQ joints. This is the first Salvadoran restaurant I've been to so maybe it's not totally accurate to compare it to straight Mexican dishes.
