This was my first time there, so wasn't sure what to expect. First of all, the margaritas are way overpriced and probably the worst in Salem. $14 for 16 ounces, and it tasted like pure mix. Nothing fresh about it at all, very disappointed and regretted ordering it. I was hoping for that price it would be fresh and delicious, it wasn't. Service was not great, not very attentive. If I could give this less than 1 star I would! This place is the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to! The chips and salsa are not homemade, totally store bought. I ordered the chicken enchilada el creama. The tortillas were the very small ones, not even regular size. The chicken in it was not shredded chicken like it should be, it was small cubed chicken out of a can!!! Tasted horrible. We ordered Cadillac margaritas that tasted like pine sol, and had a weird taste. No good. I ordered fresh guacamole, and it came out creamy, Not fresh avocados. It was store bought guacamole that they cut some onions into it. It was slimy and no good. YUCK! The service was bad, they lied about the freshness of the food. I paid and left. I will never go back! We happened upon this restaurant driving through Salem on the way home one night. It was late on a Sunday, we were starving and very tired and this was one of the few places with good reviews that was still open. It was an amazing meal. I can't remember what we had on that first visit other than we added a pupusa to try and it was delicious! Now we always plan that into our road trips and occasionally just drive down from Portland when the pupusa craving gets too strong to deny. I usually get a few pupusas - they never disappoint - and the hubs always tries something new and it's always good. Tonight we are headed there for dinner and we're finally going to try the platanos - and maybe something else we haven't tried before. I've eaten here a few times, but always stuck to the standard burrito, which was good, but about what you'd expect....it's a burrito. The last time I went, I wanted to branch out a little. It helped that the waitress helping me was not only extremely friendly, but very knowledgeable and was absolutely devoted to the restaurant (I'm pretty sure she was part of the family who owns the place). I asked her a few questions this time. Specifically about the fried yucca root and just what exactly a pupusa was. She said that the yucca root is very similar to a potato, and that the pupusa was a corn-based toritilla, sort of piled flat around shredded pork and cheese, beans and cheese, or just cheese. I went for the shredded pork and cheese pupusa and chicken tamale with fried yucca root combo. It came with their El Salvadorian beans and rice. She was so excited for me to try their signature dishes (especially the pupusa), it made ME excited to eat it. She also told me that since they were hand-made when ordered, it might take a little while. This did not worry me, as I had a cold Dos Equis at my side and a basket of some of the tastiest corn chips and spicy salsa I've had in a long while. Despite being warmed of a long wait time, my dish came out quickly. I will say that I tried the beans, and I am simply not a "bean person." I've never been fond of them. The Salvadorian beans definitely had a different flavour than your regular refried or black beans (which they offer as an option), but beans in general are just not to my taste. The rice was fluffy and very flavourful. The chicken tamale was a chicken tamale...nice and dense, with a great taste to the chicken. But the main event was definitely the pupusa. It's texture was flaky, almost like a pastry, but dense...you could definitely chew it. And it wasn't crammed full of stuffing...it was a thin, very tasty layer that perfectly complimented the hand-made tortilla. And combined with the yucca root, which was like a much denser potato, with a great texture and taste, made it simply perfect. I can see why the pupusa is a signature dish...it is absolutely delicious, and I was craving another one almost as soon as I left the front door. The tamale was good, for a tamale, but next time I will bypass that and just go for the two pupusas. I was sad that the sodas cost $1.50 and they do not offer refills. Usually this drops my rating down a star...but not this time. Water is plentiful and cold, and a great Mexican beer makes the perfect compliment to this wonderfully unique restaurant in Keizer. read more

One of the owners of my company invited me here for dinner last Sunday, and was I ever impressed with my meal. I lived in Salem for18 years, and I can't believe I hadn't given this a try until two years after I moved away! Sorry I didn't discover it sooner. When I first pulled into the parking lot, the building reminded me of some run down fast food place turned restaurant. Do NOT let the outside turn you away. What awaits you inside will charm your taste buds! I have to give a rave review of what others before me already discovered, the Pork Pupusa and Tamale combination. After reading over the entire menu, I decided to branch out and try something with a Yucca root. Never having it before, I thought what the heck. I can also say I never had 'Salvadoran' food before this night. The Yucca root/Cole Slaw mixture was very different but exploding with great taste. I could of asked for seconds all around if I hadn't eaten so many chips and salsa before hand. Oh, and that's another thing, the Salsa was great tasting and the chips were very, very fresh. This unfortunetly doesn't have anything to do with their food but it has to do with the moral of this place. It sucks!! I am trying to get in contact with mrs Muñoz to complain about how her place of Buisness completely screwed me over by having my car towed without even the decency of asking me to move it first. I live next door and their parking lot is literally next door to me. I moved in here in February and had been parking in the lot since I first got here. They had my number and contact info as well as employees and managers would see me daily in the yard or getting into the car. Never once was I asked to move or that it was an issue that I was parking there. I went and bought a used car and parked it in a space and went to get the dmv stuff organized and came back and it was gone. I had just spent my only money buying this car so I wouldn't have to rent cars anymore. I spent $2000 on the car. So I was tapped out. When I called them I asked what was going on. This was on 3/8/20. The girl said they didn't need it towed till the following day but the tow people towed it early. So then I call the tow company. They say no there was a note on the car stating that day would be the day to get it towed. Now I've been going back and forth and hearing different stories. FINALLY I get the info that they towed it correctly etc. so I ask how much is it to get out being as it's only been in for a few hours. They wanted $350 already!!!!! I see the manager the next morning and she walks up to me ( funny how now they have the capabilities to come talk to me ) she states I can't park there because it takes up their spots and the overflow of customers has to be moved to the next lot over. I ask her why they didn't contact me or ask me to love when they had my info and obviously know who I am. I said, " you guys just ruined my life right now I spent the only money I had gettting a car and now it's towed and racking up a bill. All you had to do was do just like you're doing now and come ask me to move. Nice been parking my rental car in the same spot for a month without a single issue then magically you guys have a change of heart and tow my car? I'm screwed right now" almost in tears all the woman says is " there's signs and also the last tenants who lived here asked us if they could park here first. So she openly admitted she knew who's car it was and how they could've helped me avoid it. Now my cars is in the tow yard racking up a bill. It's already at $750 about. I would appreciate if the OWNER could contact me. I don't want to hear from another single "manager" here because they are inconsiderate and obviously spiteful people. I doubt that's they type of culture any employer would expect. Common decency and humility are great things to have. Rather then screw someone out of their life savings after a month of no issues then you change your mind is unacceptable. I really, really wanted to like this place. I ordered some pupusa plates (with rice and beans) and a fried plantain plate with beans and cream. I am from LA, am Mexican, and have visited plenty of pupusa places. I also have a local lady in town who sells pupusas out of her home (in Salem) and they are bomb! However, she only sells them on Saturdays. I was having a craving for pupusas, googled pupusas, saw Dos Hermanos had some for sale today, and ordered away. For two pupusa plates (2 pupusas with rice and beans) and a side of plantains, my order was 39, you heard me, $39! dollars. Higher than even LA prices. The pupusas hardly had any pork and the curtido is not traditional - it has jalapeno rounds in it. They did not satisfy my craving at all. Order was ready when I picked up. But I don't think I'll be going back again. I'm going to stick with my local pupusa lady. read more

Today I ordered 3 papusa meals with 3 horchatas through postmates, the only thing that was delivered in my meal, was 1 papusa a la carte. Nothing else. I have called you twice with no resolution or sympathy provided. The representative I spoke with from Los Dos Hermanos stated "we went based off the order that was shown to us". Upon looking through my order on postmates it shows I ordered 3 papusa meals which Include rice, beans and cabbage as well as 3 horchatas. I was given 1 papusa A la carte. The representative lied multiple times, tried to charge me again for their mistake. After yelling at me I asked for a manager. Why would the representative pretend to be Theresa when I am familiar with Theresa and her voice and the representative pretended to be her in the most horrific way. She portrayed herself as a higher up and spoke extremely vulgar to me. I order from you 3 times a week I have never been so disappointed and disrespected by a staff of your establishment. When you get a craving for salvadorian food this is the place to go! The complimentary tortilla chips and salsa were very tasty. Hot chips and salsa with just the perfect kick. We ordered the yucca frita to start out with. The yucca was crispy, curtido was perfectly pickled, and the tomato sauce delicious. Now the main attraction for me was the pupusas. Amazing! The masa to filling ratio was perfect. The masa was also cooked with a crispy outer edge. The filling was savory and just the right amount of cheese. I also ordered the salvi horchata. To start, the chips, salsa, and bean dip are fantastic. Most Mexican restaurants serve salsa but they are always missing the little heat and kick from this place gives you, real deal homemade. The chips are perfectly thin and fresh, served warm. Great atmosphere, love the authentic decor. The food was so delicious and flavorful my glasses fogged up and my taste buds were taken on a trip to Latin America, even something as simple as the side of red beans were great. PLEASE READ THIS I have a bit of travel under my belt, and have eaten at many a different restaurant. Understand that this sentence does not come lightly: This is my favorite restaurant. Mind you, yes, the food was amazing. Everything is obviously cooked when you ordered it, but it's also PREPARED as you order it. For example, I had the quesadilla. The jalapenos, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and other vegetables were freshly diced at the point of order. The tortilla chips, tortillas, salsa, and and bean dip are all house-made. Everything is a personal recipe of the owner, from the chicken marinade, to the margarita (with strawberries from local fruit stands). And, of course, the service was incomparable. The owner was at our table every few minutes, checking up on us and telling us different things about the history of the restaurant. And when I asked for more salsa, the wait for a refill was under 30 seconds. The owner's daughter was also over occasionally just to talk, and was always very cheerful, insightful, and happy. Plus, the atmosphere was perfect. There was a party in the back room of raucous (but respectful) patrons all having a great time, and the tables were all filled with well-mannered people. It seemed as though everyone was on a personal-basis with the owner. At one point, a small child ran in and gave the owner a hug. It felt genuinely like a family-based operation. Lastly, this place has no advertisement. Nothing in the papers, no radio, no magazines, fliers, or anything of the sort. This place relies on word-of-mouth only. When I called this my "favorite restaurant," it's because of all these things. But I implore you, please pay this place a visit to see what I mean. Salem/ Keizer is a surprisingly great place to find a variety of Latin food and this place is one of the top picks in Keizer. This place is run by people from the Central American country of El Salvador and the authenticity shows in the flavors and textures of its most excellent food. For those that think all Latin food is Mexican food, I encourage you to come here and try the Salvadoran. The pupusas (thick corn meal tortilla made with a variety of items of your choosing cooked inside) are amazing: try the pork ones with cheese- mmmm. Look like you know what you're talking about and ask for a pupusa with lorocco (the tasty edible part of a cactus plant that grows in that region), it's a great combo. The Platanos Fritos con Crema are a must enjoy app and for another side, I encourage you to try the root vegetable, Yucca ("You-kah"). Service is friendly and fast, you can tell people enjoy working here and make all customers feel welcome. The inside is typical Latino style with walls painted all different kinds of color... basically looking like a Sherwin Williams store exploded inside and it ends up working! All kinds of bric a brac hang from the ceiling, which gives it a quirky, whimsical feel. There are a couple large TV monitors for catching those games while you enjoy drinks from their full bar. I ordered their Cadillac Margarita and it was pretty good (I've had better). I didn't save room for dessert, unfortunately but I'm sure you won't go wrong trying their Flan. read more
