Came for lunch. Ordered a plain margarita on the rocks, heavy on the alcohol! Chips were a little too over cooked. Their "Spicy" salsa had no more heat then their regular. Had a Chile relleno that was perfect. Ordered steak fajitas as my main. Excellent amount for my lunch portion that included guacamole. Went for dinner with 2 others, they screwed up my order and didn't bring it before the other 2 finished. I told them to forget it and the manager didn't even appologize. Not the way to run a business. The Manager is that in name only as its apparent he doesn't know what he's doing. Had several opportunities to make an adjustment but simply stonewalled me. I don't know how anyone can give this place more than one star. The food is awful. The place is painfully noisy. If you like good queso you won't find it here. What they serve is thin, white maybe-cheese kind of like Elmer's glue with no flavor. I suppose the employees have to write a bunch of good reviews in order to get their paychecks. I'm going with a 4 star review based on my first experience here. The service was exceptional, the food quality was solid I also would like to see a little more spice in the dishes but they were well put together. I did enjoy the texture of the red and green salsa the chips were fresh and I like the large drink glasses although it was lunch time and I had to settle for tea it was very good tea. I got the mixed fajitas they came out sizzling hot and there was plenty of chicken and beef to more than fill the 3 tostadas serviced. The grilled veggies were cut thin and cooked up nice to accompany the meat i would of liked it a little more flavorful and will request they kick it up my next visit. We had lunch for two for $16.00 it was a great value and more than enough food. I would recommend you give them a try. read more

Although my experience today was not perfect, I hope this was a rare occurrence. Our server was kind, but it took at least 45 min to get a couple tacos and some chicken fingers. When it got to us all the tacos were cold and the order was missing a few items. I was quite upset because a couple that came in after us got their food before us and was done before we got ours. It's Tacos.... at a Mexican restaurant..... we waited so long my 5 year old fell asleep, so I ended up just eating her dinner. I was like, "If I wanted cold chicken tacos we would have went to Moes!" Thankfully, when the waiter saw how exasperated I was, the manager came over, comped the meal, and personally went back and made us fresh tacos. I wasn't a jerk, and made sure to leave a tip that would have reflected the total of the bill. The restaurant itself is interesting, it is decorated like you would expect a Mexican themed restaurant to be, but with benches that look like they belong in a 50's diner. The bathroom needs a serious remodel, and was not stocked with paper towels. The menu has a wide selection, but I find it expensive for Mexican food. I was thinking this would be an authentic Mexican joint, but the authentic ones I've been to aren't usually in this price point. $5 for queso? Nah, brah. So yeah, I wasn't impressed and next time my kids want tacos I'm just going to Taco Bell or Moes read more

I think they have changed owners in the last year. When we first went there last year it was good food and good service. Now it is horrible to say the least! The servers all seem to hate their jobs! Not friendly at all! The food is mediocre at best with NO flavor! And for a $75 tab for two people it definitely is not worth it! All I have to say is it seems to me that either the owners or management truly does not care. Growing up in Arizona and living now in Florida I always have great examples of great service. I have to say I was a little skeptical coming here, but to my surprise it was GREAT. The salsa tasted really fresh. I ordered the Burrito Supreme which came with rica and beans. The beef was seasoned great and the rice and beans were fantastic. The part I liked the best was that everyone helped out each other. I don't know if they combine tips or not but this restaurant is one of the best run restaurants I have been too. For the price of the food, you will NOT go home hungry. Was very happy with our experience tonight. The staff was super friendly. The chef was running a few minutes behind and the waitress actually apologized on his behalf and gave us complimentary quest that was delicious. My husband actually goes here regularly with his work buddies. He ordered a beef chimichanga and it was delicious. The beans and rice were delicious. The only thing I was a tiny bit disappointed in was the chicken and veggies for my fajitas. It was hardly seasoned and didn't have the usual "scorch" marks on it. It barely had any color. My husband said that is not usually the case with their food so I'm sure the chef was just overwhelmed. The price was amazing and I have enough food for three meals! My partner ordered an appetizer guacamole with no onions also. It came with onions. You can tell the guacamole was not fresh! (It looked store bought) The food was not good. I ordered the mixed fajitas and my friend ordered the flights when we got our food my friends order was wrong and my fajitas had like three little strips of chicken in it four little strips of me two strips of peppers and the rest was onions. like I said not impressed we never seen our waiter we actually had to go up front and ask for our ticket I don't know how this place is still in business the food wasn't even good the beans and the rice tasted old will never go back again read more

It was early (4 pm) date night Tuesday at Los Dos Compadres in Deland, FL. When we arrived, the place was nearly empty, air was cool, music was alternative calming. Met at the door and escorted to our booth which gave me full view of the kitchen door and staff work-table. We ordered a draft and a top-shelf margarita (no 100% agave, sad). Our server brought chips and salsa. No drinks. We ordered their "made at the table" guacamole, mixed meat fajitas for two and a grilled hot pepper for me. Our server brought the guacamole and deftly mixed it at the table. No drinks. "Are our drinks coming?""Yes, yes." No drinks. The guacamole--chunky fresh avocado, chopped onions, tomato, cilantro and a dash of lemon juice was so good! Ahhhhh!!! Drinks! Finally! Brought to me ceremoniously by a grinning Horatio, the manager. What a lovely margarita! Big glass, cold, thickly salted, and perfect. Horatio left and returned with a sizzling platter of steakshrimpchicken atop a bed of sauteed green peppers and onions. Our server delivered two platters of refried beans, yellow rice, pico de gallo, guacamole, lettuce, a healthy dollop of sour cream and fresh corn tortillas wrapped in foil. Everything hot. But no grilled hot pepper. We were so hungry. The steak was tasty and tender. The chicken, a large breast piece sliced, was well flavored and juicy. The shrimp were grilled to perfection. The tortillas looked and tasted like someone's mama was rolling them in the back. Oh, my gosh, it was all SOOOOOO good! As our feeding frenzy slowed, we picked at the food, ordered another beer (Margarita was too big for seconds) and watched. Judging from the help-wanted sign on the front door, Los Dos Compadres was understaffed. The existing staff were never still as the restaurant filled up for dinner. If they were not waiting on customers, they were rolling cutlery together at a table or prepping something else. Horatio flitted through his staff, helping where needed, greeting, and seating customers, serving, clearing tables--- he was even able to hold a quick staff meeting without missing a beat in the restaurant. They are a well-oiled staff who seem to like working with each other. Were there ANY cons? One big one. Our booth position gave me restaurant view, while, unbeknownst to me, Tracy had a big-screen tv in his immediate view. I gave him kudos for his effort to pay attention to me rather than the tv. It was only when he mentioned the weather report that I realized he had been well aware of the television on the opposite wall. Please take the television OUT of the dining room. There are already two or three other TVs over the bar. Our bellies full and drinks gone, we asked for our tab which was a reasonable $47.00 for the great food, big drink, and a happy staff. Other than the tv issue, the slow arrival of our drinks and the missing (and charged $1.39) hot pepper, Los Dos Compadres is awesome and worth our many more visits! read more

Twice recently I've made good second choices after my first choice made me run screaming out of the restaurant. Thankful to find this place, a cute stand-alone building off of this busy stretch of highway. Thanks, disgusting, ill-managed place up the road! Chips, salsa and margarita came all together (tasty, and the green salsa was fiery) and the colorful menu drew me in with many delicious choices. I settled on the Chile Verde Burrito (Spicy Pork) - secret recipe, green sauce burrito, served with rice, beans, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream for $11. "Settling" is not a great term because this burrito was slammin'! Got a good case of heat sniffles, bros and bro-nettes, they aren't joking with the spicy. Slightly crispy pork chunks were perfect. Wish I could say the same for the rice and beans which were alternately undercooked and somewhat can-ny. Only thing that keeps this from being five stars. Decor is pleasant, looks like a converted diner, music and representation very authentic. Service was good-spirited and attentive. Spring a little extra for the premium marg. Didn't try the margaritas , but since I'm moving here eventually, I know I'll get to it some time. I had the green enchiladas (chicken). The waiter let me know that they were spicy, but they were only as hot as green tobasco sauce. My plate was very good. The beans were velvety and not too salty. Just the right amount of lard made them authentic and just right. I am a rice snob. I like brown rice and Puerto Rican white rice, and paella, but not too many Mexican rice recipes. However, Los Dos Compadres gets two thumbs up. Not too dry and not too salty. Way to go chef!!! I can't wait to return and try other things on the menu. See my picture below. read more

The acoustics are horrendous. We were in the dining room and it sounded like we were sitting next to the blender. It was about half full with diners and it sounds like 50 people present. My husbands shrimp chimichanga was very good with a nice flavor. My chili tells I was good, no heat, and small. The enchilada's tortilla edges were so dry and tuff that I couldn't cut them with a knife. After trying to eat one bite, I gave up. The waitress did try to take it back but I never send anything back (you never know what may be added. That's just me). Not a good experience.
