I've been to Los Compadres several times and tried several different dishes. I can honestly say I have not found one thing on there menu that is even close to authentic "fresh" mexican food. I think everything comes out of a can and everything definitely tastes, looks and feels microwaved. On several occasions we have also had issues with not having enough plates or silverware. When asking why they always responded that they don't have enough even when there were only a few people in the restaurant. The most troubling however was how the employees were treated. I often heard the owner yelling at them and bad mouthing them. The rudeness was terrible to listen too and I felt so bad for the poor people being yelled at and demeaned. I will not return to this establishment. Poor food, poor service and poor treatment of humans. read more

When I lived in the Clinton area I often ate at Los Compadres and considered it the best Mexican fare in town. My wife and were going through Clinton on our way to The Lake and stopped in for dinner. It was disappointing from past experience. I'll compliment the servers who were prompt and friendly, but that's where the satisfaction ends. I was left wondering if Los Compadres had changed ownership and/or management since I was last there. They used to have a Camarones a la Diabla entree on the menu, which was one of the best I'd ever had. The shrimp were numerous and plump; the sauce was thick and rich; and the taste was muy delicioso. Not so this time. The portion barely covered the plate; the shrimp were few and small; and the taste was akin to that Mexican fast food place across the street, which isn't really Mexican. Sorry, Los Compadres. Really sweet service is the highlight of this place. The ladies working the front of the house are as sweet as clover honey. The food is pretty good too. The salsa has fresh ingredients and a little chunkiness to it. And chips are brought to the table hot. I had pork carnitas. While a little greasy, they were also pretty tasty! I ordered a side of chorizo, which is not on the menu here. I put the sausage in the beans and rice and really kicked up my plate's flavor. Delicious! Nice chunky salsa . Thin hot chips. Excellent service! Authentic Mexican food. Chile rellenõ was yummy! And we even had fried ice cream. Anything with shredded beef or shredded chicken is excellent. Server was very attentive! read more

The food was good, I had a chicken chimichanga and chili rellano. My boyfriend order dirty queso (queso with taco meat mixed it), they didn't know what it was, but made it for him once he explained it. It was ok, we've definitely had better. Our server didn't know what chorizo is, which is kinda scary in a Mexican place. But she was new, so I guess I should cut her some slack. The salsa was on the watery side. We stopped in here during a road-trip, so we probably won't be back. But if I lived there, I'm sure we'd go again from time to time. Simply horrible and over priced. Ordered a Asada Burrito and is was a cold tortilla with cheese shreds and Taco Bell quality steak. Came with refried beans and tasteless rice. Utterly horrible. LOS COMAPDRES: i can't say enough good things abou the place (i signed up on yelp.com just to right a revies) i live and work in clinton and I/WE (my work crew) eats at LOS COMPADRES at least 3 times per week. the staff is verry friendly and the food is GREAT and verry reasonably priced. they serve beer and margarita's the best part is the Fajita's and every thing else on the extensive(not to be confused with expensive) menu!!!! read more

Stopped here for lunch on our way from Branson to Kansas City. The restaurant is extremely clean and the service was impeccable and fast. The food is very good. Some people complain in reviews that it's "not authentic" and thank god for that because I hate authentic Mexican food. I had an "Express Lunch" one tamale and rice and beans and it was swell. Sure, it might have been frozen or out of a can. So? It was $4.99! The service was crazy fast, too. My daughter asked for some special stuff and they did everything right. We will definitely go back. Food was the usual. Had chicken tacos. The girl that was our sever was overly bubbly and pushed us to get just one margarita each, opposed to a pitcher (which we can drink together). When asked how the margaritas were we were nice and said good, she said "I told you, perfect amount". Before asking if we wanted anything else she offered our bill. We felt pushed so we just got our bill and left. And not to mention she practically paced by our table, literally staring at us to the point of awkwardness. Prior to being hired as a busgirl at Los Compadres, I had always enjoyed eating there because I am a huge fan of Mexican food. The food is great, and the owner and his staff are all super friendly. Now that I work there, I eat their food even more frequently and have never stopped loving it. Authentic, consistent good quality, clean, friendly and the place to eat mexican. A bonus is they have a good selection of top shelf tequila and cold draft beer. I have lived in the Tuson area and am no stranger to good mexican food and Los Compadres will compete with any of then north or south of the border. It is now our home away from home for meals. This food is not authentic whatsoever. I got chicken tacos with rice and beans and pretty much everything on the plate was just okay. The reason I gave it 2 stars is because the wait staff was friendly and he refilled our drinks quickly. If you're looking for Mexican food in Clinton, you have got to try El Camino Real.
