My son and I enjoyed the 2 tacos. I got one lean and one moist- just perfect to try the best of both worlds. I enjoyed their Mexican coffee with the cinnamon, mmmm! To top it off, dessert. Their carnitas tacos are excellent. But there are other places in a city the size of Houston with great carnitas. Their prices are 30~35% higher than they ought to be for such a casual restaurant (e.g., 3 tacos, rice, beans for $19.99). To add insult to injury, there are photos on the menu that do not match the actual serving sizes. The result is that you feel taken advantage of. This is misrepresentation. read more

First time here - the place is absolutely beautiful, spacious and very clean! They have a playground for the kids which has turf so very safe. Their Cafe de Olla is probably the best I've had in Houston! Absolutely delicious The fresh chicharones & salsa were very flavorful! The rice & beans taste great but the carnitas need some flavor! The name literally means "little pig" so be advised that this is a pork restaurant. Don't come here expecting chicken or beef, pork. The good thing is they do pork really well. Big parking lot in the back. Inside is big and clean. I think the inside is so big they probably don't have enough servers to cover the entire space. Starting off, once you get seated they bring chicharron and an assortment of salsa. There was a sweet, green medium and a bit spicy red. My partner ordered the Jamaica and I ordered the cafe de olla. The Jamaica was not too sweet and not too sour. The coffee was delicious. I think I would have like a touch of cream with it but it was good on its own. We ordered the pork tacos. You can choose between lean, moist or mixed. These were delicious and the tortillas were great. And we also got an order of crispy pork belly. It comes with a scoop of guacamole. This is perfect for the keto/protein diet. I found the pork to be a touch too dry, but loved the crispy top. We didn't get dessert but did note that they do breakfast. Great new place off 45 in Spring tucked next to AutoNation. Staff super friendly! You can walk up to the taco bar and order food or sit to eat. The interesting part about this restaurant is their primary meat is pork they serve shredded pork tacos wet or not...carnitas is what it's typically called. They make their own tortillas and desserts...so good! Plenty of seating I love the colors very vibrant. They have an outdoor playground for kids to play in as well. So great for everyone. read more

While the restaurant interior is large, the parking lot is about average size, funny because they offer shuttle service in the parking lot to the door. We were maybe less than 100 feet from the door and offered a shuttle, which did make me chuckle. Service was fine. The food? Nothing really stood out. For a place focused on carnitas, the meat wasn't particularly tender, nor did the seasoning standout and the prices high for the portions. The salsa was good, as were the tortillas. I honestly don't know what any of the complaints are. I've been here four times since they've opened and have always gotten great service. Maybe it's a little pricey, but we're not talking TCs or Uncle Julio's, people. We're talking a good, family-owned restaurant. Today, I had the Cochi-roll and a jamaica. Very generous serving of carnitas on one of those kind of lobster-roll buns. I don't know if this is on the Mexican menu, but it's a nice sandwich. They have a new salsa too. We went with a party of four for a 6 pm weekend dinner and were seated immediately. The waiter came by promptly to take our order, which was easy enough to give with the concise menu. We got the marranitas platter and cactus salad (a good combo to split between two people for a non-heavy meal), the horchata, and the Jamaica. We all saved room for dessert after seeing rave reviews about everything offered on that menu, and thoroughly enjoyed the cornbread, lemon ice cream, and orange ice cream. Was lookong forward to trying this place as I love authentic foods. My family and friends came in for an early Friday dinner. It looked like a food court, but was a table service restaurant. The space was big and ypu could see the kitchen preparing meals. Tables were spread out and there was a lot of empty space. Playground was a nice touch but primarily more useful for littles under 6. Men's bathroom had complementary carnations blossoms to give to your female companions. Servers were pleasant and friendly but super slow. It took 30 minutes to get the cactus salad. Had to ask serveral times for waters, lemon, eating utensils for everyone. We were goven jalapeños in soy sauce when we asked if they had a spicer dipping sauce than valentina or tapatio. I was w my friend from Veracruz and she was not impressed by the food nor its presentation either. We wanted to love this place but found the menu very limiting for dinner and the pricing surprisingly robust for what we were given - different from tex-mex offerings. I don't mind paying for authentic foods and specialities, however, all the meats came out dry and overcooked, which made the price point more perturbing. Unlikely to come back for dinner or lunch. Hmmm this was a very tough one to review the service and ambiance was fantastic the kitchen area and restaurant spotless the 2 servers were great nice but a little pushy as a first timer there I like to look at the menu and not feel rushed into a decision. The food was good but in my opinion lacked flavor or pizazz needed to really solidify a reason to come back. The tacos were packed and had some good cheese but the beans and rice were lacking and didn't give the support needed the chicharones you get instead of chips are crispy and delicious with their salsa that taste homemade. read more

We were excited to try this new spot -- especially since there's a play structure outside, which signals family-friendly dining. Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite deliver. Service was the biggest issue: we were seated and waited a long time with no server contact. I had to track down the hostess to find out if we'd been assigned one. Once we did have a server, we had to ask for utensils multiple times throughout the meal -- it became genuinely frustrating. Hopefully just new-restaurant growing pains. For families: there's no kids menu, which was a bit surprising given the outdoor play area. Just worth knowing before you go. Heat level: This place runs hot -- and I mean that literally. Both salsas were extremely spicy, and the enchilada sauce was fiery enough that our server actually flagged it before I ordered (appreciated the heads up!). If you have a low spice tolerance, ask questions before ordering. This isn't a criticism of the food itself -- just something to know going in. The carnitas I ended up with were underwhelming flavor-wise for the price. If you love bold, spicy food and don't need kid-specific options, this might be more your scene than mine. I won't be back. This isn't even Mexican rice. Doesn't even come with verduras, I guess a pea here and there. I've never had rice this bad at any Mexican restaurant I've been to. The carnitas on my sopes.. cold. I forgot to take a pic of my horchata, but I put a pic of where they filled it up to which was also disappointing. The cochi snack was honestly the only thing I enjoyed and the pork rinds they bring to you when seated. Was thinking of trying to desert, but at this point no. Also asked for a to go plate. Walking in I immediately loved the big open bright colorful interior, but that's where it stopped. Service was fine, greeted immediately, checked on several times, so no complaints there. A bit of an odd menu, very limited selection, mostly pork / carnitas and pork rinds from what I could tell. Prices are crazy too high for what it is though. Instead of chips , they serve pork rinds and salsa , odd, okay, they are under no obligation to serve anything to munch on, so no complaints here, ( although I would say if they served regular corn chips instead of pork rinds, maybe they could charge less for the meal, just sayin);The tacos here are not what we think of when we think tacos. They were corn tortillas with meat ( carnitas) no cheese, no lettuce, soft corn tortillas, no sides, just two rolled up soft corn tortillas with meat. Two for $9.00. my husband ordered the carnitas house special, again, just the meat and tortillas, no sides. The food was just okay, definitely nothing special about this place or their offerings. OK, let me start by saying I didn't know they sold just pork. It's literally in the name "cochinitos" LOL. They only have four items on the menu that don't have pork. Second the day we went they opened at 11. The doors were open at at 10:45 so we walked in the manager immediately told us they aren't open yet but we are welcome to sit down but they won't service us until 11 right after us another couple came in and they were serviced immediately. We are a brown family and the couple that walked in was white, don't know if that had anything to do with it. Second of all the pork was extremely salted. The horchata is nearly $5 and its a small no refill cup! Overpriced is correct for this restaurant. Do not go here expecting good Tex-Mex. We were a group of seven and ordered a variety of dishes. All the food seemed very similar in taste and texture. Most were bland with little flavoring. The place was really nice the people were nice. The food was very bland. We had the queso it was ok , would have been better if it came out hot. It was just warm so it cooled off very quickly. I order the enchiladas 2 Carnitas and 2 cheese. Same thing food came out cold. The cheese wasn't even melted. The portion were small. The flavor was just bland. The beans very small portions. My wife order the fajita same thing just bland and barely warm. The salad was the same small but the dressing was good. The chicharron's and tortillas were very good. Ordered rice, but didn't receive it, meat was good, corn tortillas superb. Skip the store bought flour tortillas which came with the queso fundido. The managers seem to be more interested in yelling across the restaurant to get the young staff to attend to customers. Our waitress only took our order and left, never to be seen again. Had another employee bring our food which was cold. The taste, we ordered the costillas and carnitas, was bland and a little tough. Took forever to get our check and price was a little steep. The staff is excellent and it is clean. I know cochinitos is little pig but I didn't realize that is really all they serve. No chicken no beef, just pork. Was going to order the carnitas until they said it's just the meat and tortillas. Luckily I saw posters on the wall that showed a taco platter with rice and beans. Today, this was one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had in a long time. I didn't even receive the water I requested, and our waiter Arturo, only came to our table twice the entire visit- once to halfway take our order, and the second time to drop off the receipt after we had already asked for it twice. That was the extent of the service. The lack of attention, the lack of basic hospitality, and the complete indifference to simple requests made it clear that customer service is not a priority here.
