The store was immaculate and well-stocked. They offered several brands of the item I was looking for. I couldn't leave the store without checking out their bakery department and treated myself a mile-high chocolate cake. It was the highlight of the visit. The cake was heavenly. The store shares an enormous parking lot with other businesses. I will definitely spend more time in the store on my next visit to see what else I can find.

The whole time, they ignored my emails and stalled the process until I mentioned court. The manager and owner, Dimitris Svigos and Jonathan Svigos, agreed to reimburse my expenses in the end. But once I gave them the invoices, they ignored me completely and stopped responding. They make this difficult for you on purpose, simply because they can. UPDATE: I filed a small claims case. These two geniuses (one of them with an MBA) let it escalate, and they ended up agreeing to pay triple what we agreed to at first. Brilliant financial decision from the MBA. Then they started looking for excuses not to pay again and decided to hire a lawyer too, instead of just paying and getting it over with. It was another brilliant move from MBA. They also claim they never had authorization to agree to any payment, because the store actually belongs to their parents. So apparently Jonathan, Partner and VP of the store with an MBA, can't handle a small claims case without asking his daddy for permission I'll keep you posted.

Food court is ok and can be crowded at times. ===== A bit of a trek from downtown, but sadly I think this is the closest East Asian grocery store to the loop. It can be pretty crowded in here at peak times. Good selection of produce, dried goods, sauces, snacks, meat etc. they also have a nice section of fish cakes and fish balls as well as sashimi and other sushi-making ingredients. My favorite things to buy here are produce, tteok, rice, and overpriced kimbap (~9$+ per roll). Things here are generally pretty pricy compared to other shops out in Chinatown or in the suburbs. My beloved Joong Boo shall remain first in my heart over this place since it's much more reasonably priced, and the food court is better. They do have some good deals here that you can find on their weekly flyer. Food court is ok and has SGD tofu house which is my go-to, a fried chicken and corn dog place, and some other place I forgot that was probably meh. Staff are very friendly and things here are generally well-organized and easy to find. There's a Paris Baguette, too, which is often out of many kinds of bread if you go in the later afternoon.

First, I explored the endless snack aisles and selected a bag of chocolate-hazelnut biscuits to take home. I couldn't resist the gelato and tried the pistachio flavor (yum!) On my next visit to Eataly a couple of days later, I ordered a cappuccino, and while my beverage took a long time to prepare, the espresso tasted very high quality. The pastries looked stunning and decadent, and I imagine they'd pair wonderfully with espresso if you have time to linger at the cafe (I was in a hurry to get to a work meeting). The next day, my team and I visited Eataly's restaurant for lunch. I selected the anchovy toast as my starter and the gnocchi for my main as part of the lunch special. The toast consisted of two slices of sourdough bread topped with creamy lemon spread and anchovies. The contrast of the bright lemon flavor with the ultra-salty anchovies was tempered by the creamy butter - these all paired together quite well. The gnocchi, on the other hand, was underwhelming. The gnocchi was much too soft (it had the texture of mashed potatoes), and the red sauce was bland. All in all, visiting Eataly was a cool way to experience gourmet Italian food.

Curated drink from Caffe Lavazza - this was a dixie cup portion of a blended Frappuccino 4. house made pastry - they gave you the option of literal bite sized dessert, not a whole pastry 5. the artisanal salumi and formaggi - pathetic, literally 1 piece of meat, three pieces of the same type of cheeses, three olives, and dry stale crackers. Honestly for what they offer this was a slap in the face and from a consumer perspective Eataly's attempt at a summer money making scheme. I would find it hard to believe anyone who rave about this event, in fact I imagine most left very underwhelmed and still hungry. Eataly itself might be a great experience but we did not have the opportunity. We enjoyed the spritz drinks we ordered for their $9 summer special but this event did not make me want to return at all. It unfortunately dangled everything they could have offered in front of us, but then gave us the lowest tier. Driving in traffic to do this was not worth the time, gas, parking or inconvenience and the best part of our city night was when we stepped out of Eataly.

This takes up a lot of the inside, and seems to be the main thing. A lot of the usual fruits and vegetables, but also has quite a lot that's not as common. The rest of the store has the bakery and deli counters, and they have fresh meats if you like getting meaty. Also they have a stand to get fresh gelato. The prices are pretty good, and they had lots of cheap specials. Clean and organized with everything looking fresh. It's certainly got Indian products, but there's a whole lot more, and good prices. This is located on Devon at Talman.

The best part is the fresh juice bar that they have. You pay for the juice at the cashier and take your receipt over to the juicer and they will freshly squeeze the juice for you. And yes, in case you didn't know, while it's called "International", all those nations are in Asia. We come here mainly for two things - either getting ingredients to make hot pot at home, or just eating hot pot here. They also have dry pot, which my wife and I really like as an option. You grab a basket and fill it with whatever veggies you want, then a separate one and fill it with proteins, then you pay by the weight. You can either get it hot pot style in a big bowl of hot broth, or dry pot where they cook it in the broth but serve your food already cooked. As far as the grocery selection, they have a big seafood selection and a decent butcher area. Also a lot of Asia snacks and frozen selection, and a small liquor section too. Produce is fine. But if you're making hot pot at home, they have the sliced meat, soup base, sauces, and a little frozen fish ball self-serve area. If you don't want to eat hot pot here, they serve other Asian hot dishes, and there's a bubble tea spot and bakery here, but I haven't tried anything else besides the hot pot. Sense a trend yet? It's not as big as Joong Boo, and it's bigger than the current H Mart for now but will be interesting to see how the new one compares. Overall it's a fine grocery store and we'll come back when that craving for mala spice strikes.
