We got tacos: al pastor, lengua, carne asada, and chile relleno. Everything was really good, but my faves were the al pastor and lengua. The chile relleno was perfectly cheesy and fried as well, but I wish they served it as a plate rather than just a taco. Will def be back to order more items. It's a great Latin American store with Latin American food and groceries. The employees are nice and they have a small restaurant too. The butchers are nice and happy to help. All the veggies and are fresh and food is made sure is hot I date like the fresh poco de Gallo and guacamole. The liquor is in lock and key which you need someone to open it for you. I was looking for a taqueria/grocery store combination since I was hungry after a long day of work. At the same time, I needed some fruit and eggs. I bookmarked this place some time ago, for it has good reviews on Yelp and was relatively close to Albany Park. After a short bus ride on Kimball, we got off at Belmont and walked a couple blocks west on Belmont. We then reached our destination. Behind the cash registers, there was a taqueria with some bar stools along the tiny dining room. Their menu features many of the Mexican quick-bite basics, such as tacos, tortas, burritos, and dinner combos. We had a pastor torta and chile relleno (stuffed poblano peppers with cheese), along with horchata and a bottle of lime jarritos. The total came to $12 for our dinner. Everything was made-to-order on their commercial grill. My pastor wasn't out-of-this-world amazing, but the meat was flavored well and portioned nicely. Speaking of great, cheap tortas, be sure that you check out the restaurant inside the Carniceria Guanajuato on Diversey at the Belmont Central neighborhood (hint, hint). Hubby also was satisfied with his chile relleno. Thus, our quest for some quick Mexican food was a success. Onto the grocery section, they carry a full line of groceries, even though the prices were just average comparing to other major Hispanic grocery stores in the city. We purchased some green seedless grapes ($0.99/lb; $1.89), a 4-lb bag of naval oranges ($3.49), and a dozen of jumbo eggs ($2.49). The total came to $8.05. While I wasn't impressed by their varieties and prices on their agricultural produce, their meat/seafood department appeared clean and had decent selections for a small-scaled neighborhood grocery store. Overall, if you're a resident in Avondale, it would definitely be a staple and perhaps a go-to place to pick up some simple, everyday grocery essentials. You can also find most of Mexican spices, beans, dairy products, pastries, juices, snacks, and alcohol here as well. You've got to love the real city. The food from the taqueria taste good. The fact that I have to call several times to try to get for someone to answer to place a pick up order is unbelievable. The cashier for the grocery answers and from there it never gets answered. I gave the benefit of the doubt that might be busy. Gave it a few hours to try and order again. The second round I called 3 times because I was on hold more at least 5 minutes each time. The food can be five stars but service is not there for me. read more

Oh my goodness... This place will seriously be the cause of much unnecessary weight gain and time at the gym. I moved a block away from here and one day found myself needing a few produce items so I decided to give this place a shot. As I entered, the aromas of Mexican food wafted in the air and made my mouth water. I decided to get some tacos. Honestly, I still hesitate to pay $2 for a taco because in LA I'm so used to paying the $1.25 for a excellent taco from a truck. Nonetheless, still gave it a try. Placed my order did my grocery shopping and went back to pick it up. The bag was pretty heavy for only having two tacos. The most exciting part about this trip wasn't actually the tacos but it was my discovery that they sold Chicharron con Carne. One of the best things in life. It is basically deep fried pork belly and it is truly heavenly. They sell this in the back by the meat deli and trust me... give it a try. It reminds me of Chinese style roasted pork ( su yuk). Sometimes I will walk in an buy one piece, ask them to cut it up for me and eat it as a snack as I walk to the blue line. Tell me that wont be a problem in the future. Overall great establishment, I would say come here for produce and some excellent food. Even their meats are generally cheap like Chicken breast and some beef. I moved into Avondale and walked into this little grocery mart for sum things and to my surprise they had extensive fruits and veggies and the meat market.. yummm!!! Try the seasoned chicken legs to grill at home, or the chicken fajitas... good stuff!!! The best part is the taqueria inside the store... wow. Shit was off the hook! It's a Mexican grocery store but also has a kitchen in the inside. Portions were moderate and very tasty. I would argue, it would put King Taco (Los Angeles restaurant) on the run for its money. I would come daily if I had a chance. This alone would be the only reason I'd ever visit Chicago again. It is not just a little corner market, they have a restaurant with great tacos and regular specials, decent produce, a nice variety of beer and liquor, a full selection of meat and poultry. This is a great neighborhood spot if you forgot something on your grocery list or need one more ingredient for your dinner tonight. I don't know that I'd recommend it for *all* my groceries- but has the basics at a fraction of the price of a place like Jewel. Their food is delish as well- have gotten tacos & tamales a couple times and was not disappointed. I'm here at least once a week to pick up some produce or some chips. This is a Small Mexican grocery store with a restaurant inside. There is not a lot of seating, it's more for to go or a quick bite, but let me tell you these are the BEST tacos in the area. My roommates, mom, and several friends have agreed. They are made quick to order. They have a good variety as well as some other Spanish plates besides tacos. As for the grocery store, it has a lot of essentials, fresh fruits and vegetables meats and other standard groceries. There is also a deli in the back where they sell deli meats and also fish chicken and red meat cuts. Everyone is always friendly. The grocery side also sells hot and cold prepackaged tamales, rotisserie chicken and chicken wings. They have a small beer and wine selection, and a decent liquor selection. The kitchen for the restaurant usually closes before the store does, so I would call ahead of time to make sure. read more

This is the only spot in Chicago that you should buy your menudo! Just recently discovered this little piece of heaven, but I'm actually happy the old go to went belly up. This menudo is spicy and it's great the way menudo should be! They also have a little taqueria in the front of the store, and offer carnitas and tamales on the weekends. They have all of the spices I need to make a great steak or a simple meal. They already have food made, like a restaurant, in case you don't want to cook something yourself. The cashiers are very polite and always smiling. It doesn't look like much, like a simple market, but this place is a credit to this area. Was looking for some Mexican food this morning and the restaurant we want d to try wasn't going to open until 10am. It was 9am and we didn't want to wait another hour. So we stepped into Los Potrillos, a market with a taqueria, wow are we glad we did. These tacos were fantastic. Being from SoCal we know good tacos, and these we right up there with the best. Ive eaten here more than at taco bell because there tacos are far better... kinda strange how you have to go through a supermarket to sit down and eat but then the korean market on kedzie requires the same.
