It was getting late a few weeks ago and we decided to give Tequila Jalisco a try. We arrived and…read morewere seated pretty quickly since it was towards the tail end of the dinner rush. It was a mostly relaxed atmosphere when we got there but they were playing a bunch of distracting music videos. We ordered a couple of drinks, two margaritas: one mango one passion fruit. But we tried each other's drinks and to be honest we couldn't tell the difference between the two since they tasted identical. Our waitress, who was nice and did a good job, brought over some chips and salsa, which was pretty good and we ordered the more deluxe version of their guacamole. Unfortunately, we noticed the consistency of the guacamole tasted like it was prepackaged since it had that prepackaged consistency. A bit disappointing because it was 10 dollars or so. We ordered an enchilada, shrimp tacos, and I ordered the Jalisco feast. The enchilada was alright but sort of bland. The shrimp tacos came with beans and the Jalisco feast came with rice and beans. The beans were a bit salty but I didn't mind to much cause I prefer more salt than not. The shrimp tacos had plain mayo on them which was a bit odd as we both thought Chipotle mayo or something similar would have been better. The Jalisco feast was alright but half the meat was kind of dry and the steak was cut so thin, I've seen thicker pieces of cheese. The shrimp was the best part of the Jalisco feast. The slasa was hot but decent and the Pico de gallo was alright. I have to say I wasn't too impressed with this place, especially for the price. There's not too many Mexican restaurants in the immediate area so if you're really craving it, it might satisfy your craving but elsewise I wasn't the biggest fan. I struggle with the rating to give this place. I really don't care for a 5 star ratings system because I would rate this place between a 5 out of 10, which would be a 2.5 out of 5. But since I can't select 2.5 I rounded up to a 3. It wasn't bad food and the service was alright but the food wasn't anything special, generally middle of the road in terms of quality.

To make matters worse, my son ordered the beef and cheese nachos, and the beef looked exactly like ground-up dog food. Total waste of money and a really gross meal. Avoid this place.

We all really enjoyed our meals. Most of us ordered the three taco combo (any three tacos on the menu) and a side of rice and beans! While the tacos are very simple, they are quite tasty. The carnitas pork taco is really tasty, especially with the pickled onions! Yum!! The steak tacos had good flavor, but there was definitely grizzle to be found in them! The chicken was great! All of their tacos are served in a double soft corn taco, which helps them stay together through every bite! Overall, the tacos here are truly authentic, full of Mexican flavors, and perfect to cure any taco craving! Now, the only thing they need is a liquor license to serve some delicious margaritas to wash down the tacos!! . Service was okay. They forgot silverware, so we sat for a bit unable to eat our rice and beans (or add them to the tacos, which is what I do). They also forgot two side of rice and beans, brought one after a reminder, but the final one was never received! We all left full and happy, so that's great! We will definitely go back again! PS. They have a full menu, much more than just tacos!! **We were so hungry that I forgot to take pictures!

In this case, the cuisine offered at Los Chamos is Venezuelan. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed a music/karaoke machine in the front corner. Tables were interspersed in the main area which surrounded a bar and ordering station. A preteen sat at one of the tables, playing on her phone. A young man worked the ordering station. Early on a Saturday afternoon, noticing a fridge with beers displayed, I ordered a Modelo and looked through the menu. I ordered a Chile Colorado and empanadas con pollo to go. Two things right off the bat - 1. First taste - It was good food. It was satisfying in a way that spoke of generational recipes rather than or despite culinary training. It is soul satisfying stuff. 2. If you can finish this meal in one sitting, good on you! Generous portions and the heartiness of the meal add to the "warmth" of the experience. A couple of details - the mayonnaise-based sauce for the empanadas was something I'd never tried before - lots of garlic, cilantro, a bit of water to loosen it, maybe some vinegar for acid...I liked it. The braised black beans had a little chili heat to liven it up. I'll definitely go back. I may not be fluent in Spanish or be knowledgeable about Venezuela but I find the food to be inviting and soulful.

More menu items for a slightly cheaper price, sign me up. I did order the huevos rancheros...twice. I guess I liked them. Menu states the huevos rancheros consists of "2 eggs over easy, over fried corn tortillas, topped with homemade salsa and Mexican cheese. Served with refried beans and rice." The first time, they added sliced avocados. The second time...nada. Hey, they used what was available. I also adore that dining out sometimes can get one out of a funk. Sometimes, I get so used to routine and habit that even a restaurant dish that is slightly out of my wheelhouse can get me thinking, acting, and appreciating things a bit more. If you're looking for breakfast/brunch that offers more options, no need to go further than the Point.

Other ingredients like cheese, beans, greens, and/or meats are mixed into the masa and cooked on a flattop until crisp on the outside. Since the "mixins" are varied, these are made to order. I had a Revuelta (queso, chicharron, beans) and a queso loroco (flower bud of a vine which grows in Central America). The tastiest portion for me were the almost burnt caramelized cheese bits on the outside of the pupusa. Honestly, the loroco was more of a textural component rather than a taste. It seemed mild. I'm sure they were canned. I don't think loroco grows around this area. The pupusas were served with a cabbage slaw (curtido) and a light tomato salsa. Pernil - a marinated pork shoulder, slow roasted until tender then usually blasted with high heat to render crispy skin (cuero). Slow roasted tender pork - yes. Rendered crispy skin - no. The generous portions of yellow rice and refried black beans rounded out the meal. One thing I noticed, the refried beans had a very slight sour note, vinegar or age, I don't know. I still ate them. No ill effects. Conclusion: I'd go again.
