Very disappointing experience at Los Amigos Golf Course. We specifically planned to grab food and drinks after our round, only to find that both the bar and café were closed shortly after 2 PM on a Sunday. For a golf course, that's a prime time when many players are finishing their rounds and looking to relax with a meal or beverage. There was little indication beforehand that these facilities would be closed so early, which made the experience even more frustrating. The course itself may be fine, but the lack of food and beverage service during a busy weekend afternoon was a major letdown. Management should do a better job of communicating hours or extending service to accommodate golfers. This course used to be well maintained. Course conditions have definitely eroded since I played here last year. Taking this course of the list to play. read more

God help you if you're behind the men's club group on Saturdays. We're through two holes in 45 minutes. This course lets them send out multiple groups of fivesomes in the 7 o'clock hour on the weekend. Completely unacceptable for a public course. Slows the entire day down because they're too busy yukking it up to play golf. If these losers want to play like this, they should play in the afternoon. Edit: Left after six holes in two hours and they wouldn't give me any kind of refund. Never again. read more

Don't play Los Amigos until all of the work is done. Starting on hole 10 thru 13 and then going to 7 thru 9 is not fun. And you still have to pay full price. I will wait. Try Hondo. read more

Ideal spot to play some golf at by yourself!! A basket of medium balls (80 count) is around $13. A small basket was 40 ct and a large basket was 100ct. Personally, I found that purchasing the medium basket for one ended up feeling like too much. I'm happy I was able to get the mechanics down more with the sesh though!! I got a good sweat in and overall felt happy I got to use my own golf clubs here. The range didn't look bad at all and the bathrooms were clean. Balls looked good and of newer quality. Solid public course near LA. It's a bit short overall, but the layout is enjoyable and the conditions are pretty well maintained. Fairways and greens are in decent shape, comparable to other public courses in the area. Weekend rates are around $70-80, which is fair for the location. Parking is easy with a spacious lot. It's not fancy, but it's reliable and convenient -- a great choice if you want a quick round without driving too far. read more

Horrible management and zero professionalism. Los Amigos sends groups off every 5 minutes and even allows six-somes, with no security or enforcement, making the course unplayable. Front desk staff was extremely rude, especially a guy named Nate. The general manager never responds to messages. When we asked for a refund after this mess, they refused and instead offered a 9-hole twilight walking voucher -- after charging $70 per person for four people. This place is overcrowded, poorly run, and does not care about customers. Save your money and play somewhere else. read more

Played on Friday, February 21, 2025. tee time set at 12:08. I was set to play with two people, they never showed up. I hooked up with 3 other singles that had various tee times. I quit after 13 holes, 4 hours to play 13 holes is totally unacceptable. We had a group of 5 in front of us and in front of them a twosome. No Marshall, no enforcement whatsoever for rules and etiquette. I will Say a few good things, fairways good shape and greens for most part well maintained. We did have a rather smelly incident between hole 1 and 2 tee. A maintenance guy was hosing off the grass, it appeared to be a shit pipe gone bad or sewer issue. Not a pleasant experience. Got to the course at 6:30am for a 6:48am tee time and was informed we'd be the 5th group up at 6:35. There were 5-some groups waiting at the tee box. Left at 6:40 and went somewhere else to work on short game. If you want to play here over the weekend or holiday, get there before 5:45am to end at a reasonable time. As for improvement: get a starter, Marshall and no 5-somes. read more

This place is a ripoff. They charge you $10 per tee time reservation that they don't tell you isn't refundable. They say you can cancel up to 48 hours ahead but don't tell you they keep your deposit. Course is over grown and plays super slow. Not worth it. read more

I play this golf course often and on numerous occasions I experienced that they have no control over the first tee. Players group around the 1st tee and steal other group's tee time and make a mess out of what is an honest game. A fun little track (under 6,000) yards from the white tees. Interesting bunkers certainly get your attention beginning on Hole 1. A large cross bunker tricks one into thinking it is green-side when it is still quite a ways to the green. The greens are true. Meaning they show you the break. Believe your eyes. I am being generous with the rating. A 3-star may be more appropriate. But I had fun today. Isn't that why we play, fun. read more

Our neighbor invited us to join them for an early morning round of golf here. Initially, from reading reviews, we were concerned about long waits, especially on a holiday, Turned out it's not crowded at all; hardly anyone was behind us. We had an enjoyable, relaxing time playing the back nine. Green fee with cart was a reasonable $37.75. The course fairways were in decent condition. Other than water hazards at Hole 16 (very challenging) and to some extent Hole 17, the course layout was not too difficult for high handicap players, like us. Bathroom at 15th hole was clean. It's a nice surprise to find out that we were entitled to a free, freshly-made breakfast burrito and cup of coffee (a $12+ treat that came with the green fee with proof of stamped receipt) at the grill after 9 holes! read more

I purchased a senior card a few weeks back, so today 11/17/23 I get there for an 8:30 tee Time. I arrive and check-in with the starter And I show him my senior card and he very Unapologetic possibly proudly say's .....oh We don't except senior cards from 7:00-9:00 On Fridays . I say oh ok , however I'm disturbed and I'm thinking about how they Did not disclose black out times .It was pretty Janky cause I never claim the senior benefit I pay full price for everything I do and I did Not like that claiming your a senior can Be degrading to yourself. Truthfully, this is a decent course. However, it needs to be runned better. It was a long six hour round, and it could have been prevented. There was no starter to make sure everyone was teeing off at the correct time. There were a fivesome, two twosome in front of me, which I was a single. Then another twosome behind me, which I invited them to join me. We had to wait almost at every hole. Sometimes, we were three or four deep. It's just hard to keep loose and keep in a routine. The course is in great shape. The rough is a little overgrown, so keep your ball in the fairway. I'm still glad I played it. read more

I haven't played here in literally decades and the course is in much better condition than it ever was when I played so many years ago. The greens were very nice for a muni though unfortunately, the mark of any muni is the countless number of unrepaired ball divots. A solid municipal LA County golf course. Recently renovated main restrooms. Refreshed range with newer balls. Offering starter/marshal services on Sat/Sun mornings with improved pace of play. Bartender was great, until she gave my friends card to someone else. That someone else had their order charged to my friend's card, that person left the golf course and then also charged more items before realizing she had the wrong card. When we called about it, the general manager left a voicemail on my friends answering machine that stated there was nothing that they could do and that It was pretty much her fault for leaving her card and to take it up with the bartender. Worst experience golfing in quite a while today at Los Amigos. Course was in its usual ok condition, so not too much to expect there. But pace of play was horrible. First, tee time was 20 minutes late. Oh, they added a solo 5th to our group. I put up a minor protest, but it wouldn't have helped anyway. The fellow was nice enough. Problem today was that about 2/3 of the groups on the course today were fivesomes. And, most of them were elderly walkers. First, you can't book a fivesome, so how were there so many groups of 5? And tee times are scheduled 2 every 15 minutes. Pretty dense. Then...walking????? If you're going to allow someone (once in a while) to squeeze a fifth, they should be forced to pay for and take an electric cart. No marshall on the course to try to keep things moving. Wouldn't have helped anyway. Round ended up taking 5 hrs, 45 minutes. I don't know any other course that allows this kind of slow play. Really frustrating. read more

Good course. The downfall was the crowd at the T-box. Looks like they scheduled t times every 4-5 min. The tbox had 5 parties ahead of my group. That made this game a 6hr game. I don't think I'll be going back due to regardless of the course read more

Everything I read is true. Way backed up at the tee. Groups bigger than 4 on the course. No checkin to say who goes and when. Course itself is good. Made the mistake of coming back a second time. They literally had 3 to 4 groups waiting at every hole. Nobody's out there telling people when to go. There are groups of two when you have four groups waiting behind you. With covid-19 and the world just crumbling around us thankfully we have golf as somewhat of a distraction. Los amigos is a great public course and they are following all safety guidelines in a non intrusive way. Covid golf is slightly different from "normal" golf so don't expect to be able to walk on play. Also everyone needs their own clubs, own carts (if available), wear a mask, etc etc. The golfers that play here are always courtesy and pace of play is never a problem. Challenging enough for good golfers but still playable for high handicappers. Cheaper than Rio Hondo GC which is nearby. read more

We had our wedding here on February 22, 2020 and the customer service was incredible. Mariella was very communicative, accommodating and helped us out immensely as we were planning the wedding from Washington state. The day of the wedding, (I think his name was Frank?) was so kind and made sure that we had everything we needed for our special day... from making sure I had access to the bridal suite, driving us around in the golf cart so we didn't have to walk and just being generally considerate. All of the servers were gracious and professional making for a very successful wedding. On top of that, the venue itself is beautiful and reasonably priced for everything that was included. Went for a round of golf recently on a Saturday in the am with a reservation for a party of 3(Me, my brother and my dad) paid a little over $80 between green fees, cart and bucket of balls. As we get called to the tee box we get advised that they were adding 2 more people to our group. This was supposed to be a fun family day and was ruined by golf staff making decisions without asking how we felt or anything. Other 2 players were extremely loud and obnoxious. Completely ruined my one day I had available to play with my family. Do yourself a favor and just go to Rio Hondo instead. Around same price but you won't deal with this kind of inconsideration. read more

Just like a review on indeed, I too, regret not talking to a handsome young blonde waiter who had worked here. Quite frankly he still haunts me in my dreams and thoughts the whole "what if" scenario on occasion, and well, it's better to take the risk than to never know, you know? There is nothing more that I regret than to not have listened to my gut instinct. Here I am, now, alone and miserable. There's this theory that I have, I'm not even sure if it should be called a theory but if it's remotely true which I don't want to believe, but if it's true, well it just digs me deeper into this rabbit hole of never ending low self-esteem issues. My advice to whoever reads this, of all ages, is life is too short, if you like someone TELL THEM don't be shy because it will ruin things. Take the initiative especially if both of you are shy. Don't be like me, cause it's not bueno to feel terrible about yourself, especially when you were doing just fine and then it all went down to zero. And now you don't know how to get back to where you were then when you miss it so much. If I could do it all again, I would within a heartbeat. I wish I could go back to the way I felt then. Nice course. Mostly well kept fairways and greens. Actually a lot more challenging than the scorecard reads. The fairways can be tricky and the sight lines to the greens can really push even skilled golfers if you don't set up 2nd shots well. The putting was also pretty tough as the weekend pin positions were "top of the volcano" on many holes and if you were putting from the low side, you're having to muscle it to the hole; while being on the high side meant little to no control over ball speed. So tricky. I blew a few birdie putts that would have been easy with slightly more forgiving pin positions. So odd that two of the better public courses around LA are nestled away in Downey (Rio Hondo, and Los Amigos). The staff were pretty nice, there's a simple grill for a breakfast bite or sandwiches/hot dog at the turn. The sell booze and beer, which are very important if you golf with me. The venue also has a pretty decent driving range and putting green. There's facilities for parties and such also, and the grounds are pretty with the water features and greenery. I've golfed here twice, and had a decent round both outings. I plan to come back! read more

This course is in really good shape. Way better shape than at this time last year!!! Greens and fairways were immaculate and extremely well maintained. Most holes are pretty wide open which is especially helpful for a hacker such as myself, LOL. Irene who works inside the pro shop always takes great care of our golf club and always accommodates our yearly tournament here. It's definitely one of our favorite courses. Great bar area and not that I've ever used it but a large clean reception area for bridal showers, etc... Plenty of onsite parking as well. read more

Took 1 hour to play 2 holes with 6 groups on a single par 4. Went to the pro shop to see if they could do anything or give refunds. Of course they were of no help. If you are into wasting your day at a dried out dog track with bad service then this is the course for you. read more
