Terrible experience with newest wired Lorex doorbell. Ordered it with chimes and a power supply as part of the package. Electrician wired the device and mounted the doorbell. Loaded app. Spent an hour following the app and the linked video instructions, got nowhere in connecting to the "hotspot" in the doorbell. Went online and saw a user's video. It showed something entirely missing from the video from Lorex: you needed to dismount the doorbell and connect via a usb cable to a laptop (the video was an older model that showed connecting to power in the wall, but the new model doesn't have wall plug, the kit includes a USB cable but no reference anywhere to it from Lorex.) Then I was able to get connected and see through the video. Reconnected to the outside and the wired power. And nothing worked. Reconnected to USB and computer, not problem. Reconnected to wired power. Nothing worked. (In general, the instructions that did exist were often vague, referring to "the network" when you had 2 networks (your own Wifi and the "hotspot" network with the Lorex, which itself generated multiple network names--one in the XXXX format of the instruction and then a much longer ID later). I have installed a lot of devices. This is my first total failure. Very disappointed. I am returning the merchandise. read more

Purchased a set of 4 home cameras (2 doorbell cams, 2 spotlight cams) in August 2022. Installed and went through hell trying to get the four working on the network. But fought through it even after calling tech support and getting zero help. Earlier this year I noticed one of the doorbells would immediately go offline when someone rang the bell. Went through hoops trying to reset, test, and figure out what I may have done wrong. Last week decided to try tech support again. First attempt simply told me my product was out of warranty but they would happily transfer me to sales so I could purchase a replacement. When I asked for more assistance to troubleshoot, they told me someone would call me back in 24-48 hours. Amazingly they did call and started working through the troubleshooting process. Went through the entire list of items then they decided it must be my wiring. Since the bell worked find for most of a year, then started failing, and nothing was done anywhere near the wiring, that seemed wrong. Further discussion yielded the fact my product was not under warranty, then the tech suddenly changed his opinion to the product is likely bad and he would transfer me to sales so I could purchase a replacement! As soon as that call was complete, they closed the ticket with no resolution. 8/15/2017 - After leaving some negative reviews, Lorex reached out and let me know that a replacement NVR had been shipped. Someone forgot to tell the customer service people to ship the NVR because its a week later and there is no tracking number, no NVR. And I've been sitting on hold for 40 minutes this morning waiting to talk to someone. Lorex, following up with a customer and LYING doesn't really help. You guys acknowledged the NVR was defective. You guys received the defective NVR back. Why don't you do the right thing and send the replacement that should have been sent 2 months ago. 9/1/2017 - Update. Received the 3rd replacement NVR (its the one I sent back months ago) a week ago. Last night, cursor in the upper left quadrant and the software wouldn't load. THANK GOD I bought it at Costco. Still really upset that I'm out the installation cost of this system but at least I will be getting my $2500 for the system back. For my replacement security system, I'm calling the technical support line first and seeing how long it takes to get through. I WAS a corporate customer with 36 cameras, 5 DRV's and a growing business. Once we discovered Lorex made a small mistake resulting in a roughly $1,780 loss they completely abandoned the relationship. Couldnt and wouldnt give any explinations all they wanted to do was end communications as quickly as possible. If you have any issues beyond the smallest of technical issues that can be troubleshot over the phone they WILL abandon you. I got a great deal on a Lorex video security system at Costco, but it's been nothing but headaches and hassles ever since. The set itself looked to be of good quality, and truth be told the cameras have held up well. However the DVR and their FLIR cloud, the nerve center of the system, has been an unmitigated nightmare. The main problem is that you're basically required to connect to your cams via the FLIR cloud. It's quite unlike the old (but more reliable) IP cams which I used in the past with great success. With those, you just put the IP address and port into a viewing app, open the port on your router, and you're good to go. With Lorex, you're at the mercy of their cloud to view anything. Anyway, after a professional installation, we started it up, but the system would not connect to the FLIR cloud no matter what we did. Our internet here is verizon Fios which is ridiculously fast for every other application, but with the Lorex DVR and the FLIR cloud it was always slow and unresponsive. So aggravating I can't even begin to tell you. We contacted them about it via their support site, but we ultimately had to find solutions ourselves on video security forums when they gave us useless canned answer after useless canned answer. With the help of random Lorex owners online, we tweaked the setup a bit and finally got it to connect, but the feed was often unreliable, slow and choppy. Video quality was also far what the 1080p cams were showing locally. The worst part of the entire system was the stupid, unstable Lorex FLIR cloud app. Aside from feeds timing out or not loading up at all, the mobile playback feature to view stored footage constantly failed. Normally you should be able to pull up any clip for the past 24 hours from any of the cameras. However, it never worked for us, not even a single time. We'd always have to go to the DVR itself just to playback footage. Hassle and a half. If Lorex had decent customer service then their lackluster products probably wouldn't be be so unmanageable and annoying. But they don't. They have horrendous customer service. If you email them, 50% of the time you get no reply, and the other 50% of the time you have to wait 3 to 4 days for replies. And the replies you get completely suck. Like...did you check to see if the router is working? Maybe you can unplug your router and then plug it back in! No MF, my internet and router are awesome. Everything else I own that connects to the internet is awesome. It's your product that sucks. Actually, Lorex's tech support never successfully solved any issue I had. As I mentioned previously, most of the answers came from random forums where other Lorex users were complaining to each other about terrible products and brainstorming solutions. On top of all this, my DVR had a hard drive failure just a few days after the 1 year warranty expired. In a nutshell, I despise Lorex and would advise people to steer clear of their products no matter how good a deal it is. read more

It's been a month with several calls and hours spent on the issue. Each time I call, they give a different case number and never can refer back to the old case number. I've been given 8 case numbers already. I've emailed and they never respond. Heavy accents on the phone and refuse to send confirmation emails about what you were just promised on the phone. They tell me they are sending me a new NVR, but also tell me they can't send me an email stating that. Speaking to a "supervisor" was handing the phone off to the guy in the next cubical, who had a heavier accent. The good: No issues with the hardware itself so far, seems solid, works well, had a few technical hiccups but thankfully nothing I couldn't sort myself. Even managed to save a couple hundred on the hardware because their website is poorly coded and old coupon codes were still applicable. The bad: Their customer service is a joke, and their website is poorly, and apparently even maliciously coded. Issues I found since purchasing their product include the aforementioned badly coded website, not only could I apply older coupon codes to my purchase, but an item I purchased is mislabeled on their website. I purchased the 8 pack of junction boxes white for my cameras, they sent me black. My invoice and purchase history all show white for pictures and descriptions, but the product code ending in B indicates that its black according to their barely audible customer service phone line. Also, don't trust the reviews on their website, they are screened or (most likely) fake. I attempted to post 3 reviews to the product and upon hitting post and refreshing the page, they instantly disappeared. No evidence of them in my account immediately after posting them. Overall: The products seem okay if you get the right ones, but the company are predatory, malicious, and don't give a shit about you the customer. My advice? Support a different company. They sell product with no service. Have the Wi-Fi HD camera, after 3 months, had to reset to get it working again. Originally using the Flir app, on holidays and go to access app, told that we are migrated to the Lorex app. I'm now shut out of the Flir app, download the Lorex app, I log into my account, can see the my camera on the list but can't access it unless I have the camera password which is at home. Called the service line, talked to a tech, they can't give me access, can't revert back to the old account. Went on-line, given a ticket number for referral, received an email later that day say they were happy to resolve my problem, they never even contacted me, I sent a reply email saying "Not resolved!". Had no reply back. Called the line the next day, busy, after 10 minutes you have the option of a call back to your number. Did this twice with 2 different phone numbers, not one call back, that was 2 days ago. It should be zero star! Purchased a system that was wireless to set up outdoors battery run. 4 cameras with an NVR and whatever accessories included. Need to charge batteries 1st. So after charging batteries the hassle began. Bought a monitor and after constant communications with Tech " support" it was discovered firmware outdated. They emailed the update and after hours of trying to upload to NVR called Lorex and decided to return! The tech I spoke to tried to assist in update but it was a problem due to NVR. She emailed me instructions for an exchange of the JUST the NVR which I followed and included pictures of serial numbers of all cameras and model # of NVR. Next day received a call with message that the picture format couldn't downloaded. I was infuriated and called to ask what am I suppose to do? No help at all and phone went dead! Called the next day for a return label no more working with them on this! As soon as I hang up I receive the below email before a return label is sent! Purchased a 6 camera system direct from Lorex Canada, including 2 PTZ night vision cameras. Night vision works on the 4 regular cameras but not on PTZ. (as advertised) For 6 months I have had over 30 calls to them, unplugged and removed and reinstalled the cameras. Installed two replacement cameras. They could not find the problem. My case was finally escalated to different department. I was told I need light to make them work and there was nothing they would do for me. Since we are a business we did not have time to request a return within the 1 month warranty period, that apparently starts when you submit the order. They refused to swap out the cameras for compatible ones. They are pricing their cameras at high prices but do not deliver quality.
