Just had one of the worst customer service experiences I've had in a while. I stopped by on my way…read morehome because I was craving BBQ. I've been here a few times before, mainly for the sides, but after this experience I honestly don't know if I'll return. I ordered a lunch chicken plate and was never told it would take over 40 minutes. Had I known, I either wouldn't have ordered or would have asked for a refund much sooner. Meanwhile, customer after customer who ordered after me received their food before I did. When I finally got my order, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. I asked if there was anything they could do for the inconvenience, and the only thing offered was a free slushy. I don't even drink soda. A side dish or something more thoughtful would have made more sense. To make matters worse, when I got home, the chicken portion was very small and the two sides were tiny about the size of dressing cups. It's disappointing because I actually do like their flavors, but good food only goes so far when the customer service experience is this poor.

The dining room was pretty empty but I was eyeballing the patio section (cuz I WILL be coming back)! I didn't realize it was counter ordering, (which sometimes gives me a sense of pressure cuz I like to take my time reviewing every item on the menu first), but luckily there were folks in front of us and nobody behind us (so I had a little time). I ordered the brisket grilled cheese and waffle fries, while my husband had the Nashville hot chicken fries. They had a BOGO deal on beer (he approved of the Mexican Lager) and I had the strawberry lemonade. Everything was amazing and the workers were really nice. We'll be back!!

Couldn't believe what I saw on both Yelp and Apple Maps, 4.8 stars and over 100+ reviews and this spot is in Compton, my city. Didn't even know a spot like this existed. Busted a u-turn going down Alondra so I could go back to Atlantic then make that right and slide to Compton Blvd and make that left. A few streets from there on your right side you'll find boulevard gastropub. Sitting next door to some other business which is right next to a big parking lot which is free by the way. I've parked in this lot at least a couple of times just to go to that taco truck and never noticed gastropub. Immediately when I walked in it was good vibes and the sense of a good atmosphere. I was greeted by the owner and a young lady who was the bartender. The owner is real cool. We had a short conversation I shared with him how I discovered his business and informed him I do reviews as well as post some content on my social media platforms in hopes of businesses receiving more attention and customers. Unfortunately, due to them not having an alcohol or liquor license, some of their drinks such as the cocktails are more so wine based drinks. So please don't come here expecting to get some Don Julio or Hennessy. Ain't gone happen lol. I had a Classic Mojito and enjoyed it. The price was $10 which I found exceptional. The food was delicious. I recommend the Blvd Burger as a go to if you can't decide on anything else. I loved it so much I had to make a video. And definitely try the Voodoo Wings. You won't be disappointed. Just imagine buffalo wings with lemon pepper seasoning. Cuz that's what it is and they're fire. No bs with the ranch dressing too. I'm definitely returning for another visit. I can see this being a new frequent spot to pull up to and hang out. I love the ambiance, my drink, the food here and the customer service. All things to be considered when going out and spending money. What I spent was definitely worth the first time experience.

The restaurant itself is small but mighty, with a cozy feel and a menu that delivers. Everything is made to order, and they offer a rotating selection of local craft beers, which is a nice touch if you like trying something new. We ordered the spicy Korean wings, and thankfully they were not overly spicy, making them easy to enjoy. The real standout, though, was the Blvd burger. It was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their burgers. Overall, the prices were better than most places, especially considering the quality. Definitely worth a visit.

I'll definitely be back, and the cheesecake alone is worth another visit.

After enduring weeks of record breaking heat in Long Beach, this was the perfect place to land as the Summer Breeze... Makes Me Feel Fineeee again. A very well but gently lit space that still feels cozy and spacious. The outside gives no indication of how well the inside has been designed. Great for lunch or dinner dates. Noise level was low and there's no feeling of a chaotic restaurant environment. Food/Service 1-5: 4.8 I order the shrimp and lobsters fettuccine, bone marrow as an appetizer. My company ordered the lamb burger. All dishes we beautifully plated; true works of art. Neither of us had any complaints about presentation and creativity. As far as taste and as excited as we were to dig in to our food, the ONLY setback was the lack of seasoning mainly salt. I'm aware that a Chef does their best to meet the expectations of their guest. I'm also aware that meeting everyone's expectations is impossible. To confirm my advice of needing some salt in the food I patrons the restaurant twice, two days in a row. The food needs more salt and I stand solid on that opinion. The service was great and I thanked Mel for taking such great care of us. Mel is a rockstar! Diversity score 1-5: 4 The restaurant definitely appeals to diverse crowds. It reminded of the days I frequented Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster in Harlem, NY. Go again score 1-5: 5, Absolutely. I do hope I don't have to keep bothering the server for salt and pepper.

I love the music they play. I am so sick of elevator music and they don't do that. I really enjoy that. All of their food is great, but I am hooked on their salads. Perfectly cooked. Crispy exterior that doesn't cut your mouth like a baguette. PERFECT potato bun. shrimp taco - Balanced deep fried heaviness with a ton of cabbage. It's $4.99 each, but substantial enough to beat out other seafood tacos where you might get 3 (junkier, less thoughtful) tacos for the price of 2 of Uncle Mac's tacos. tom yum fries - I might pass on these next time. They were good but more of a novelty item. Wildly crispy with a pillowy center. Idk who's on the fryer back there, but they got secrets the world needs to know about. clam chowder - lighter side. Actually ideal for me. Not thick and buttery. Without losing and quality in flavor. Food's good. Sauces were good. Ranch, tartar, their special green sauce. All good. Only issue? I'm torn between wanting to come back and try the rest of the menu and simply not being sure if I want to come back. And I'm still trying to figure out why that is. Uncle Mac's Kitchen is mostly that, a kitchen. There are tributes to the actual guy, Uncle Mac, posted in the restaurant. And I have no doubts that the food makes Uncle Mac proud. But the ambiance is quite bleak. Half of the decor are tribute pieces to the late Mac and I think what it's missing is Mac's soul. His spirit. The joy of making this food. Not just nods to his existence that feel like an emotional totem to this restaurant's creator and staff. I went to Uncle Mac's. I saw his tributes along the walls. I tasted Uncle Mac's fish sandwich. And I was left wondering where the rest of him was. The sandwich was so good with the PERFECT potato bun and I just started to wonder who the inspiration for all of this was. The tacos are named after Mac's friends. The wall art are photos of where Mac hung around in Gardena. But the ambiance throws the whole story away. Or something about this felt hollow. I knew I wanted to eat this food. I don't think I want to eat it in this dining room. (But I also don't want to take their perfectly friend food to go..) I worry that I'm asking for too much, but I just couldn't land on what the store was trying to achieve OTHER THAN honor the late, great Uncle Mac specifically through food. Was it to be the neighborhood lunch spot? The love letter to Gardena? The premier seafood kitchen of the (more inland parts of) South Bay? My brain needed a place to land itself. The street facing windows have illustrations of fish. But the interior was either Uncle Mac or the menu items. Images of Gardena paid tribute to Mac's stomping grounds. But no lunch specials to integrate with the community of working class. I kept jostling the brand around in my head, trying to find the angle from which the UMK could truly shine, but then I realized it wasn't my decision to make. I think there's a way that Uncle Mac's KITCHEN can decide on who they want to be and how they can telegraph that identity to its patrons. And I look forward to seeing this place grow over time.

Trying several items on the menu provided us a nice sampling of what they have to offer. We enjoyed everything we ordered. My favorite was probably the Brussel sprouts as they were cooked to perfection and not sweet like most restaurants serve them. A close 2nd was the chicken parmesan served over zucchini noodles. The final item ordered was a mushroom pasta with shrimp. The shrimp were fantastic with a light char and perfect flavoring. The pasta was good. It was a bit to spicy for me with the chili oil so I only had a small portion. The inside is simple yet inviting with an open layout.
