Alright, here's the deal with Lorena's - It is all about the Chili Verde! If you stick with chili-verde dishes you will be a fan. The smothered burritos w/cheese are where it's at, jeuvos rancheros is good, potatoes smothered in verde w/cheese = yum! The food is your standard non-offensive Mexican-American faire that I enjoy often. I like the Chicken Flautas and Chimichangas. The prices are great -- I can feed my family for $20 and we all leave full with leftovers. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is a few people on their service staff are not as attentive as others. This place has decent food...it's the service that completely sucks! We had to ask several times for a straw and lemons for our drinks, we ended up getting them ourselves and was then scolded for doing so. A customer was seated near us and sat for several minutes a waitress finally walked past him and asked if he'd been helped he said no he was still waiting, the waitress then yelled across the restaurant in Spanish "the liar says he's been sitting here for 10 minutes" unacceptable. The food does not make up for the horrible service, I'll never return. I suggest you don't go unless you liked being talked about in Spanish . We moved from SLC to Bountiful my husband wanted to try the local restaurants. We normally eat at Mi Ranchito. I'd rather drove the 20 mins to go there. Here the menu wasn't informative, staff wasn't friendly, they nickel and dime you for chips and Soda refills. Food was big but not tasty and no guacamole. Go else where. read more

I've been coming here for years and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had here. There were three of us, the service and food were good as usual. However, when it came time to pay, the lady at the register could not split it. We all got al a carte plates which should have only come out to $20-$25. It came out to $39 for no reason. And when we tried to explain why it shouldn't be that much, the lady argued with us and said that's what it's going to be and charged us for extras that didn't need to be on there. During COVID my family has tried to support local restaurants. This is the fifth time for Lorenas and every time we have had issues. First time they over charged us by $20, we called and they gave us a credit for our next visit. The second time they left out part of our order we did not notice until we got home, we called and I went back and picked it up. The third time they left out part of our order again, but I caught it at the restaurant (learned from the first time). The fourth time we ordered an enchilada on a flour tortilla as my wife had an allergy to corn, when we got it home it was on corn. Tonight we made an order for pick up and was told 15 minutes, after walking in to check if it was done we were told to take a seat and wait for it in the waiting room. After 45 minutes I walked back in and was told it still wasn't done and to take a seat. I asked them if they remembered they told had told us 15 minutes to which I got an eye roll and the hostess' back turned to me and walked away. The food is good, but I will take my hard earned money elsewhere from now on who can provide better customer service. So disappointing! read more

Me and my family have came here for years, we've always loved the staff and food here with no complaints!

This has become a lunch staple with my coworkers and I. Their specials are huge amounts of food for really cheap and the speed of their service can not be beat. They have this huge restaurant running like a well oiled machine. We go with a minimum of 5 of us and we can get in and out in a half hour sometimes. On top of it their mole, enchilada sauce, homemade tortillas and refried beans are all good. If you like simple Mexican food this is a good place to check out. read more

Lorena's chile verde is overrated, I tried this a while back the sauce was good but it literally had no MEAT it had more onions in the burrito than meat. The only thing I like are the chips and salsa. read more

I am sad to say that we went to eat here with a party of 7, when the waitress came she asked us what we wanted. No welcome or how are you, it felt as though the waiters were really busy and offered mediocre service! We asked twice for a small cup for the 4 year old with us, but wound up having to get it ourselves! Kinda annoying! Then we asked for separate checks and she didn't do that, BUT she did the gratuity that she didn't even deserve! When we got to front to pay, they lady at register was unable to separate our checks and said the waitress would have to do it?!? Seriously, how hard is it to just separate the meals? Anyway we waited for 15 minutes the waitress NEVER came so we wound up just paying it and took care of the $ later! I use to love this place. The past 3 times I've been there I have had the same waitress. A heavyset Hispanic lady with highlights in her hair that is super loud and obnoxious that gave me some of the worst service I have ever had. I cannot believe it was recommended to me and even more I can't believe they are still open. No flavor, no seasoning what so ever, who has ever had BLAND Mexican food. Yes the portions are big, but there is no quality. Nothing is fresh, the meat in my enchilada was PINK and tasteless, the rice was undercooked and had less taste than white rice with salt. Well what can I say? The service was ok once they got to us. The waiter was really overworked, I assume they were understaffed. Unfortunately he got the order wrong. Not too complicated, beef enchilada with chili verde, no ranchero sauce. My husband really emphasized it. The waiter seemed harried and he got it wrong. Since he was spread so thin we never saw him until he brought the check. The atmosphere here is plenty casual, quite worn down and shabby. But we knew this going in. The food here is just ok. It is consistently just ok! My husband usually likes it more then I do, tonight not so much. They do a banging business so lots of people must really love this place! The placed was packed, so I thought it'd be decent. I was wrong. The salsa for the chips came in a ketchup squeeze bottle and had little flavor. (The chips do not have free refills, just fyi.) I ordered the chicken fajitas and I only ate my food because I was hungry. I also ordered a piña colada beverage and I couldn't finish it. Yuck. The service was horrible. We ordered 2 drinks and they only brought one. We asked for the second drink two more times and only recieved it until our meal was almost over. When we said that we ordered two drinks, the waiter was argumentative and said that he didn't hear that, even though we saw him write it down. Then, I ordered a beef smothered burrito and it came as only a bean burrito. When I asked the waiter, he was argumentative again about what I had ordered. It was impossible to get our waiter to the table, so I asked another employee if we could get a box and she looked at me like I killed her dog. I will NEVER return to this place. First time to eat here and was recommended by a friend. Service was real good, they sat us very quickly, Chips and salsa was real good and the food came out in a reasonable time. The atmosphere was EXTREMELY loud in the back room. We were seated quickly and greeted by our waiter just as quick. There were 5 in our party. Most ordered cheese enchiladas. I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga. The enchiladas were pretty good. The rice and beans were standard, nothing special was expected. The chimichanga had good meat, but was kind of bland. No sauces. No smother. I guess I could have asked for that, but I didn't know it would come totally plain. It did come with a single serve tube of sour cream, which looked as appetizing as it sounds. We were in the mood for Mexican food so we decided to go here. We were seated and waited for a very long time for our server to take our orders. I ended up ordering the Supreme nachos. Big mistake. Not great. We had a group of four that went. They didn't offer us any drinks, but just gave a pitcher of water. We ordered our food, and she brought us our food that was mediocre. The beans weren't great, the rice was alright, the inside of my burritos was warm, but not even warm enough to melt the cheese. Best thing about this place was the salsa. The sour cream was brought out to us in individual tubes. It was like gogurt-style sour cream. Prices were on par with most places of this level, and you can get a 5% discount if you pay with cash. The flavor isn't bad, but the presentation is TERRIBLE!!! I ordered quesadillas for my kids and received open faced tortillas with about 4 lbs of melted cheese on top. One of these was a chicken quesadilla and it had pretty gross shredded chicken mixed into the 4 lbs of cheese. I literally scraped an entire plate full of cheese off of each quesadilla so I could fold it in half and let my kids try to eat it. The cheese grease had completely soaked through the tortillas and, even to my food adoring toddler, was virtually inedible. My husband and I both ordered fajitas for ourselves. They were not served traditionally with extra, smaller tortillas and toppings such as sour cream, guacamole, lettuce, etc. Rather all the meat, which had good flavor but was in such huge strips it was hard to even cut, was half-stuffed into one crazy thick tortilla alongside giant veggies. Neither one of us knew how to even begin to eat it, it was so awkward. There was plenty of food, but we all left a bit hungry still because what we were served was definitely not "user friendly". Fast service. They have many waiters who have worked there for years, so there is some consistency. Very La Fontera-esq. Good chili verde and tamales. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The quality of the food can vary, but is never poor. Sometimes the cheese enchiladas come to the table a bit under-cooked. Very cheeky decor.
