I was venturing pretty far away from the center because I wasn't impressed with my options. Then, fortunately, I stumbled upon this unassuming stand which had a line of locals queuing. The sign read "$1.25 tacos" ... Down!! But can they do a veggie taco? Without cheese? What's a veggie taco without cheese?... (I had just turned vegan at the time) The servers were so nice and accommodating. I asked them if they could accommodate for my request and they happily obliged. The lead cook confidently said they'd whip something good for me. Few minutes later I had a LOADED veggie burrito with grilled veggies, avocado, rice, and beans. I brought it back to the convention center and unprofessionally scarved that thing down in front of my colleagues. As a newly vegan who was skeptical that Mexican food could be delicious without cheese, I appreciated that they didn't just throw rice and beans in a tortilla and called it a day. I was impressed that they had veggies outside of just lettuce and also avocado. I hope that more and more taco trucks in LA would have that available for veggie lovers too.
