I've been here a few times in recent years. I love their drinks and would be a regular if I was still working in the area. My favorite is the Nutella latte; whether you get it hot or iced it tastes amazing! The shop itself is nicely set up, intimate and cozy. My only complaint is that's it's a little too cozy. The seats and tables are quite small and there isn't much space to do more than drink. Don't expect to come in here with your laptop and books and camp out like you can in a Starbucks. Lorca is a very cute coffee shop/cafe enhancing Bedford St and Stamford in general- felt very New York to me! Love the mural on one wall. The space is pretty small so I would not reccomend coming with a group. Order at the counter and grab your food there. Friend had a breakfast panini which looked delicious- at least a few options I wanted to try. Abiding by a GF diet, I had a limited choice and went with the oatmeal which was good. Finally, the downtown area has a locally owned coffee shop perfect to grab a cappuccino at, open up your laptop, and while away the hours munching on delicious, delectable churros. The space is small but cozy with funky decor and fantastic music on at all times. Also, the alfajores are simply amazing. Beyond anything I've ever had. I am so enthusiastic for this place, because I've been begging ever since I moved to the area for a spot downtown that crafted true European coffee and offered fresh baked goods. Perfect Churros and delicious coffee. I just got back from Lorca after essentially stalking it for the past four months. I have been WAITING for it to open with ever increasing expectations. I am happy to report they were all met. The cappuccino was artful and smooth and even the standard coffee was great. The churros come with a choice of dipping sauce and we chose the mexican which had a hint of spice and quality chocolate flavor. My favorite add on to the coffee and churros is that they also sell Wave Hill pastries and bread. Any one who has tried either knows how amazing they both are - and to have them available in downtown Stamford really is a dream come true for me. I highly recommend this place for anyone that wants good coffee that is tired of Starbucks - or just wants to support local businesses. I fully intend on going back many times to try all three varieties of dipping sauce and I am quite sure I will not be disappointed. I took off one star because there's not a large selection of coffee or food. But it's a cute cafe and a good place to do your work.

Lorca is the Jewel of Stamford. Walk in and you will immediately notice there is something different there. The staff are incredibly friendly, the vibe is cool, windows are open when the weather is nice, and there are tiny baked goods. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE. Your cup of coffee is going to cost more than Dunkin' Donuts but don't you know that a perfect cup of coffee is a MIRACLE like there are so many opportunities in the coffee making process for something to go awry and end up tasting horrible but instead it tastes AMAZING because Lorca gets it right. I will gladly pay dollah, dollah bills for that. And you can SELECT A SIZE for your churro order. So like, if you are worried your friends are going to want some you can just order a dozen churros (hint: do this). The breakfast sandwiches are for real. The chocolate croissants are for real. The WiFi is solid and you will see at least three of your neighbors if you decide to tuck in and get work done here. Even the bathroom is majestic. The cutest coffee joint in Stamford hands down. The atmosphere is lovely and you can tell these people are passionate about their craft. Place is small and gets insanely packed on the weekends (think lines outside of the door by 8am) but that is an indication of its popularity and how much the locals love Lorca! If you have to order something, please do yourself a favor and order the churros with dulce de leche/Nutella sauce on the side. It's heavenly. They're made hot and fresh to order so give them some time before it comes out. It's perfect for when you have an insatiable sweet tooth. Crunchy, sweet, and salty all at the same time. Great little coffee shop that served a wonderful breakfast. We shared the Classic. Bacon, Egg, & Cheddar on grilled country bread. Something we've made or brought 1000's of times. Quality espresso/coffee/tea spot. Churros were great. Get some sauce, or dip them in your drink. Get super crazy and do both, I'm going bananas with all this dunking! The only thing this place needs more of, is seating and plugs. Maybe put a table or two outside. It may not be possible with Stamford rules/regulations on sidewalks. Tip: Speaking of crappy rules, don't get suckered into placing coins in the meters on Sunday, it's free. Conveniently, the city does not post that on the meters in a spot most people will see. They hide that information on the back side, inside the meter, where you would probably never look if placing coins in from the front. Guaranteed they do this on purpose to fleece the public. I saw a bunch of "greens" walking down the street because people were not well informed. I doubt those people just wanted to donate money to the city. Why is that info not posted on the outside (in big letters) of the meters, on both sides? Hmmmmm. read more

My favorite local coffee place in Stamford - the shop is small with only few table seating and whenever I am in, it's usually all taken. Fortunately, I am in and out! I am normally in there Saturday morning's and there's normally a line but the service is very quick. All the staffs are very friendly - my go to is their ice coffee or the latte and never been disappointed. And who doesn't love CHURROS??? It's fried, sweet, and comes with different dipping sauce options! Their churros are thin and fried to perfection with generous sugar dusting that makes it even more sweeter. I have tried all 3 dipping sauces (dark chocolate, dulce de leche and the mexican chocolate) and my favorite is the dulce de leche -- but don't get me wrong, they are all good! You will just have to try them all for yourself. I normally ask for two different dipping sauces when I order because I am hardcore dipper - and they have always been ok with it. I wished more local coffee shops as Lorca would pop up in Stamford. Just one thing is - wish they could expand so there are more seating options. Sometimes when it's too crowded and people are sitting on the high top tables, I don't know where to go while I wait for my coffee - feels like everywhere I stand is in someone's way. read more

Such a cute coffee shop! I went here to get some work done, yes they have free wi-fi, I had a latte and the chorizo breakfast sandwich, which was LIT! I've been back several times and each time is just as delicious as the first! They have great coffee from counter culture and a wide selection of breakfast sandwiches and treats so there's something for everyone. Their Apple streusel was probably my favorite treat I've tried so far, it's so full of flavor and the perfect size. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for good coffee and tasty food. The spicy Mexican Chocolate was delicious to taste. The coffee was smooth and brewed to order. I want this place to be every where I am when I have the desire for coffee, a tasty treat, or to kill an hour. It's the perfect coffee shop for any hipster or aging hipster and in Stamford to boot (I love watching the evolution of Stamford.) This is a great space in a great location. Selfishly, I don't want too many people to go though or I won't get a seat (3 or 4 person coffee bar, 5 tables of 2). :-) On to the food - 3 churros and an array of sauces ($4.70) drip coffee ($2.73) for total of $7.90. Dark chocolate sauce a little thin, but tasty. The mexican chocolate and caramel were better in my opinion. Churros were light and crispy. I easily ate the 3 of them myself. I feel like Lorca was personally made for me. The cafe itself is beautifully designed- from the lighting and exposed ducts to the seating and even the little chalk board outside. Walking in, I already feel happier. :) The miniature, locally made baked goods are scrumptious and impossible to pass up. If you try nothing else, I suggest the earl grey shortbread cookie and one of the mini cupcakes- heaven! The coffee & tea, also delicious. I especially love the lorchata. Service is warm & friendly while also speedy & efficient. Everything is cheap, despite the beautiful modern design that might suggest higher prices. You can sit at Lorca on your laptop or with a friend for hours, sampling treats and sipping tea, and come out only $10-15 lighter. Love this spot! read more

I'm visiting from out of town and walked here for a proper matcha (it's the only spot in the area that offered them) I was so disappointed. Pics look cute enough online but this place could use a deep cleaning and a bit of TLC. Staff seemed friendly but I couldn't get over how filthy things behind the counter in the food/serving area. I was appalled to see my matcha was being stirred with a bamboo whisk that was sitting in a dirty plastic cup. Also appalled to see the server come from the kitchen with a stained apron to prepare my drink. :( read more

Good place for a quick coffee. Not a good place to spend time. Very cramped quarters. No where to sit - especially if trying to have coffee and pastries with colleagues. All in all a nice addition to Bedford street. Will continue to visit for quick in and out coffee. Selections of pastries are also decent. read more

The fresh churros with chocolate dipping sauce at Lorca are truly indulgent. Add in a nicely crafted coffee beverage, and it's like a mini getaway in the middle of your day. I stopped into this little coffee shop for the first time when I was in the area last week. The iced soy latte I got offered a nice little pick-me-up, and the churros were a real treat. Freshly fried, crispy, and chewy with just enough sweetness, the churros were perfect with the bittersweet Mexican chocolate dipping sauce with chili and cinnamon that I decided to pair them with. The menu items were a little on the pricier side (I spent almost $10 for my latte and three churros), and there wasn't much space to sit after five or so people with laptops decided to camp out at the few tables inside, but Lorca offered some quality coffee and sweet treats in a lovely atmosphere. There were a few dipping sauces to choose from for the churros, plus an assortment of baked goods as well as breakfast and lunch items. Great pastries, great food, great location, coffee is ok but overly precious baristas - attitude like you wouldn't believe.

The place was cute and their pastries despite being one day old were ok but their coffee of the day was horrible!! They should call it "the coffee for the day" Although my husband asked the owner if the coffee was fresh before placing our order and she replied "yes". When we first took a sip it tasted bitter. If they really want to be a great coffee place they should get rid of their coffee after one hour because you can taste the bitterness of coffee that has been sitting for a while in the pot. Saving money on brewing fresh coffee can make you loose clients. For now, I don't think I will switch from my beloved Starbucks to this wannabe coffee place. read more
