At first glance this park is beautiful, the drive up towards the main parking area is surrounded by trees and offers a large pond with fountain. There is also a large overlook where you can sit & enjoy the view. However, the view was a bit frustrating as the entire pond had large amounts of trash surrounding the edges. You can fish here but it is strictly catch & release. Although, other than a large amount of dead snails & fish I'm not sure what you'll find. I realize the pond was low but this should make it all the more easier to maintain.
There are at least two trails winding through the woods but it's difficult to tell which path you're on on where to go. The only signage marking the paths are random planks of badly weathered wood with dull red or blue paint. Some are broken and lying at the base of trees, others were attached to trunks but blended in with the bark. Perhaps new signs with bright colors would be more suitable for visitors.
The trails are wide dirt paths with very few obstructions, however you might get stuck in the mud if it's damp out...I would not recommend these trails if you're in a wheelchair. Towards the back of the property is an ugly cookie cutter development- such an eye sore! And the trails are littered with broken benches but are very quiet & relaxing. There's even a neat old fireplace and a few pavilions with grills. It also offers a large playground and huge field. I think if the park was cleaned up a bit & things were fixed it would be one I would return to regularly. read more
