We immediately went to the park, and my kids had an absolute blast. They're 3 and 1, but I saw plenty of older kids having fun as well. We checked out the lake, which was super pretty (watch out for goose poop!). I noticed some people fishing, and it looked like there were canoes around too! We then decided to have some lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables, so finding a spot to sit is not a problem. We ended the visit with one more trip to the park and then left. My kids were EXHAUSTED afterward, and I always appreciate a place that can tire them out. I'd like to visit again on a solo trip and walk a few miles around the lake next time!

There's a nearby park that has alot of activities for kids, decent restrooms and even canoe rentals. We hiked the entire trail around the pond and it was absolutely beautiful and peaceful. It can be really muddy depending on when you go. Structures are in solid standing. Trail features small slopes so it's not completely flat. Great place to visit.

What an awesome place to kayak! There are so many coves to paddle through. I enjoy the coves as it is quiet and peaceful and I can sit back in the shade and read my book and eat my snacks. My husband loves this place as he loves to fish and he has been doing pretty well catching fish in the kayak. We have an enjoyable time every time that we are on this lake. Actually this is our favorite spot so far. We have explored so much of this lake but it is so big that it will take us a long time to explore the rest of it and we are totally fine with it. We can't wait to get back on this lake and kayak around. Hmmm maybe today haha!!

Wedged in between two factories, this cute park is a little hard to find. The bland sign blends…read moreinto the background so you really have to pay attention to see the entrance. Yet, once you find this hidden patch of Earth (a rarity in the overly congested & ugly Tallmadge) you won't be disappointed. Although there aren't any paths running through the park itself, it sits directly next to the paved tow path that connects to Freedom Trail all the way down to Tannery Park in Kent. This park, however, offers large, lushes fields to do as you please. From baseball to 2/3 playgrounds, a large hall (with kitchen) for rentals & multiple pavilions it is a spacious, clean & secluded place to have an event or go for a walk. If you own a dog who has some behavioral issues, I recommend coming here as there's more than enough space to avoid other dog owners. Another nice characteristic is that there is parking directly next to the hall & a few of the shelter houses (if you access them through the housing development that hugs the side of the property) which makes setting up easy. There are also a number of bathrooms and grills for cookouts as well.

I live near this park and have been using it for over 60 years. Here is some updated information:…read moreSwimming is no longer allowed. (for humans) Dogs can swim on Thursdays only. There is no charge to get in. The paved road around the lake has been split into a one-way driving/biking road and a with an adjacent walking lane. There is a Hike/bike trail called The Freedom Trail that borders this park. Metro Parks Summit County is going to add a connector trail between them in 2026. The Freedom Trail in this area is a rail trail, so it is pretty flat. There is an area called Tallmadge Meadows that to me is a separate park, because the two areas have very different prior ownership and history, but Metro Parks considers them to be the same park. The parking for Tallmadge Meadows is right around the corner from South River Rd. on South Main St. (Rt 91). There is also a trailhead in Munroe Falls for the Summit County Bike and Hike Trail. It is about a ¼ mile North of South River Rd and runs along the Cuyahoga River. I used to be a Firefighter/EMT in Munroe Falls and it was not unusual for us to get called out to the "Metro Park" and have to ask, "which one"? All 3 of these are great parks and I consider myself luck to live in between them.

A fantastic place to bring young children, Phillps Park offers a 8 acre lot which includes a soccer field & pavilion with plenty of parking- a great place to have a party or reunion. Although I'm confused by the history of the park, it appears that there was once a very large structure at the back of the property; as there is a very muddy section with broken concrete & clay pipes...perhaps this used to be the tennis courts? This park is quiet and somewhat unknown as it sits on a side road. I found its hidden location to be peaceful & relaxing place to walk/play with the dogs. Although there are no paths, it is also a good place to exercise where you wont have to be worried about annoying bicyclists running you over or not having enough distance between you & other dog owners. Again, a good place for any occasion!
