There is a picnic area and some bathrooms but the bathrooms are very old. I remember coming to this park as a kid and being my kids as well.

There's walking paths, well paved and maintained, LOTS of benches in different locations, a really cool play area, and a little sand strip. The signs say no swimming, but there's usually someone in the water - there's no life guard, and you can sit on the big rocks or directly on the sand. Parking is a bit tricky. There are maybe 2 dozen spots in the park, and no street parking directly outside, so you may have to circle a few times or walk a few blocks in if it's busy. My dog loves it here. There's plenty to sniff, and she's usually guaranteed a dead fish or two to hunt for (Mom does not approve this activity).

Now I already know I'll be back, because we only explored part of it -- but what my sister, her pup, and I wandered through was fun, peaceful, and a little adventurous. At one point there was literally a giant mallard just standing in the middle of the woods like he owned the place. And then there were stairs that climb straight up the side of the mountain -- okay, hill -- but it felt like a mountain in the best way. The whole walk made me feel free. If you ever find yourself wanting a moment outside, a breath of fresh air, or just a place to wander, stop here. It's worth it.

The park has plenty of parking, depending on what area you would like to explore. There is a golf course and multiple areas for fishing. You can also take your kayak and kayak the emerald necklace. Very pretty during the fall. I recommend bringing a picnic to one of the many picnic areas or sitting on one of the many benches throughout the park and enjoying mother nature.

Middle school we would ride our bikes there at 7-8am. Ride around there all day. Catching river roaches, toads, fishing, swimming. There was a rope we would swing off of into the murky, foamy water. What doesnt kill you.. and whatever else we conjured up to cause chaos that day. High school, it served a different purpose. Valley cruises whenever possible. Nowadays I just walk the trails and reminisce. In closing, I absolutely love this place and am very grateful we have this gorgeous slice of heaven in our backyards.

There is also a playground, basketball court, soccer field, and grass filled baseball diamond. Nothing fancy, but the grounds seem to be well kept, although probably not highly used. There are a couple parking spots, a picnic shelter and a restroom. My only disappointment was that the water fountain did not work. Typical park rules like open from dawn to dusk, pets on a leash, pick up your dog poo, and no alcohol. I would definitely visit this park again, especially if I'm looking for a quiet place to walk.

Super neat & wide view of the lake! Winter warning if it's cold where you are AWAY from the lake, it will feel like ICE hitting your body uncovered face when you actually get to the lake. Huntington Beach has less of a crowd in the Winter, but it is just as alluring a Summertime visits. Has many stairs that you have to carefully use to get to the beach. It often is very slippery. The waves make things wet. It isn't much of a beach. This is pretty rocky. Swimming is allowed. The water is very dangerous looking. It's not a place for amateurs. This also isn't just a dog park. It's okay for people to hang out at. They have a few tables at the entrance before stairs. It can be hard to get here. Parking lot is across the street. The park is like someone's back yard and there's many locals who seem to like to be here whenever.

Still by far my favorite not-an-official-dog-park place to take my pup in the summer!…read more I'm almost certain this private beach is run by dog-lovers since no one cares that there are 15-20 pooches running up and down the beach at any given moment. Again, owners are typically very responsible with poos and leashing. Just keep in mind that since this isn't officially a doggie beach, dog-less folks also love to come here just to relax. Be mindful. As a person with a small/medium sized pup, I appreciate that most folks who aren't 100% sure about their bully-breed dogs keep them leashed, just in case. I mean, this place has a dozen of pooches running up and down the beach at any given moment AND there are lots of kids--it's just considerate, even if it's not necessary. I love the mutual respect folks have for one another here and that it's a little, secret paradise humans can bring their best furry friends to enjoy! Bring water, poop bags (although they have some upstairs) and a towel to lay on. Later in the fall months the sand washes away and it's much rockier, but in the early/mid summer months the sand is plentiful.
