There's walking paths, well paved and maintained, LOTS of benches in different locations, a really cool play area, and a little sand strip. The signs say no swimming, but there's usually someone in the water - there's no life guard, and you can sit on the big rocks or directly on the sand. Parking is a bit tricky. There are maybe 2 dozen spots in the park, and no street parking directly outside, so you may have to circle a few times or walk a few blocks in if it's busy. My dog loves it here. There's plenty to sniff, and she's usually guaranteed a dead fish or two to hunt for (Mom does not approve this activity).

It's the sort of park that you wouldn't necessarily travel for. It's your run-of-the mill neighborhood park that takes up about a quarter of a block. It's across the street from the Giant Eagle on Bunts. It's got a fairly large (but obviously not Lincoln Park large) grassy area, a playground with one big swing, one baby swing, a slide/jungle gym, etc. It also has a tennis court and a water fountain. Very nice to have nearby when you don't really want to "commit" to going to Lakewood Park. But again, probably not worth it unless you a) are at Giant Eagle and want to plant yourself somewhere for a few minutes to hang out; b) have a kid and live in the vicinity, or c) want to plan to meet someone for a picnic or something.

Now I already know I'll be back, because we only explored part of it -- but what my sister, her pup, and I wandered through was fun, peaceful, and a little adventurous. At one point there was literally a giant mallard just standing in the middle of the woods like he owned the place. And then there were stairs that climb straight up the side of the mountain -- okay, hill -- but it felt like a mountain in the best way. The whole walk made me feel free. If you ever find yourself wanting a moment outside, a breath of fresh air, or just a place to wander, stop here. It's worth it.

There is a decent community pool complete with a slide for thrill seekers. There is a lot of chatter around town about Gordon Square, North Collinwood, Ohio City and other neighborhoods getting hip. I hope that Birdtown in Lakewood can make the same transition. Madison Park serves as the anchor.

I immediately got my family out, but shockingly, they continued children's swimming lessons in that same pool, exposing everyone to potential infections and harmful bacteria like E. coli. I was very surprised, as the staff usually reacts strongly to smaller issues. For example, when I first signed up, one of the female staff members, a very thin brunette, aggressively and disrespectfully yelled at my family and another woman with her daughter over a simple mistake--we brought a floaty, unaware it wasn't allowed. We aren't allowed to use noodles or dive with goggles unless we're paying for swimming lessons. How does that make sense? While some staff members are nice, others act like we're uninvited, unwelcome guests in their house, enforcing unnecessary and unreasonable rules in a rude and bossy manner. This is the first pool I've ever been to where noodles are banned, but apparently, swimming with dead birds is okay. I gave 2 stars because the pool is really beautiful and the water is often warm and pleasant. Too bad for everything else.

They also have a playground, soccer field, and basketball court; all of which people were using. I'd say this is very active well used park. A paved walking trail can be found here that gets you throughout most of the park, but more like a U shaped perimeter path than a full circle around though. They also have restrooms, a picnic shelter, a water fountain, and plenty of parking. A busy but nice park; I would visit again.

I actually like the field overall but the service we get for adult leagues is pure garbage. They NEVER work on the field anything more than they need to. If you get rain it's just a rain out, when a little diamond dry, a rake and effort would easily make it playable. We end up moving games that day which can be very inconvenient but shows other fields will work a little. Think they forget that every team is a paying customer.
