Hello yelpers fat boy is back. Well I was comparing Longhorn to Texas Roadhouse..... i finally got into Longhorn. The wait at this place is absolutely ridiculous. We got there at 12:58 we were told it'll be about a 20 minute wait. Ok fair I guess they had only been opened 2 hrs. Needless to say we waited 35 mins. Finally we were seated. Our server was JP very nice young man. But he was overwhelmed as this place is just ridiculously small and busy. I ordered the "Longhorn" since I'm comparing the Porterhouse Steak . I observed the restaurant being kind of run down. Nothing great about the look. Some open tables some booths and a small bar area. We waited another 35-40 mins before the food came! They didn't have steak fries so I ordered the baked potato instead. Not much potato not the best. 5/10 My wife had the surf and turf. Her steak and lobster was cooked nicely to her liking. She said about a 8/10 but her baked sweet potato she said 5/10 My steak was cooked perfectly!! It was 22 Oz. Flavor was good. A nice charbroiled flavor and it was seasoned well! They topped with butter that added additional flavor! I'll have to give that steak a 8.7/10. We spent a total of almost 3 hrs there. ‍ because of the LONG wait times to be seated and to receive your order is unacceptable. Other locations are probably different. I'm figuring because of the price of the steaks is why they're so busy. I go to Harry Carey for my steaks actually better dining experience, better quality of the steaks and sides. But I wanted to compare these two and see what's the hype about these two franchises. And it's definitely the price. Both places you can get a porterhouse for $35! Whereas when I go to a more upscale steakhouse a porterhouse runs me at least $125! But again it's double in weight and it's Prime cut. With that being said. The service and wait times is better at Texas Roadhouse. The sides, salad and definitely the rolls are better at Texas Roadhouse but the steak was better at Longhorn. I'd rate them even..... one isn't better than the other. It's really a preference based thing. I'm going to stick to my Harry Carey's for the best steak and experience. But For the price you can't go wrong with Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse! Remember Yelpers ALL reviews are subjective. read more

I visited my first longhorn steakhouse last week. We came for my mom's birthday. The interior was beautiful. We enjoyed the clean space. They sat us in the very back of the restaurant which was odd because there was so much open space in the front. We decided to share the entree since we weren't sure about the serving size. We had the outlaw ribeye. We also ordered a rack of ribs and the parm chicken. Everything was seasoned nicely.. I would even say.. a little salty for me. The food was quite delicious, my friend and I both had the Parmesan crusted chicken and the meat was very tender and juicy; I had the Mac and cheese with mine along with the amazing Brussel sprouts and she had the baked sweet potato, salad and rice pilaf! I have really enjoyed coming to this longhorn location in the past. This experience has really made me NEVER want to return. We waited over an hour to get our food. Then when it finally came out it was cold!! So we sent it back. Food was returned and parts of the meal were STILL cold. So we sent it back. When it was returned for a 2nd time. Some of it was STILL cold. The manger came to talk to us and he was so kind and helpful. He was able to bring us out some hot mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. He really took care of us! How have I lived here, probably a half a mile away for seven years, and had never been here before lol We have gone twice in maybe the last month. We were actually really impressed. I had this weird craving for a steak - it's something I rarely eat - and we were really happy both times. Steaks were cooked well and sides were delicious (baked sweet potatoe and a loaded potato - last time I believe I got the mashed potatoes). Was there last night 3/28/26... as I told the store manager, this was one of the worse dining experiences I've had. The wait was over an hour but there were many open tables left dirty, the food took very long, and when it did come out, it was cold. I asked for fresh mash potatoes, never got them. Bathroom was disgusting and unusable. I have been going to longhorns for many years, not this location, and never seen such a badly kept store/ service. Me and my wife had dinner here. We added ourselves to the waitlist ahead of time. But still had to wait over an hour to be seated. We were finally sat. Took over 10 minutes to get bread and butter out on the table. The server finally brought the bread. And we placed our orders. We ordered two drinks but the server didn't even ask us if we wanted long pours.(my wife mentioned it because she prefers long pours). I ordered the outlaw ribeye and she got the lamb chops. Neither dish was questioned about the temps. It's been over 30 minutes and we still haven't received our drinks. The service was not up to par tonight. I am 100% fan of longhorn. Reasonably priced food is consistent at all of them They do have one of the best french onion soups that I've had. Although wildfire has a great onion soup if you're onion soup fan.. when you find something good, why change? I seem to be a creature of habit when it comes to ordering food I like. I'm really a fan of their encrusted parmesan chicken because it's cooked on a charcoal grill. nothing better than charcoal grill taste. I think that's why I'm not a fan of Texas. Roadhouse.... The thing that really keeps me going back besides a consistency of the food is those Sweet Thai chili chicken bites. They're only $6.99 You go to McDonald's and you order a 10-piece and you're paying $5.99 here. You're getting fresh chicken.. You can't beat that.. But wait usually I'm so full by the time I leave. But I can't leave without that stampede cake it's like a chocolate lovers heaven.... The pieces usually are $10.99 but you get two triangle pieces and ice cream so if you're carrying it out, remind them to put the ice cream on the side... I frequently visit all of the surrounding longhorns Orland Park Bolingbrook and Irving Park... And personally it doesn't seem a difference where you go. The seats we were seated at had a huge tear in it and the booth was coming off the wall. 2.The knife was dirty which is fine given how busy they are but after asking for a new one I never got it so I washed it in the bathroom. 3. 2 sides did not come out which is a big negative. 4. Steak was completely raw inside, I got med rare porterhouse, I don't mind it rare and am not picky but this was so squishy and raw, waited 30 min to get attention of staff by that time I just took it home and cooked it myself in an oven. It was definitely a good cut, the restaurant did not do it service... Positive: 1. The one good thing is they seared the outside of the raw steak... so good job on that. Serving a raw steak at a steakhouse and it being the longhorn steak (porterhouse) is massively disappointing. 2. The waiter Andre was upbeat and pleasant to talk to and offered to heat it up, unfortunately the restaurant was busy and I can understand that it took quite sometime to get anyone's attention so I do not fault him for that. My husband & I arrived arnd 2PM fr lunch today and it was NOT tht busy. Our waitress left us at the table for GOOD long time before she ever approached us. I started off by handing her one of the rolled napkins (w.silverware inside). There was a very long hair on it. Stuff all over the floor everywhere and the hostess was cleaning and was a very NICE lady. Appetizer was very good but when our food arrived my mashed potatoes were room temperature and first bite of my steak was so salty I spit it out! Our waitress came over after awhile and swooped it up - told me they can make another. I sat there for a LONG time again and watched my husband finish his food....no drinks...the well went dry a long time ago...waitress didn't even ask if we needed steak sauce or condiments. At this point another couple walked in and the REEKED like Marijuana. At that point itcwas pointless to even GO OUT to eat because it was a train wreck when you food isn't even made right to begin with. I asked fir the manager to come to the table and I'm not lying it her 20 mins or so fr her to come to the table and I was shaking! I let her know what transpired and Our waitress came to the table I let her KNOW she was a TERRIBLE waitress and told her when you have customer's you DON'T LEAVE them high n dry with NOTHING. This was a Puerto Rican looking heavy set girl and I'm sorry we will NEVER EVER set foot in this chain again. After I let the manager know she turned to my husband and asked him what happened! It was the first time my husband and I tried longhorn steakhouse. We can say we were not disappointed. From the service and the food it was a great experience. We started with the Texas Onions as appetizers and they were crispy and delicious. They came with a spicy dipping sauce that complimented the onions very nicely. My husband order the Longhorn Potterhouse and I order the Ribeye. Each of the plates came with a side and a salad of your choice. We both decided on the caesar salad. I got the mash potatoes and my husband the baked potato. Both equally delicious. The ambience is very family oriented and loud, but very welcoming. Our waitress was nothing but exceptional with taking care of us. Definitely will be back to try the rest of their menu and alcoholic drinks. read more

I was here in July for lunch. Not very many customers. Only about 5 or 6 tables. I was seated, waited 20 min for waitress then another 20 for her to return and take my order. I ordered and waited 45 minutes and asked the waitress for my order --she said that I was next . I asked to speak to manager and she said that manager was the cook today. I told waitress to bring my check and containers, because I did not want to wait for her to return . Took her 15 minutes to bring . But, she did return within 2 minutes for payment. I was still eating. I told her that I would pay after I was finished. After that , could not get a hold of her , so I went to bar to pay. No one tending bar. I waited and waited. When I saw manager, I told him I wanted to pay , he told me to wait for waitress.. When I finally saw waitress , She told me,--Oh, I thought you left without paying. Disgusting. I personally do not eat steak but my family loves it. They were too excited to eat there for Easter. Luckily we were able to beat the rush. The inside was definitely decorated with the longhorn cow horns on the wall. The room was dark. Their steaks were medium well to medium. I guess the cook assumed two medium well, over cooked one of the steaks. We did have a long wait for them but not me. I orders Salmon and broccoli and I have no complaints. I went there looking for a delicious meal instead just was forced to wait an hour even with a pre reservation. When I was finally seated the waiter asked for my drinks and never came back. I had asked for another waiter since me and my children were starving. Thankfully they gave me a new waiter. This waiter asked for my drinks, took my orders to go get them, at least that's what I thought. Me and my children waited another hour until we decided we should leave and go to millers. Came here with my church group on Sunday afternoon, 9/10/17 to celebrate Senior's Day. It was about 23 of us to be seated. The restaurant accommodated us so we were all able to sit together which was appreciated. We had a young lady waitress and a young African American male waiter taking our orders. Both of them were friendly and accommodating despite us being a large group. Our appetizers, meals came out in a decent amount of time so no complaints there. The problem came after we received our meals. The food was tasty and everyone seemed to enjoy their food. However, many of us were very upset on how our waiter was being treated by the restaurant. This waiter was left by the other young lady to not only finish taking care of our large party but to try to figure out ALL of our individual bill totals by himself while ALSO taking care of other tables around us. It was taking awhile to get our bills and understandably so because our waiter was clearly OVERWHELMED and given all this responsibility with no help. Managers were standing around the registers with microphones but didn't at any time try to help this young man total out our bills. It wasn't fair and we all felt bad for our caring waiter. Usually when there is a large party, the waiter/waitress is asked to focus just on that party but that wasn't the case here. It was too much for the young man. He tried hard to do everything but was having a hard time and I personally hated to see him struggling when there was plenty of instances where assistance could of been given to help him. Many of us tipped him well but this isn't enough. Treat your waitstaff with better work practices or your good help won't last long. Good food is nice but fair work practices is important as well. My steak was fatty and overly seasoned. Broccoli was over cooked and rice was cold. Service was mediocre.

As the hostess walked us to our table there were steak bones and napkins all over the floor(red flag #1). As the host brought us to our table she was having a disagreement with a server about the table she was serving and which tables she should be serving(red flag #2). As we sat there no one ever came over to acknowledge us not a "someone will be with you" "have you been helped" no water to the table NOTHING. The server walked past our table multiple times and just ignoring us(red flag #3), but went to go wait a table that came in AFTER US. After my boyfriend and I sat there for 20mins with no acknowledgement we got up to leave and the host states "have a great night" without realizing this was the party you just sat down to have dinner!! And also they have a horrible smell in the dining area!!! read more
