I brought back a defective product to the store -- a pair of $200 salt and pepper mills I had purchased there about two weeks ago. I had just unwrapped them and filled them the day before, only to discover that the surfaces on the bottoms were literally disintegrating. The young woman behind the counter was actually very nice. She even remembered me from when I bought them. She asked me to step to the side while she spoke to the manager because, apparently, "these didn't leave the store in this condition." I said, "Okay," and stepped aside to look at some other things while I waited. I genuinely thought I had just had a perfectly normal, friendly interaction with her. I had absolutely no idea I was apparently the opening act for The Salt & Pepper Mill Hostage Crisis. The manager comes out and asks if he can help me. I say, "Yes! I bought these awesome salt and pepper mills here a couple of weeks ago, and I just opened them and discovered they're disintegrating. Look." This man immediately launches into me that these products did not leave the store in the condition I was returning them in and accuses me of letting them sit in water or otherwise intentionally damaging them. I'm thinking, What the actual $&@? I asked him, "Do you really think I'm lying?" He said, "Yes. You must be." At this point I'm like... WHY ARE WE DOING THIS? He tells me I was aggressive with the cashier. I said, "I was??? OMG. I had literally said hello, showed her the mills and explained that I was SAD because I had just unpacked them and they were falling apart." She then told the manager that this was not how they left the store. I'm sorry, but... WHY WOULD I DRIVE AN HOUR TO BRING BACK SOMETHING I HAD INTENTIONALLY DESTROYED? Especially when, at the time I bought them, this SAME PERSON proudly told me they had a LIFETIME GUARANTEE. A lifetime guarantee. It had been TWO WEEKS. Then this guy looks me up and triumphantly announces: "IT'S BEEN ALMOST 30 DAYS." I'm like... okay? I wasn't even asking for a refund at that point. I was bringing them back because they were defective and trying to figure out what the hell to do about it. Also... 30 days is not a lifetime. And then things somehow got even crazier. The young woman IS BEYOND UPSET, reaches for the phone and tells me to leave the store and gets right in my face like I'm a threat to her. I'm standing there thinking, WHAT IS HAPPENING? I may have said something unkind at that point -- BUT I WAS PROVOKED and for that, I will concede that I probably could have chosen better words. But I still didn't raise my voice or lose my cool. I was simply completely bewildered by what was happening. Then an older woman comes out from behind the counter and suddenly ALL THREE OF THEM ARE YELLING AT ME TO LEAVE. They literally ganged up on me like the mean girls in a middle-school cafeteria. I felt like a trapped rat. And all of this... OVER A SALT AND PEPPER MILL. They told me to leave or they were calling the police. I'm thinking, THE POLICE?! For what? Aggravated pepper grinding?! Eventually the older woman, who was shaking and yelling, managed to tell me that they would tell any customer that defective products had to be handled through the manufacturer. I said, "Okay. I hear you. But why are you all so horrible?" She said: "Because you're upsetting everyone." I said: "I'M upsetting everyone?! Good lord. Imagine this family's Thanksgiving dinner." At that point, the guy who runs the pottery shop next door apparently got called in as backup and walked me out. Now the whole store was involved. And here's the thing: he remembered me. I had bought a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff from him the same day I bought the mills. And unlike everyone else, he was just... normal. He was calm, understanding and completely reasonable. Which honestly made the whole thing even more surreal. I walked out thinking, I am a normal person. What the hell just happened? I have never experienced anything quite like it. I loved those $200 salt and pepper mills. Apparently, they come with a lifetime guarantee and a complimentary nervous breakdown. Absolute worst customer service experience I've ever had. I'm not saying you shouldn't shop there. I am sharing my story because I was mistreated and neither heard nor cared for by the owners of a business that earn their living from good people who deserve better. Plus these people should read about themselves, look in the mirror and be embarrassed with themselves. What a mess!!!!! Horrifying!!!!!

I did a partial kitchen reno and needed to match the existing quartz counters that Mona's team installed last time. Ran into a problem: they didn't have any remnants in that color, and I'd have to purchase a whole slab just to match a little section. Mona came to the rescue! She offered me a remnant of a different color that she promised matches really really closely the original color. And since the new section was to be installed across from the old one (not contiguous), it would be very hard to tell. Sure enough, it worked out perfectly and Mona saved me a lot of money by finding a creative solution. Just like last time, I was doing this long distance without seeing anything in person. With contractors there is always drama or miscommunications, especially if you are not there to supervise. Not with Mona. Her reliability, attention to detail, and smart problem-solving in every project, no matter how small, give me total peace of mind. And the prices are still very reasonable, even years later! Thank you so much!

It involved taking out a non load bearing wall to provide much more kitchen space, as well as all new cabinets, appliances and refinishing the original wood floors. Everything from A to Z was carried out as planned and on schedule. John and his team take great care and concern about every step of the process. He provided insights and perspectives on all the parts of the project from initial planning to final completion. Communications were top notch using his internet portal set up for us. If we had a question, he was always available to go over it. His team shows up early and works hard until done. Highly recommend his work. The final result was incredible.

After meeting with a couple of designers and contractors, I knew John was the one I was going with. From the earliest stages of the project he was prompt, extremely organized and best of all, attentive to what I actually wanted. John and I worked to design my dream kitchen within our budget and he returned with a binder with renderings and detailing every step of the process (all before I actually signed my contract with him). This was important as the project was to be started and completed during our absence from the Cape during the winter months. I made several additions and changes along the way and even decided to have him renovate our 1/2 bath while he was working here, as well as build a hall entry area. John was in touch throughout the entire project, sending pictures frequently and communicating whenever there were choices or issues to discuss. My husband and I returned to the Cape in late May to the completed kitchen, 1/2 bath, and entryway and they were everything I'd planned and envisioned. John's work is beautiful and he pays attention to every detail. I'd very highly recommend John Clark for your renovation needs on the Cape! He was by far, the most capable and easiest contractor I've ever worked with on any project.
