Impressive! We were on the island in Sept. My friends stayed here and loved it. I come often and have had brunch here, but this is the first time we've stayed. The room was spacious. My 10yr old loved her pull out bed. She asked us to stay longer she had so much fun. Our room was the Tosh. The view is great, they have cheese and wine in the evenings and like I said I've had their brunch, it's great. Emily checked us out and I asked if she would be there in Aug/Sept. Told her wood call her to book and I look forward to seeing her. She was amazing!! I also have to give Rita a shout out. I met her in Sept and she was such a gem to my friends who were staying there. From the porch, you also get a peek at the Mystic River and the Mystic Seaport. (I could see the Mayflower which was on a lift at the seaport for repairs-absolutely charming.) When you walk through the front door, you are greeted by artwork, books, and a parlor off to the right. There is a baby grand piano, tuned and ready to be played in the parlor. I just loved all the hand painted details by a local artist. It is a cozy, happy room. Walk straight through the front foyer and you enter the dining room which has coffee, teas, and water available 24/7. There was a plate of cookies on the table that were home made and out of this worldA scrabble game was set and ready to go. A well rounded breakfast menu was posted and you can order whatever you like, all home made including the granola. I am gluten free and Josephine was so accommodating. I even discovered a new GF bread that I thought was better than most I have tried. Josephine has a talent in the kitchen to say the least. Everything was delicious. There is a lot of local information on where to go and what to do. OK- now, the Mermaid Room This is not a large room but it has everything you need (including a little fridge) and the hand painted walls are an absolute study. To think one young lady produced all that art, a talent to be admired. There are 3 more rooms upstairs but I wanted to be on the main floor. I found the location perfect. It is not on the main drag so it isn't noisy but just walk a couple of blocks and you are right in the middle of downtown Mystic with all the glorious restaurants, cute shops, and a drawbridge over the Mystic River. 100% charm. See how many mermaids you can count‍. I will definitely go back. I would like to go on a river cruise next time. I am recommending the Mermaid Inn to all my friends and family.

The hosts Jodi and Scott are lovely, welcoming people who make sure their guests truly enjoy their stay. Breakfast was served in their elegant dining room or on their beautiful outside patio. A full country breakfast waited for us every morning. Fresh fruit, homemade muffins, and delicious meals like sausage, potato strata and raspberry drizzled French toast were on the menu the days that we stayed. Once again the attention to detail was incredible. Meals were beautifully presented , and the tables were set with fresh summer flowers. The grounds were also well kept, and the gardens and pond area were so relaxing to stroll through or stop and relax for awhile in an outdoor chair. The manager talked to me as if I was a criminal. Water leaked out of the ceiling.They never checked up on it. The paint was peeling off the wall. There was black mold growing on the wall because they didn't paint the walls with the proper paint when you live by the beach. And they neglected to give us back our deposit on top of it with no damage done by us. Any damage came from their poor maintenance. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone who is NOT desperate. We certainly would not have stayed there if we weren't desperate at the time.
