Absolutely perfect. The Darius is our home away from home while on BI. There is not a single thing we'd change about our experiences here. Here's why... - The owners - two sisters - are some of the most lovely people you can encounter. They work incredibly hard to run an amazing inn and it shows. - First floor suites are charmingly decorated, spacious, and dog friendly. The front patios are great for people watching (especially for our pups!) - Breakfast is all homemade and stellar. There's always a frittata and a breakfast salad, plus great coffee, which is a perfect way to start the day. - The grounds are beautiful, filled with wildflowers and plenty of places to hang out. - The location could not be more convenient. You're right in the middle of town and can walk to everything...the ferry, the beach, restaurants, etc. But if you chose to bring a car, there's parking. Highly recommended.

    Suite 1 private porch lookout!

Pictures may speak a thousand words, but that is still not enough to explain the idyllic Darius Inn. It is comfy, yet refined...the owners are friendly, yet not intrusive, you are close enough to town, yet you don't feel like you are in the middle of a frenzy! This was our first time on Block Island and the ideas and suggestions given by Christy and Becca were spot on. People and puppy watching on the front porch kept us occupied from AM until midnight! When we wanted to walk to the beach, the entrance was literally across the street. It is close enough to walk to any shop that you wanted, as well as almost all of the restaurants. There is a kitchen with stove, microwave, glasses, refrigerator.....and a little nook to enjoy your breakfast. Two super cute bedrooms, a bathroom with a great shower, and a backyard complete with Adirondack chairs and loungers really added to our stay. The inn has a few dog friendly rooms, which allowed us to bring our rescue fur baby. The fact that the rooms have individual entrances and private porches was definitely a plus. Thank you so much to everyone at the Darius!!!!!!

We've been coming to B.I. For 30 years, and have stayed at most of the hotels; several B&Bs, and even rented houses for two weeks at a time. The last two years we rented a large, new house which slept 10, so we have sampled just about every form of hospitality the island offers. The Darius Inn is our new favorite, and we will definitely stay here again. Christa and Becca are wonderful hosts. They have put a lot of love and care into creating this new incarnation of the Darius, and they have succeeded in creating a friendly, clean, charming and welcoming environment. We absolutely love this place - from the central location to the second story porch; from the tasty breakfasts to the lovely happy hour - and all of it comes together with a stylish, young vibe. Kudos to you, Becca and Christa!

I took this picture the day before we left! This is the backyard of the hotel! How cute!!!!!

I just got back home from an amazing weekend at the Darius! I had my sisters 29th birthday and bachelorette party and we stayed at this hotel. What amazing people! The two sisters that own the place are wonderful. Helpful, nice, sweet and accommodating. The weather was absolutely perfect and we had the best time. We stayed in Suite One which was prime location! Perfect for walking to the beach, dinner, liquor store and ferry. I can not think of one complaint!!! Every day there was an hour of happy hour in the backyard of the hotel, along with a breakfast every morning. This is the cutest place in Block Island. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone!!! We will definitely be back!!!!

Our front porch (Suite 1, Suite 2 porch to the right of picture) and a surprise bachelorette banner for our bride!

It would be a missed opportunity if you don't stay here! It is an amazing place - with amazing hosts! We rented out Suite 1 and 2 for a bachelorette weekend away with eight girls. Besides being quite possibly the cutest place on Block Island, the owners took such great care of us. Our rooms were perfect - we had plenty of space for everyone to sleeps, kitchenettes to store our snacks and drinks, and the best front porches on the island. Not to mention that the beach was literally 200 yards away. From delicious breakfast every morning, and a happy hour every evening, we were constantly impressed with the service and quality of The Darius Inn. They even, to our surprise, put up bachelorette party decorations and made bachelorette tote bags for everyone in our party! Thank you to the Darius Inn for putting up with our shenanigans and hosting us all weekend. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to stay.

The owners found out we got engaged while staying they left us a bottle of champagne!

First off, there was "Robyn"- I'd heard previous reviews , but honestly; until you meet her, you just have no idea how special this woman is!! When I say, she's a ray of sun shine-I mean it. She exudes positivity, kindness, graciousness!! She greeted us immediately, and gave us a brief orientation. Offered us lemon infused water, showed us where we can grab fluffy beach towels,, etc. gave us a tour of the grounds and incredible views. Then she showed us our room. She was extremely knowledgeable about the area-and made some wonderful dining recommendations. Our room was very cute. It has a country cottage appeal-bedding was high quality, as were the bath towels and toiletries. Our bed was so comfortable with the best pillows I've ever slept on. Bath robes were also provided, which was also such a nice touch. Our daily breakfast delivery was very special. I loved all of it-there was such an attention to detail-like a ramekin of Maldon salt flakes to add to the tomatoes on my lox and cream cheese bagel. Orange juice and coffee press every morning, and always a well balanced breakfasts. Eating off of hand crafted pottery made the meals even more appealing. I loved all those special touches. Any time we'd see Robyn in passing, she would always greet us with her beautiful smile and wonderful energy. She is such an asset to sea breeze. I'm sure the proprietors must know what an absolute gem they have in Robyn. Our room was close to the main road-so we did have to deal with a bit of street noise, however, it was also ticked all the way in back, which felt more private than some of the other cottages.

Although surprisingly shabby, the ambiance was nice enough. Sabrina was wonderful. She brought us to our room (The Emerald) with its king size bed, sitting area and large bath. We booked that room as my husband is extremely tall and needs a little more wiggle room in the bed for his legs. Had a king not been available, we would have looked elsewhere. We booked for 3 nights. The room was lovely....except for the dreadful stench of a dead rodent in the wall. No ones fault, but the penetrating odor made it impossible to stay in that room and not feel filthy and/or ill. Sabrina apologized that she had not been in the room for a few days and had no idea of the horrific smell. She did try to have the problem remediated -but to no avail. We were offered a different- very tiny -room (Ruby). It consisted of a smaller bed, no seating, tattered and torn curtains and it was difficult to negotiate getting around the one side of the bed that was passable. Although no ones fault- except for the rat -, we were extremely disappointed as there was nothing luxurious or special about this 2nd room. View was nice though. Sabrina assured us that they would handle the price adjustment over the weekend. In the end, we left a day early. It was our choice and we did not expect any reimbursement for that one night. We merely wanted the difference in price between the the two rooms at the time we booked. It seemed like a very fair request.. The difference in price was $250.00, of course we asked for nothing more, despite out inconvenience. The price was not adjusted by time we left so we called when we returned home. Here is the rub!!!! It was a struggle to have an intelligent conversation - never mind get our rate adjusted to match the quoted rate for that second room. The manager was extremely difficult, snarky and incredibly rude. He was arguing about returning any money to us. I explained that Sabrina said they would reimburse us the difference. After several days, G., the manager came up with an arbitrary $200 reimbursement instead of the full amount. After a further struggle, he said he would see if he could do better. We called several times and he never did do better. In fact after his $200 declaration, he never accepted any of our calls. Twice, I also tried to reach the owner, Ann Law, to see if she could understand the unfairness of the situation. No response from her either. They simply ignored our correspondence. While we were at the Avonlea, Ann was readily available to chat about her newly written book she was promoting during Thanksgiving dinner. $50 won't break our bank, but wow what an unprofessional and unnecessary experience. It would have thought it would not have broken their bank either. From the overall shape of the place maybe it would! Perhaps Ann will use the extra money for some new curtains or some rat traps. If you don't mind a shabby place and you don't run into any problems that need to be fairly addressed, you may like it there. Great views and great location. BTW. - I waited to see if they were ever going to respond or refund before I wrote this review. They chose not to. Hey everyone is nice when things go smoothly. True colors come with adversity. This review couldn't be any closer to the truth . Good luck. Maybe try something different.
