My husband and I attended a wedding on Block Island this weekend. We had planned a 2 night stay at the Sheffield House. Due to the weather, the Ferry service was canceled for 4 days. Diane, the owner, was amazing. She did everything possible to make all the guests feel comfortable. It was a quaint, cozy, welcoming environment. For some guests it was stressful being stranded on the island. Diane helped to make it a very positive experience. I am thankful our extended stay was at the Sheffield house. I highly recommend staying here. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was nice. Diane served breakfast every morning ( coffee, juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, yogurt, homemade breads...) I LOVE the Sheffield House. I highly recommend staying here!! read more

Lovely B/B on a quiet street, minutes from the ferry. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Loved sitting on the porch. Innkeepers were friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Beautiful yard, both front and back. Downtown is minutes away, walking distance. read more

This past summer, we had an excellent experience here. We stayed at this Bed and Breakfast for four days and three nights in July, the "high season" on Block Island. It is conveniently located--it is just down the street from the Old Harbor ferry terminal, but it is off the main stretch (Water Street) on a much quieter side street. Everything is accessible, but you're not right on top of or next to the "party" bars nearby. It also has parking on the premises and a bike rack. We booked our room back in April, and, at that time, we had our choice of the rooms available in the house. I believe there are six rooms there for guests, and each of the rooms are described on the business's website. We chose Room 5, a room on the second floor with its own private bathroom (many hotels and guest houses on Block Island were built in the 19th century, so this amenity is not a guarantee). It was excellent--it was clean when we arrived, and cleaned every day we stayed there. The bathroom in this room is particularly spacious, too. It faces out the back of the house, reducing any noise coming from the street (which wasn't much in the first place). Breakfast is on offer every morning on the first floor in a small kitchen to the right of the front door. The owners set out an assortment of foods, coffee, tea, and orange juice. In fact, they even left out breakfast items, plates, and cups specifically for us on the last night of our stay, which was a very nice touch. The owners are very friendly and manage the property very efficiently. They were happy to answer our questions, give directions, and attend to guests' needs. We enjoyed our stay here very much and we would be very happy to stay here again. Highly recomended! read more

We stayed for two nights in the Dandelion room on the first floor. It was on the small side with a small private bath but very clean, pleasantly decorated and had very nice bedding.And the price could not be beat, at about $100 less than competitors! The location was very good too, being close to the Atlantic Inn (you must have drinks there) and up the street from the Manisses restaurant and the main street on the waterfront. Our hosts were Diane and Ed and they couldn't have been sweeter, more efficient, more accommodating and helpful. Ed even lent me his baseball cap for our bike ride! Their recommendations for dinner and drinks were spot on, and we were so glad they encouraged us to bike rather than moped. We are not in the best shape but we had no problem at all and it was quieter and we could get to more places that way. As we were there over the weekend, Diane impressed us with her more special awesome breakfasts. The first day's included her delish homemade scones, homemade jam, English muffins and smoked salmon with a great sauce on the side. All presented beautifully as well. We felt very much at home there. The porch is a lovely place to hang out. There's also a hammock out front and a small private area in the back. But best of all is their super outside shower and it was much easier shaving my legs there with the seats! We will look forward to returning! read more

My favorite B&B on Block Island, Rhode Island. My wife and I have been coming here for at least one 4 day weekend, sometimes three (4 day weekends) every summer for the past 10 years! Diane and Ed run an AMAZING B&B. All of the rooms are spotless! The bathrooms are very clean. Diane makes an EXCELLENT, healthy breakfast every morning. Far enough from town for peace and quiet, yet less than a 5 minute walk to town. Diane and Ed are always available to recommend everything from the best restaurants, to the best place to rent bikes, to the best beach, to what taxi company to use! In addition to Diane and Ed's B&B, the town of Block Island is adorable- Great shopping and excellent restaurants! We will continue to go to the Sheffield House, every summer, for anywhere between 1-3 very long weekends! It's by far, the best place to sleep in all of Block Island!!! read more

A great place to stay when visiting Block Island! Convenient location, clean and comfortable rooms, and the owner (Diane) is just about one of the nicest, most accommodating people I have ever met! We made a mistake when scheduling our room and arrived a night early...and Diane pulled out all of the stops to save the day and our vacation!
