We have stayed several times over the past year and every experience is fabulous. The staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful. The accommodations are spacious clean and unique and the breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese are always quite good. I highly recommend a stay at any of the 1661 property's. We have enjoyed accommodations at the Main House, the Dodge Cottage, the Hendrickson House and the Mitchell Cottage, all were an excellent experience. The farm and garden across from the Main House are one of many gems the 1661 had to offer.

Stopped by this inn to see if is someplace I want to stay when I return with my boyfriend in September, so my review is strictly the grounds, desk clerk, and bar setup as we got wine and sat out on the deck. Awesome curb appeal and grounds, friendly desk clerk, and beautiful views out back. The wine by the glass selection was horrid, though, which doesn't align with the ambiance. Glen Ellen and Frontera, really? It's like you gave up right at the end and cut a major corner. Still, really looking forward to returning for an overnight stay and will provide a room review then.

    Amazing breakfast included with room.

What a wonderful place. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights in the Adrian room of the Mitchell cottage. We were blown away. Amazing features: *king size bed that faces the ocean *massive bathroom with jet tub *fire place *pull out sofa for extra guests *large deck with wall of doors that slide open *amazing view of the ocean *air conditioning!! The breakfast each morning is included with your room and was so great! The staff was wonderful and the hotel was walking distance to just about everything on that side of the island(depending on how far you're willing to walk). We will for sure be back!

I have stayed in the 1661 Inn Guest House for the past two summers. It is a beautiful old inn with very friendly staff. The guest house is directly next to the main inn and has a few small rooms with a shared bathroom. It's perfect for what we were looking for. Reasonable prices, excellent location and stunning views. The guest house has a patio overlooking the water. It is just lovely. Breakfast at the 1661 Inn is included and served every morning 8:00-10:30. It is one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. Did I mention they serve champagne!? Also the corned beef hash is something I thought about all year and couldn't wait to taste again. It really is that good. You will not be hungry for lunch until at least 2 pm! The hotel is also a very quick, easy walk to Old Harbor which is great and convenient. We love staying at the 1661 Inn!

We went the last weekend of October and have only good things to say about the 1661 inn. We stayed in the guest house Sprague room. It has everything that you need clean room good bed, nice bathroom. Great view from our padio.. They do "nibbles" from 4 to 5 which is a inclusive wine and cheese happy hour/meet and greet, great idea! The 1661 Inn is in walking distance to several restaurants, as well as a great beach.. The staff was awesome at the inn, very helpful and attentive. In the morning they do a full out breakfast buffet with mimosas.. We will be coming back again in the off season again it was very peaceful.. You can also fly out of Westerly to Block Island, I highly recommend doing that as well.

I have nothing but praise for this Inn! We went with another couple for a weekend. From the moment you walk in your made to feel like your special! Your asked if you want coffee or tea and cookies!they show you your room. We stayed in the guest house which was small but cozy and well decorated! With a nice newly updated bath! Happy hour of wine with cheese and crackers and salsa with corn chips was fabulous! They have an open kitchen that you can go in and help your self to coffee and tea! The breakfast buffet was large and the eggs are cooked to order! The view from our room was just fantastic! We got up and watched the sunrise! I highly recommend this Inn. By far the best that I have stayed at on Block Island and I will be back next year!

Don't waste your time with this company. They do not understand the concept of true hospitality.

First off, there was "Robyn"- I'd heard previous reviews , but honestly; until you meet her, you just have no idea how special this woman is!! When I say, she's a ray of sun shine-I mean it. She exudes positivity, kindness, graciousness!! She greeted us immediately, and gave us a brief orientation. Offered us lemon infused water, showed us where we can grab fluffy beach towels,, etc. gave us a tour of the grounds and incredible views. Then she showed us our room. She was extremely knowledgeable about the area-and made some wonderful dining recommendations. Our room was very cute. It has a country cottage appeal-bedding was high quality, as were the bath towels and toiletries. Our bed was so comfortable with the best pillows I've ever slept on. Bath robes were also provided, which was also such a nice touch. Our daily breakfast delivery was very special. I loved all of it-there was such an attention to detail-like a ramekin of Maldon salt flakes to add to the tomatoes on my lox and cream cheese bagel. Orange juice and coffee press every morning, and always a well balanced breakfasts. Eating off of hand crafted pottery made the meals even more appealing. I loved all those special touches. Any time we'd see Robyn in passing, she would always greet us with her beautiful smile and wonderful energy. She is such an asset to sea breeze. I'm sure the proprietors must know what an absolute gem they have in Robyn. Our room was close to the main road-so we did have to deal with a bit of street noise, however, it was also ticked all the way in back, which felt more private than some of the other cottages.

A beautiful porch that surrounds the hotel. Seated immediately was a gift from the big man upstairs. They were definitely busy. But, we managed to get a seat for our 5 people. We were seated outside in the back of the porch. There was a lot of room to move around. Once seated we viewed the menu. We all opted for a few things. The street corn Quesadilla, lobster bisque, ancient grains bowl, Chicken Caesar Wrap. We opted for no desert and went elsewhere to spread the wealth. The food was good. No complaints if you keep that in mind. The wait staff was ok. I think they maybe have been overwhelmed, which in turn our waiter went "missing" to the point where we had to ask someone for something and it turned out to be the manager. Otherwise everything was ok.

I especially love sitting outside, where you can watch the ferries come in, people strolling by, and catch a gorgeous sunset over the water. This time I brought friends along, a group of 11 including three kids. Since it was the end of the season, the place wasn't crowded and we were one of the few tables outside. Our waiter, a kind young man with the cutest British accent, took excellent care of us. He managed our large group with ease and made sure the kids' meals came out quickly. Every dish at the table was a hit, but the standout was one of the daily specials--the fresh-caught tuna. My husband ordered it, and OMG... it was phenomenal. This place is officially locked into my Block Island rotation.
