6:15am from the Spring House patio. Perfection.

The Spring House is one of the most elegant, historic hotels on the island. It is not cheap, but the rooms are beautifully renovated and air conditioned!!! And the staff, location and views are perfection. We sit on the porch and listen to music, walk thru the backyard to rent bikes, and stroll to the animal farm and into town several times a day. I woke up very early one morning, bought a latte downstairs, and read a magazine from the internal porch w this view. Heaven.

We were in town for a weekend wedding and had an excellent experience at the Spring House. The property is comprised of several individual rustic inns located on top of a hill with great views of the ocean and surrounding areas. Our room was very small, but very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I will not hesitate staying at the Spring House again.

My friend and I walked up to Spring House Hotel for drinks. The outside area includes many white lawn chairs. On the back of the chairs are flags you can raise. Ballard's uses the same system that you raise a flag and you receive service. My friend and I sat at empty chairs and tables and waited with the flag up. We waited twenty minutes and after no one came, we went to the bar. I ordered a mudslide and my friend ordered a pina colada. They were both thin and okay. We sat at a different chair that overlooked the water. When we finished our drinks, a server came over and asked if we wanted more. We said no, we didn't want another one. Not sure I will try the food but I might try a regular cocktail next visit, most likely at the bar.

One of the better food places on the island. We made a reservation about a week in advanced for 4 with outdoor seating.. views are great! I had the margarita pizza with a side of zucchini, and the table had mussels, salmon, filet, scallops and everyone was happy. Prices are high as is the norm on block, that would be my only complaint.. $35 for a cauliflower steak is wild.. should not be as much as a chicken dish.

People eating in lounge area where we were told it was not allowed.

We sat in the lounge area in an attempt to be considerate since we were not looking for full meals, only drinks and a snack. The bartender sold us 2 dozen oysters and drinks. There were no open seats at the bar. When we walked toward our seats in the lounge area, we were told we could not bring the oysters to the lounge area, only drinks. I asked the hostess if we could sit at an empty restaurant table for ten minutes to enjoy the oysters. They said no. The table sat empty while we stood, gulped down 2 dozen oysters, dodging wait staff, and squeezing one by one at the bar. When we returned to the lounge area, the patrons adjacent us were served food at their lounge chairs! We complained to the manager and nothing was done. Extremely rude and disappointing.

Visiting Block Island for the day, this hotel was on our itinerary to simply stop and sip cocktails and admire the view sitting on their white Adirondack chairs. Excellent service. We did not stay here, so there's no room reviews.

Amazing location! Victorian elegance with the best view, high up on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic. Its location is unrivaled by any other hotel or B&B on Block Island-- an easy walk up from the ferry and accessible to the beaches, downtown and the bike paths. Lots of dining options here too: formal dining room, outside patio, porch, indoor bar and porch side bar meets any mood you're in. Enjoy some Rosé or Chablis on the Adirondack chairs, then dinner on the porch followed by drinks at the bar. Everyone is there for the same reason; to relax, unwind and take in the moment. It's all amazing.

Our first time on Block Island. The first comment is the views. Simply beautiful! Second, the lawn seating for cocktails & music. Hotel is lovely. Walking distance to most everything. We will be back.

Oysters on the half shell were excellent! Tuna Poke was very good as was the lobster roll. Service was excellent and as anyone will note, the views are the most amazing on the Island! Great spot for lunch on the patio. We were also here for cocktails on the lawn. Arrive early for that as it fills up very quickly. I don't easily give out 5 stars but Spring House is one of our favorite places on the planet! If on BIRI, don't miss it!

The BI dumpem out crew needed a good sit down restaurant. After days of gai and dumpeming out, we arrived at the olde springy just in time for dinner. We were promptly sat down in a cozy spot near the front entrance. After ordering our many appetizers and drinks, we decided on our main courses. I got the swordfish and let me tell you...Best swordfish I've ever had!! There were no leftovers to be had (because I forgot them in the taxi). Can't wait to come back here again next time we visit the island. Cheers! -BB

She was absolutely running circles around everyone--making drinks, helping guests, answering questions from multiple staff members, and somehow keeping everything moving despite being pulled in every direction. She handled a busy bar with professionalism and a great attitude. What really stood out, though, was watching the chef come out and speak to her in an incredibly rude and disrespectful way in front of a full bar. No employee deserves to be treated like that, especially not someone who was clearly carrying so much of the workload. Kudos to her for staying calm, keeping her composure, and continuing to provide excellent service despite being spoken to in such a rude manner. She was the reason our experience remained positive. I hope management recognizes how valuable she is--and also addresses how inappropriate that interaction was. 0 stars for an uncomfortable experience with the chef. 5 stars for professional bartender

That's about where the good review stops. We never received housekeeping service despite asking for it twice. Their staff is gone by 6 PM so they can't help you unless it's an emergency. The hotel is NOT like the pictures! I mean, the decor is, but the hotel is very, very old and definitely "lipstick on a pig." We got a two bedroom suite and the bathroom was the size of a shoebox. You couldn't sit down on the toilet without bumping your head on the sink. Fair warning - no elevators - when you arrive, they tell you to walk two blocks down the street with your luggage and then up a two flights of stairs. No offer of help. We asked for an extra room key and they said "oh, we don't do that." We told them we were disappointed and they ignored the message. Worst customer service we've experienced at any hotel in a very long time. It's a shame because it has potential.

The food (as many restaurants on the Block) is pricey but it is top knotch! We've never had a marginal meal here. It is perfectly balanced, and delicious every time. Our only recommendation is to bring the salads out first, wait 15 minutes then bring out the meal not all of it together, although we understand if folks aren't staying overnight this method of serving ensures they make their ferry to the mainland. So many times while climbing the stairs we heard other guests saying "xyz stairs" always made us laugh and yes we agree. However, it's great to walk off the calories from that delicious food and beverages! Entertainment in the back, the Adirondack chairs and fire pits are so very comfortable, cozy and fun! We loved the guitarist, he was sensational! We also really love that if we arrive early or check out and stay on the island longer, we can put our luggage in the storage room instead of having to lug it around until we check in or after we check out. We truly love the National and can't wait for next year's anniversary celebration!

She exudes positivity, kindness, graciousness!! She greeted us immediately, and gave us a brief orientation. She was extremely knowledgeable about the area-and made some wonderful dining recommendations. Our room was very cute. It has a country cottage appeal-bedding was high quality, as were the bath towels and toiletries. Our bed was so comfortable with the best pillows I've ever slept on. Bath robes were also provided, which was also such a nice touch. Our daily breakfast delivery was very special. I loved all of it-there was such an attention to detail-like a ramekin of Maldon salt flakes to add to the tomatoes on my lox and cream cheese bagel. Orange juice and coffee press every morning, and always a well balanced breakfasts. Eating off of hand crafted pottery made the meals even more appealing. I loved all those special touches. Any time we'd see Robyn in passing, she would always greet us with her beautiful smile and wonderful energy. She is such an asset to sea breeze. I'm sure the proprietors must know what an absolute gem they have in Robyn. Our room was close to the main road-so we did have to deal with a bit of street noise, however, it was also ticked all the way in back, which felt more private than some of the other cottages.
