The ONLY issues we've had with this place was we did find some 2 small hair strands in the shower, but overall, the room was still clean. Showering did make us a LITTLE uncomfortable since there wasn't any curtain or covering on top of the window in the bathroom for privacy since we could see the upstairs window of the house next door, hopefully no one was in that house while we stayed since there was construction being done on that house during the day, so I'm assuming the house was currently unoccupied but even when we ONLY had the shower lights on to shower you could still see straight out the window right at that window next door, so if there was someone home they can definitely get "a show" from our shower. Haha. So I HOPE they put a curtain on top for peace of mind for the guests, once the house next door will be occupied. (See pic of bathroom window). Also sometimes guests don't drive & have to take a train in and pack light (we won't always fit umbrellas) so when it rains... if more than just 2 umbrellas could be available for the guests in case it rains, that would be great and that would show extra care. Actually have 2 umbrellas in each room, would be even better because we thought the 2 umbrellas outside the 1st floor room were the guests' umbrellas. Aside from those little things, we'd definitely visit again and stay here, the decent pricing also made us choose this place over the other choices, by the way!

It's in walking distance of my restaurants and shops. It's a short drive to many nearby attractions such as the cliff walk. Randy and Lisa were great hosts. We requested to check in early and they were very accommodating. When we arrived Lisa gave us a rundown of the area and suggested a few things to do/places to eat. The room we stayed in was big, clean and comfortable. We were able to control our own air which we appreciated. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful! Coffee and water was readily available at all times. I would definitely stay at the Firehouse Inn again!

This Inn is located right on Thames Street walkable to many restaurants & shops, the wharf,…read moremansions, etc. The Inn also is home to one of Newport's best restaurants, Chanterelle. The Inn has a small parking lot plus 3 spots on the street for its guests. One car per guest room. That is a definite plus. We stayed in the Harbor House in the Brittany Suite. The price average to $470 per night. I liked the convenience of using a code to get into the front door of the building and also the individual rooms. No key card or key to lose. Our suite was located on the first floor of Harbor House. You walk into the bedroom area and then there is a sitting area complete with a little kitchen area and further back is the bathroom. The closet was extremely small and there was no room on one side of the bed for a nightstand which was inconvenient for the person on that side of the bed. The kitchen area had a cooktop, microwave, little sink and refrigerator. The refrigerator was stocked daily with juice, milk & water. There were utensils & dishes to use, but there was no skillet/pan to use on the cooktop so it wasn't really usable without a pan. Every morning, a yogurt parfait and a fresh baked pastry was dropped at the door for breakfast. Upon check-in, there was a note on our file that I cannot have nuts or seeds. I thought that was wonderful that they remembered, and I reiterated that restriction includes berries like strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries with Anna who greeted us. Unfortunately, every parfait that was delivered had berries in it. I wish they would've just stuck with bananas and blueberries in mine so I wouldn't have to fish out the fruit that I couldn't eat to give to my husband. Also, there were some pastries I couldn't eat because they had nuts or seeds in them. Although it was great that they put a note on my file, the Inn forgot to honor it. When I brought it to their attention about day 5 of my stay, they were very apologetic and said that they would make sure that my food didn't have nuts or seeds. The very next morning I received a parfait with strawberries and a warm almond croissant, which my husband ate along with his because I could not have it. Ugh! I was surprised for the price I paid for a week at this establishment that my request was not honored. I also thought it would be nice if a couple pastries were savory like with eggs. Other than the couple negatives, the location was great, having a spot to park was good, having a refrigerator stocked with beverages was great, having breakfast delivered to your room was great, the larger room was great and finally, housekeeping was good. I would definitely stay here again and I do recommend this Inn for the positive things I've mentioned.

There was only one item a day, BUT it was made to order. It was AWESOME! Parking is tight and there's no on-street parking on the street where Town and Tide is located; there is street parking on adjacent side streets. When we arrived, we were greeted with great warmth in the main house dining room. We were shown how to access the main house when the doors are locked and then shown to our room in the Garden House. Our hostess took time to make sure we understood the locking system and explained the entire property. There is a she-shed off the garden area where there's a couch and comfy chairs, a refrigerator for guests' use, some wine glasses, and they serve hot cocoa here in the evening. We unfortunately missed the hot cocoa bar because we had scheduled plans, but did check it out on our return later that night. A beautiful set up that's very welcoming. Our room was on the first floor. Plenty of heat in the bathroom and the bedroom was comfortable. The guests above us were a little noisy late at night, but that's probably just wood floors not buffering sounds. I slept well in that comfortable king bed. Breakfast was in the dining room in the main building, served 8-10 am. Before arrival, you let them know of any dietary restrictions. They have a set meal they serve--that day, its was blueberry French toast casserole with bacon, and it was superb. There's also coffee and tea that guests can help themselves to at any time, plus juices, yogurt, and granola. A bowl of delectable fruit topped it all off. Everything was amazing. At check-out, you simply lock the door behind you and leave. We were very happy with our stay and will return, hopefully when the weather is warmer so we can enjoy the gardens.

I feel like the luckiest person ever - as I managed to get the highly sought after tickets for the…read moreiconic Newport Folk Festival on my first try . . . but also was able to stay at this wonderful guest house.  The innkeeper, Lisa, worked miracles to make this happen and I'll be forever grateful.   Her home truly feels like a 2nd home - each room is so tastefully decorated with lots of books to browse through, as well as cozy chairs in which to read them with my favorite being on her wonderful front porch.  Coffee, tea and cocoas were available 24/7 and she often had cookies or brownies along with fresh fruit available for snacks throughout the day.  She baked something fresh and different for breakfast on each of the 6 days I stayed there, and also offered yummy organic granolas, yougurts, fresh fruit (melons, pineapple, strawberries) and hard boiled eggs.  She also thoughtfully offers a variety of milks and creamers for the coffees and teas.  One other guest even whipped up a mean chai latte, as they weren't a coffee drinker.  I appreciated her environmental thoughtfulness of not using disposables and the cloth napkins & breakfast trays really enhanced the feeling of being at home.  She also has a variety of beach chairs, umbrellas, sun screens, insect repellents, etc. that can be borrowed for use throughout your stay.  I will certainly be trying each year for future Folk & Jazz Fest tickets . . . and hope that I will also be lucky enough to return to Lionel Champlin Guest House.

Location is impressively close to the harbour and shops. The house itself is very beautiful. It has several unique guest rooms located upstairs away from the common and private areas. The landlord (Rusty) was very polite and helpful. We were 2 people in the Blue Room. It is nicely decorated in a traditional way and has a private bathroom with modern fixtures. It is very comfortable, and was pleasant at all times without air conditioning. It is in a quiet area so we were able to keep windows open all night and enjoy the fresh air. The continental style breakfasts (coffee, pastry/bread and fruit) were just right to get us going for the day. There is a small fridge in a common area to put your drinks or small items. There are both indoor (screened sun room) and outdoor sitting areas to enjoy your drink at any time, including late evenings after a day out on the town. Parking was provided and there were no hidden costs. We hope to return here some day.

We had an outstanding Halloween evening getaway at the Jailhouse Inn!…read moreAlthough we've been coming to Newport for 30+ years, this was our first stay here, and we will definitely return! The front desk was very friendly and helpful, the Halloween decor was fun, and the "jailhouse" details such as iron-barred & detective division doors, memorabilia, etc. were well done (not kitschy). Our 3rd floor room (Cell #20)had 2 queen beds which had the most comfortable mattresses and pillows, and featured wood beams and a large bathroom with beautiful vintage tile floors. The room faced the street, with beautiful views of an historic church and the White Horse Tavern. There were fresh baked cookies at 3pm, and the continental breakfast had plenty of variety, and was of good quality.
