Diane, the owner, was amazing. She did everything possible to make all the guests feel comfortable. It was a quaint, cozy, welcoming environment. For some guests it was stressful being stranded on the island. Diane helped to make it a very positive experience. I am thankful our extended stay was at the Sheffield house. I highly recommend staying here. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The decor was nice. Diane served breakfast every morning ( coffee, juice, milk, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, yogurt, homemade breads...) I LOVE the Sheffield House. I highly recommend staying here!!

The only reason for the 3-star was air circulation was bad. With the A/C on, it was still uncomfortably hot and stuffy throughout the night. I'm not sure if I just didn't operate it properly, but it was a bit stuffy even with the large window unit that you think would be able to cool down a smaller room. Location is great, maybe my room was a fluke. Just watch for the air circulation, but otherwise I think it's a solid stay on Block Island.

We…read morethoroughly enjoyed and appreciated the beautiful structure and room (#1) as well as the owners Carmen & Kevin and their small but pleasant staff. Just a lovely place. This is a perfect get away, peaceful, close to beaches and restaurants (Go to the Oar for Mudslides). I intended to write this review when we first got home, but it slipped my mind. Everyone was angry and felt that the place was a dump considering the prices that they charged to stay there. We all agreed that the rooms were worth 100 bucks a night if at all that. The owner obviously does not care about repeat business. One family of 4 we're paying 900. For two nites in one of their efficiency rooms. For that price two of them had to sleep on cots....btw they store them in the back in little green plastic sheds. Do your research and find another place to stay....this place is a dump.

Basically a $100 Hampton Inn is significantly nicer & has a much better breakfast, at 3.5x the cost I shouldn't have to repair the toilet every time I flush it. But maybe this is normal for Block Island, which would explain why Day Tripping is very common if not the majority of the tourists.
