Fish is way too salty and the meal was cold. I remember when they opened years ago. Long John Silver was the talk of the town, not anymore.

Food was hot but very greasy. Place was really dirty. Bathrooms were disgusting with greasy and slippery floors. I'd avoid it!!!!!

Friendly staff, the drive thru took forever. But the greasy food hit the spot, so I say stop on in!

I had an excellent meal here! My friend and I came in for dinner and wow this place gets busy. But…read moreeveryone was super friendly and we were luckily able to find seats at the bar. They brew their own beer and it was all super tasty. The bartender was also nice enough to give me a small sample of two of the beers so I can decide which I wanted to have with my meal. My friend and I shared a pizza, a platter of wings, and a burnt ends plate. First of all- I was shocked how good the pizza was. Given I'm originally from NJ, I'm a bit of a pizza snob. But it was actually quite tasty. The platter of wings was solid. Not the biggest wings in the world, but the plate came with a bunch and the sauce was really good. And the burnt ends were phenomenal. Super tender, lots of flavor. The place itself was very lively- lots of happy, talking people getting ready for the night. Certainly a place to come to feel "energy". I was certainly overly stuffed after this meal- would come back again!

The beers are top-notch -- from the easy-drinking Canned Good and Flor Blanca Mexican Lager to the rich Thresher Porter, they're clearly brewing with care and creativity. The food matches the quality of the beer. We've been here for brunch and highly recommend it -- everything from the eggs to the bread feels fresh and flavorful. I also love how many of their ingredients are sourced locally, which really adds to the quality and uniqueness of each dish. On this visit, we shared the fried cheese curds and the brisket grilled cheese! We also happened to stop by for a jazz night, which was such a fun surprise. The live music totally elevated the atmosphere and made the evening feel special. That said, there's still a bit more they could do with the space -- it would be great to see more regular live music or special events to bring even more life to the room. Prices are a bit higher than average for Columbia, but for the quality, atmosphere, and local charm, it's worth it. Great beer, great food, great people -- a solid 4 stars!

It's also fairly cheap for the portions and most people will even have some leftovers. The only thing I wish this fish stand had was some local fish like Bass or Crappie even just as a special every once in awhile, it would take it from four stars to five. But if your looking for a good meal for a reasonable price and like fried fish check it out.

I really wanted to not eat anything and run when I got home, as the nice days this fall are going to be over before you know it. But then I thought about gorging myself at Chinese Buffet. Sitting all by myself, stuffing myself. Jacki said it made her sad to think about me eating by myself and I would be a little embarassed to be seen eating by myself in Alton... So I drove a little farther and made a quick two lane change and pulled up to this little fish shack. I have been wanting to try here forever (since my love for fried fish began). I'm glad I finally made it by. The lady manning the window wasn't the friendliest, but I'm probably not the clientele she is most used to dealing with. I am not well versed in fish and asked her what she thought of a couple of them before just deciding myself to go with a Jack sandwich. I didn't know there was a fish named Jack, but he was rather tasty. She did inform me a couple of the sandwich varieties have bones in them, so I am happy of that. I also went with a side of potato salad which I was originally disappointed in the size, but the flavor ended up making up for that times 100! It was mustardy and sweet, kind of pickley. It didn't take long for them to fry up the fish and in no time I was sitting in Kohl's parking lot enjoying my bounty. The sandwich came with two filets, two pieces of bread of your coice (wheat), bread and butter pickles, and onions. It was awesome! So flaky and delicious. At first I was a little nervous this Jack was going to be too fishy, but that was not that case at all. I will definitely be making trips back by here.

We ordered a couple items to share and everything came out hot and tasty without a long wait. There is definitely some classic college-bar charm in the atmosphere. The floors were a bit sticky and it is not the cleanest place you will ever walk into, but it also has that friendly energy that keeps the tables full and people coming back. Service was quick, upbeat, and super helpful with recommendations. If you are looking for a laid back spot with great deals, this is it. Perfect for grabbing drinks and snacks with friends before heading out for the night. Would happily go again.

Walking around campus can build up a thirst and hunger and it's an easy place to meet both of those needs. The Ruben was well toasted and the corned beef was the real deal. I got the painkiller cocktail that is just straight liquor so there is a limit of 2 per customer so please drink responsibly. Try the flavored lemonades and ice teas as you get unlimited refills which is a great deal! The fried white fish was so crispy and flavorful. I paired it with the green beans and sweet carrots. My companion got the smokehouse bacon burger and that sauce was amazing! If you save room, get the giant carrot cake or skillet cookie! My drink had a rose petal in it, but that little touch didn't feel contrived or cheeky - it was just a nice pop of color in a great-tasting drink. Dinner was the highlight - I ordered the boom boom shrimp - served on a bed of sushi rice, there were mangos, thinly sliced jalapeños, purple cabbage, shrimp fried to perfection, and a nicely flavored boom boom sauce on top. My only criticism of this place is that plates come out of the kitchen as they make them, so be prepared to share a dish or wait.
