I love Petes! I mean, the place is a total dive...but the food is so good!!! He is only open in the summer.

We went to Camp Nauvoo to celebrate our 7 year anniversary and my daughter's 1 year birthday. We…read morerented a tiny house for memorial weekend for three nights. We were wanting something like camping but a little more comfy since I'm also 5 mo pregnant. The grounds are beautiful and Dawn the manager is very sweet! There was a nice fire pit with free wood. The downsides outweighed the pluses though. The dishes in the tiny house were completely filthy and needed to be washed before using. The "couch" was really just a broken futon that no one could realistically sit on. We had to use the mattress pads from the loft to help be able to sit on it. As a pregnant person, I couldn't sit and get back up. The house was very dirty, which isn't a huge problem but there were massive cockroaches in the entire place. We had them in the kitchen, on the dishes, in the linens, in the bathroom, bedroom, even in our car when we came home! I expect some bugs and dirt, like ants, gnats, mosquitos, some spiders, since you are camping, but definitely not roaches. Especially with our daughter sleeping in there. We also paid $110 per night plus had to pay a hotel fee of 12% per night which I assume is for cleaning, but nothing was clean. We would love to go back as a yearly tradition but will not if the cleanliness and roaches are like that. The other downside was all Saturday the grounds were being mowed so you could hear the mower the entire day which ruined the peacefulness and tranquility people escape for. And there was an RV spot literally right next to our house which was distracting and not peaceful. Lastly the door has two different handles that you have to turn together to be able to get in or out. This was awful being pregnant and carrying my daughter. I couldn't get in or out without help. Hopefully these issues can be addressed and one day we can go back to enjoy it more, especially what you pay for it.
