    FRIED GREEN BEANS!
    Bruce M.

I like this place. It's in a small town in southern iowa right by the mississippi river. People are friendly and food is exceptional. I had the fried green beans, yes I said fried green beans. They are very good. I also had the chicken cordon blue and it was pretty good as well.

Codon Blue with side of onion rings

Stopped for lunch. Fast and Friendly service. Good Brad's Iowa tenderloins. Good chicken Cordon Bleu. Onion rings are good, but You pay and extra .75 to make them a side and you don't get many. Good variety of sandwiches. Expanded menu and dinner.

Really enjoyed the appetizers and the food. The back was pretty full and we had small kids so they opened up the front for us

Expensive but the food is good. I have only ate there a few times due to the higher cost and much better family options in town.

I was on a quest to find the crispiest chimichanga, and I think I found it at The Cellar :) The service is a little slow, though.

Review Visit: August 8th, 2016…read more Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo. I like to say that bar food is the best food, so when I am out and about exploring, I try to find pubs that have good reviews to eat at. With that train of thought in mind, The Buffalo came up on my radar one day after exploring Iowa. Having an empty belly that kept reminding me to get some food, I headed over to The Buffalo to see what they offered. Upon entering, I was greeted with the usual dim-lit bar scene. Nothing was too bright but nothing was too dark. It was the right mix of each. As for the bar itself, it was your typical bar with the usual decor that you see in most bars. What was unique about this place was the massive amount of writing on the ceiling. It seemed almost every ceiling tile had something scrawled on it. There may be a story to it, but it's not found on this out-of-towner. I ordered the The Western Bacon BBQ Burger with fries. I remember being disappointed in the small size of the burger but rather enjoying the taste of it and the fries. The small size of the burger was made up by the fries and I left with a mostly full belly and a smile on my face. Within reason, I am okay with smaller sizes if the flavor/quality blows me away. At some point during my visit, I noticed they sold those gimmicky pull tab lotto tickets. Being the sucker for a cheap thrill, I bought 2 for $1 or something like that. I won something like $0.50 and bought another pull tab.. which was a non-winner. Between the unique ceiling, tasty food, usual bar environment, and friendly customer service, I would have to say you won't be buffaloed by visiting this tavern.

Great friendly local bar. They have great drink specials. The Gouda cheese curds are terrific…read more Will be back for sure.

We all…read moreenjoyed some beers or cocktails, and the food overall was good - heavy, decadent, messy bar food! I tried the ponyshoe with tenderloin and grilled onions, the bratwurst with onion rings, and the tenderloin sandwich. Everything was good, and we had a good time here! The service was good, and the food came out fast. No complaints! Had a great time!

Cheese Curds with ranch or chipotle ranch. These were amazing! Wasn't a fan of the water thin chipotle ranch, but the cheese stands alone. The hamburger Pony Shoe was flavorful and plentiful! Winner! The ribeye sandwich was another story. It came to the table dressed as a burger, with bacon lettuce tomato and some condiment. I was taken aback. I've never seen an establishment do that to such a flavorful cut of meat. Sorry, no review as I sent it back. But the onion rings were probably the best I've eaten in Macomb. There were 6 people who seemed to be staff for maybe 20 diners and a handful of drinkers. We didn't get bad service, we did feel a bit like an inconvenience a couple of times. Average service overall. If you hold higher expectations for a total dining experience, look elsewhere. Maybe more experienced diners aren't looking at the hot spot it could be on the weekends. (Old fogies out of our element?)
