I had dinner with my family at Sports Corner @124 a few weeks ago when we were in Macomb. We all enjoyed some beers or cocktails, and the food overall was good - heavy, decadent, messy bar food! I tried the ponyshoe with tenderloin and grilled onions, the bratwurst with onion rings, and the tenderloin sandwich. Everything was good, and we had a good time here! This place was a mixed bag last night. Very first, iced tea tasted odd and was pretty pale. It happens a lot with tea, alone NBD. Next appetizer. Cheese Curds with ranch or chipotle ranch. These were amazing! Wasn't a fan of the water thin chipotle ranch, but the cheese stands alone. The hamburger Pony Shoe was flavorful and plentiful! Winner! The ribeye sandwich was another story. It came to the table dressed as a burger, with bacon lettuce tomato and some condiment. I was taken aback. I've never seen an establishment do that to such a flavorful cut of meat. Sorry, no review as I sent it back. But the onion rings were probably the best I've eaten in Macomb. There were 6 people who seemed to be staff for maybe 20 diners and a handful of drinkers. We didn't get bad service, we did feel a bit like an inconvenience a couple of times. Average service overall. If you hold higher expectations for a total dining experience, look elsewhere. Okay so this place hasn't really changed. I did my undergrad here from 07-11 and it was two different places. Now it is new and different. It's a nice little place with extremely greasy food and all that you'd expect from a college pub. Lots of TV's and sports on TV. Lots of atmosphere of a WIU vibe. The service isn't great, but could be worse. The kitchen is also quite slow. If they improved the service and kitchen efficacy, it would be much better. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped here while we were out of town traveling we gambled a little bit in the machines the service was OK but the bartender was kind of rude we went to cash in our vouchers from gambling And the machine was not working properly little did I know the machine and the bar are not affiliated with one another so we were unable to get our money back from gambling and when The bartender gave me the phone number to call the tech company the tech company said they would call me when the machine was fixed and they never did the next day we went back to pick up our money hope the machine would be fixed but they were closed and did not open till four unfortunately we had to go back to life and get back to our homes so we are out all this money $120 read more

Ate here for dinner the other night and although they were busy, the staff was working hard and didn't forget about us. The smash burger & cheese curds were super good. My boyfriend loved the wings & fries. I had the Pink Lemonade cocktail and was obsessed. My bf loved their craft beer selection. Sports corner is the place to go! If you're looking for a quick bite or to stay a while look no further. From the excellent selection of beers and drinks to the extensive menu of various items all is great! Not to mention the amazing servers! All in all very attentive and super nice. Mixed experiences in dis place. I've gone several times and been very pleased leaving, but around busy times the staff seems to be untrained and extremely overwhelmed. Have a great beer and craft beer selection with a bunch of unique cocktails to match. Cannot go wrong with the create your own burger/chicken breast/pork cut... (Want it BBQ style, blackened, grilled, fried, mesquite, etc etc are all options to have it cooked). Overall 3/5 stars because it can be a little inconsistent, but truthfully a good place when all engines are running smoothly read more

True to their name...this is definitely a sports bar. It was very loud and busy and the wait staff had their hands full. A friend of mine wanted to try out someplace different for dinner on a Saturday night and neither of us had been to Sports Corner and had heard good things. It was very busy when we got there and only had one table free...a hightop, which being short, isn't my favorite place to sit, but was the only one available. My friend ordered a "Campfire White Russian" and loved it, which is the only reason for giving 2 stars instead of one. Neither of us liked our food. She ordered some loaded nachos and only ate one chip and called it quits. They were stale and unseasoned and the cheese sauce tastes like something from a high school cafeteria. I ordered a small personal sized pizza and it looked like someone microwaved a frozen pizza. The cheese was rubbery and the crust was really thin and soggy. There was a hockey match on that night also, so every so often, there would be a bunch or cheering and yelling that scared the crap out of me and started to cause a headache. There waitress was very attentive when we first got there, but when we'd given up on our food and we're ready for the bill...she was no where to be found. When she finally did give us our bills, she disappeared again and we had to wait another 15 for her to come back to take our cards. If I come back, I'd like to give the place a shot during the day when it's not so busy and loud. read more

Local sports bar with plenty of games on and a fanatic customer atmosphere. The service is pretty good, hiring many college-aged servers which I like. The food is not my cup of tea as it is mostly fried or oily, mostly typical bar food. I must say that the salads are really great though and I love that they are big supporters in the community. I also find them really easy to work with for events I've planned in the past. A lot of people love it here and you will find many WIU fans, employees and students hanging out at any given time. Big selection of beer is the big plus for this place. Plenty of TV's to watch the game you want. They also have some good salads and wraps. Now to the not-so-good. What happened to the burgers? The menu used to have a page dedicated to giving you a way to design your burger with a large number of different types of cheese, toppings, and sauces. The burgers would come hot off the grill. The sauces would be hot and already on the burger. Condiments were fresh and the buns were toasted. Now, the menu has half a page dedicated to pre-designed burgers. This would be fine if the burgers were still good. Now, the burgers do not taste like they just came off the grill. The condiments tasted only sort-of-fresh, but they did blend in well at all with the rest of the burger. For example, I usually get bacon with my burger. The first few times I came here, it tasted like the burger and bacon and onion rings were all cooked at the same time. Now, the past 3 times I've been here, the burger and bacon tasted cold, with only the onion rings tasting like they were just cooked. And I loved their hot steaming teriyaki sauce on my burger..but now, each of the past 3 times, they serve it cold on the side in a cup. The bread was cold and soggy. Once I poured the sauce on my burger, it made the burgers even colder. It's very disappointing that these changes have resulted in burgers that I would say aren't any better than a Quarter-pounder at McDonalds. Since there are no other places open on a Sunday night in Macomb we stopped at this place (also the football playoffs were on as well). The place is great to watch a game. The beer selection is awesome. I was not very impressed with my food but to me it was good as far as "bar" food goes. I would not say it would be a place that I would recommend for dinner. People were real nice. Seemed like a nice mix of students and locals. Overall I would go back for the beer and appetizers but would not order dinner. read more

I am a frequent customer at your establishment. Until recently i have always had for the most part great service. The past few months this has not been the case. 4 out of the last 5 times I have not had good service. Yesterday a friend and I came in for a late lunch. It was not busy at all. Service was great until i asked about desert. Once i asked for my desert the waitress did not come to the table at all and we waited almost 20 minutes. I asked for the check as i did not want the desert anymore due to it taking so long. As she went to get the check she then brought out the desert and i sent it back. Unfortunately this is not the only time something like this has happened. A week ago my girlfriend and I ran into my aunt and uncle there had had supper with them. When my uncles pizza was brought out he asked for another beer. He ate the entire pizza before the beer he requested arrived. The worst part about this was all the waitreses where standing next to the kitchen. They all stood there for at least 10 minutes. Non of them checked on there tables. This seems to be a repeating issue once the main meal is brought out the waitresses forget about there tables. There have been several times that we will wait upwards of 20 minutes just to get our checks after we have eaten. Sports corner is one of the best places to eat in macomb and has some of the best food, but the service is starting to become an issue. I hope this is addressed as I do not want to stop being a frequent customer due to poor service. I really do hope service improves here as it is the only reason i am giving it 2 starts. I have seen this place sprout up from a struggling new restaurant to a place you can barely get a table at during dinner hours. One thing has always remained consistent, they have the best and biggest selection of beer in town. If you like imports and micro-brews, look no further. Other places in town just plain fail compared to Corner @ 124. The food is definitely good if its done right. They seem to go through cooks a lot and quality control gets a little wacky. For instance, their burgers use to be my and my girlfriend's favorite thing to eat in town - hands down. They're 1/3 lbs, they're toppings list is immaculate, and the way they season the meat is just plain delicious. The last three times we went there, they're having this problem with the bottom bun where half of it is just soggy and mushy with grease. It breaks my heart because it has actually caused us to pass up the Corner as our choice for dinner several times now. Other than that, their menu is progressive and substantial. It boasts lots of creative appetizer choices, well done spins on American favorites, and an extensive wine, beer and signature drink list. The service is always pretty good. Ben is our favorite server and the manager, Lindsey, is super-attentive. All in all, it's a great place. I'm glad people have finally started to figure that out. read more

I suggest exercising caution before spending money at this establishment. I enjoyed my first visit, which encouraged me to return. I am writing this review after my second visit and am sad to say I will not be returning at any time. I was charged for two drinks I never received nor wanted. When the bartender, Holly, who deserves great praise for her ability and service, brought this discrepancy to her manager's attention, Abbi, her response was "I don't make the rules". No apology for the confusion, no explanation of reasoning from my first visit to my second, just a simple flippant response. I will not say that no one should frequent this establishment, merely to exercise caution, and avoid having problems with your order if Abbi is working. She does not make the rules, so she obviously cannot ameliorate the issue at hand. read more

Best sports bar in town and very supportive of WIU, they will have all the big games and even play the WIU Games when they can. Great food and a large selection of beer and alcohol. The service continues to go downhill. I tried to pay at the bar, holding a $20 bill up in the air for 15 minutes. The bartender, Clair, ignored me as she rushed to serve others drinks. I've never had trouble, anywhere, trying to pay for food or beverage. I had to walk to the register/host station to get her attention. Their cod sandwich is actually a cheap pollock fillet. Everything is severely over priced and of pretty poor quality. If you have to lie about your fish sandwich you prolly have to lie about a lot more. I know a ton of people who work here and it is not clean either. Avoid. read more
