I've been going here for years. I grew up in keokuk and this place is 100% my go-to whenever I'm in town. I highly recommend their food is always awesome and the prices aren't bad at all. It's a great little family diner. Our family even ordered a turkey for Thanksgiving from them one year, it was fantastic and it took so much pressure off alot of families shoulders, especially with how empty the stores are during the Thanksgiving season. I enjoyed a fantastic breakfast here before I moved here. Ir was an amazing breakfast eggs sausage toast everything cooked just perfect to my liking. The waitress was so pleasant and polite and returned many times to make sure everything was alright or if we need anything else. All she seem to care about was her customers and ther needs. 5 stars for the food, and the food is all you should come for. Service, ambiance, and everything else take a second seat, but that's ok with me! A busy place with tons of locals enjoying the offerings and keeping the staff too busy to offer more than the basics in service. Forget that though! I got the 1/2 rack of ribs, and they were cooked to absolute perfection. The ribs are not fall off the bone - they're much better! Just a little chewing needed to get the most out of them, ya know? I think they would have been the best ever if they hadn't been over salted. What a shame, but they still rank with the best in my book. My wife got a pulled pork sandwich, and said the smoked pork was second only to mine. Pardon my lack of modesty, but that is high praise! I've went to Forth Worth multiple times and had excellent service but today i was disrespected by (almost) the entire staff. When i called to make a complaint i asked to speak to the general manager or owner and they had me talk to at least three different people. i was yelled at and told i that it was my fault by the woman who claimed to be the "general manager". She tried to argue with me over the phone before i could even explain the situation. then lastly the phone was handed to the "owner" who told me he would "handle the situation" then the conversation was ended. i am a paying customer!!! the REAL owner needs to have a talk with their employees on how to treat their customers. i will not be spending my money there anymore. read more

This little gem is the best place in town. Real home cooked food ,the most amazing creamed peas, fresh brewed sweet tea and a friendly stuff. We recently moved away from Keokuk but, every time we are back in town, we make it a point to stop at the Fort Worth. Order the special and grab a glass of sweet tea. Full Rack of ribs $21, big enough for two to share, meat was smoked, but the smothered sauce (Cattleman's) distracted from the ribs. Why not serve texas toast instead of bread? Fries were frozen baked variety I think. The service was very helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was nice and the exterior had a cool vibe. It's a base yet that could be so much more. read more

This is some of the best smoked/bbq meat I've had at a restaurant. Certainly the best priced. I see so many people complain that its packed with locals, but that should be your first clue on how good this place is. I've been here 5 times. Mostly for lunch and once for supper. Place was packed at 11:15 with almost all local workers. This is usually a good sign if a place is full. Since it is supposed to be a BBQ place I ordered the burnt tips sandwich. The odd part was everyone else was ordering burgers which should have warned me. The meat was tender but had such a gas flavor from their grill (wherever it was) that it was difficult to eat it. Open during Covid-19, this amazing place has great staff and wonderful food. My father makes the best ribs I know of, and this place fits his taste. That tells you a lot. While we were here, one of the waitresses found a man's keys on the table. The staff kept them safe until he returned to look. The prices are reasonable and the amount of food is filling. Pretty good food. Restaurant is not easy on the eyes and looks like it's serving up the blandest Dennys kind of food there is. But, it's got some decent BBQ. I had the burnt ends sandwich, not sure why since I've never been a big fan of burnt throwaway scraps, but whatever. It was good though. Brother ordered the ribs and they were very good. This was the worst experience I have ever had!!!!!! I am a native Texan, so I was happy to see the state flag and the words bar b que. However, I ordered a coke and it smelled and tasted like a rancid sponge. So I asked for another, same thing, then tea, same thing. Then I ordered the smoked brisket and it was bland, cold, and the bar b que sauce was from Walmart. I am horrified that they stuck my state flag on their sign and have the audacity to think it is ok. They disgrace Texas and should stick to what they know Iowa. Do they even have a health department here? Every restaurant that I have been to here in Iowa is disgraceful. Dirty, practicing unsafe, disgusting procedures. I cannot wait to get out of here. read more
