All of our dishes were excellent as well: carnitas were giant, juicy chunks of flavor, the chicken chimichanga had a nice seasoning and wasn't dry, and the paellla-- holy cow... DO NOT MISS. Steak, chicken AND shrimp with the queso intertwined. One of the best Mexican dishes I've ever had! Included what appeared to be homemade tortillas as well but honestly you don't even need them. Just so much flavor!! Don't let the outside fool you, this is a MUST if you're eating in the area...

Based on that, we made plans to meet friends there at 3:00 PM. By 4:15 PM, staff told us they were closed, cutting short our visit with friends we hadn't seen in over two years. As we were leaving, we noticed a sign on the door saying they closed at 4:00 PM, but it was not there when we walked in. Had we known, we would have chosen somewhere else to meet.

My hubby and I usually get the Steak Fajita's with rice, beans, guacamole and flour tortillas and they give you plenty of food. I usually have to add a little bit of salt to my fajitas, but otherwise, it's pretty decent. They also give you a side of chips and salsa for the table. Christina has been our server several times and she always does a great job! Friendly, gets our orders right, and handles the lunch rush like a champ! All in all, Santana's is consistent and reliable, especially for this neighborhood.

So i was fairly hungry but didnt want to do Burger King or MCd. The atmosphere here is great. There are murals on the wall that totally make you feel like you are in Mexico. Not sure if it is where the place is situated or what but I dont feel like I am in fort madison at all. I have worked in FTM for a couple decades so a little change of pace is nice. Some mexican music playing but not too loud. Again just really nice. Overall the tables were clean and bathrooms nice and clean to. Well done. I kind of cheaped out and got the taco with beans and rice. Before i ordered i got chips and salsa which i think is part of any meal, and if that is canned salsa I want to know where I can get some, otherwise I think this is made on site. Either way it was great. I thought maybe I should have gotten a bigger meal but the taco with the beans and rice plus chips was perfectly filling. Next time i might go for something bigger. Service start to finish was phenomenal. Quick to get a seat, get food, and get the check. There was a family of people at a decent size table and what I think are probably regulars who 'know' in several booths. And at 330pm? Nobody else is putting asses in seats at that time of day. I am glad that I 'know' now. I will be going back whenever I am in the area. I noticed the manager who was very nice was handling sizeable orders over the phone while taking care of everyone. I think there is a following out there for this place. Price for what I had was well worth it. Pancheros Burlington, take some notes!!
