I'm so grateful that this place is still here, right on Keokuk's Main Street, after so many years. Is it the best Mexican food ever? Not really. But the service is excellent, the food is fresh and tasty (especially the rice and beans), and they even have Jarritos (though sadly no Mexican Coke). It's refreshing to find a cheerful local restaurant surviving here, when so many small businesses in the area are closing. read more

When I was visiting Keokuk, this was one of my favorite place to go to when I needed a taste of home. There aren't that many Mexican restaurants in Keokuk, so this was always a great place for a well-needed fix of great food. Thankfully, the prices are great. The atmosphere reminded me of home and my culture, so I felt even more at home. And, of course, the friendly staff knew how to speak Spanish (which is a #1 requirement). read more

Amazing Chile Rellenos and white cheese dip!!! Both of these dishes remind me when I lived in Atlanta and had the best mexican food at a place called El Toro. I never thought I would find chile rellenos like the ones I had when I was a kid but I did at Fiesta Jalisco! They are meaty and cheesy! The place smells like disinfectant and that definitely takes away from the atmosphere. That is why I gave it a lower rating than usual. The service is fast and very friendly. All and all it is a place I would recommend if you like Mexican and happen to be in Keokuk! Just plug your nose when you walk through the door. read more

We were staying in Nauvoo and needed a good place for our family to eat. The chips and salsa were great and my kids loved the nachos. The Chile rellenos were excellent and the whole meal really hit the spot after a long day touring in Nauvoo. We even left some shoes at the restaurant and they kept them for three days until we made it back! read more

The enchilladas were good. Nothing was special, but all the food was as good as I expected from a mexican restaurant like this. I am surely going to return to this plave for lunch or perhaps a margarita with dinner. The salsa was exceptional, and made it difficult to stop eating the bottomless chips. read more

What a wonderful find in Keokuk. When I travel to Ft. Madison often for work I am always looking for new places that are delicious. This place is in fact yumarific. A Co-worker took me here and I was blown out of the waters. Instantly you feel in the mood due to the Mexican decor. The service is fast and great. There are tons of booths and plenty of seating so I am sure you never have to wait for a seat. I ordered guac that came with the free chips and it was very plain and average. Then I ordered a fajita dish and it was amazing. They give you way more meat and veggies than you could ever possibly fill in the 3 or 4 tortillas they give you. Everything was so tender and perfectly cooked. They also have a bunch of decent beers to select from and margarita specials during certain times of the week. Next time I am in town I WILL be going back. Everything was very afforadable and I recieved more than my monies worth. Los Tapatios does not get 5 starts due to the older/ non-updated feel I get from this place. Its kind of dark and I would just like to see an amazing place like this have a bomb atmopshere. read more

I was on a business trip to a customer and found this place from a recommendation at my hotel. There's not many options in Keokuk, so I thought why not... The food is awesome, it reminds me of some of my favorite Mexican restraraunts. The white cheese dips is a must order as an appetizer, it's delicious, I was eating by myself and ate like 2 baskets of chips with it and I'm not a big guy. I went with my go-to which is Steak Fajitas, it came out sizzling and it too was excellent. Sometimes I find that the fajitas can be either over or under seasoned, this was seasoned perfectly. Also, the Margaritas are really good, they range from 12 oz. to "you're not driving home". I would give 5 stars, but the service is mediocre, and the inside is a bit run down. With that said, it's a great casual place to go to, but not a first date atmosphere. read more

Called in a very simple to go order. Tacos.. Who can get that wrong right? Was told 10-15 minutes. Go down in 30. Food not done. Waited for almost 40 minutes for food, get home shorted 3 of the tacos, plus the food was cold. Definitely lost our business. read more

The food was hot and the service quick and friendly, but there's something seriously wrong when you order a dish with chicken, beef, carnitas, chorizo, onions, and peppers, and it's BLAND. Even the salsa was bland- like they just opened up a can of diced tomatoes and called it salsa. Seriously, if you have tastebuds, avoid this joint. Not a good experience. Went to this place with a couple of co-workers and had a couple of margaritas. We had noticed that the server was taking a straw to our drinks and looked like he was trying to pick stuff out. He then served our margaritas and we then noticed that there were tiny little fruit flies floating in our beverages. We informed him of the issue and he brought out new drinks for everyone with more fruit flies in them. We told him that it must be in the ice. He then proceeded to make another round of margaritas, this time scraping ice from the bottom of the ice machine. The mext morning my three colleagues and I all had stomache aches and we were all convinved it was from the crappy mexican place we ate at the night before. We later found out from someone in the area that the restaurant had been shut down because it didnt pass inspection due to the fact that they were using a dirty fryer. I would give this place zero stars if it were possible. read more

they kept the chips and salsa coming.... the salsa was pretty good. the food: I got a pork burrito like i do at every mexican place. i will say this keokuk is a small town, and we got off work late and headed over at around 9 p.m. probably when they were closing up. with that said... my burrito was small which is fine I'm trying to watch what i eat, but the flavor was horrible, soury bitter pork. It was the WORST food I've ever had. I didn't even finish the thing the next day it made me sicker than a dog.... bottom line: the only Mexican food in the area, but it's poison beware! read more

My husband and I ate there on Saturday, March 7, 2015. To begin, the service was very good, the complementary chips and salsa before the meal were delicious - the salsa fresh and cold, the chips warm and crisp. I had a burro verde with pork and it was very good - the pork was moist and tender and the accompanying veggies were cooked to just the right consistency. The rice was delicious. My husband had taquitos tapatios with rice and beans as a side. The taquitos were also excellent and my husband loved the side of beans. This was a very pleasant experience for us. The food was hot when it arrived at our table fairly quickly after we ordered and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. I will eat there again any time we are in Keokuk and hope other people do as well. One more thing - the prices were not expensive, rather moderate. Our meal, which was a dinner meal, cost only around $20 with two soft drinks. We were very pleased with the overall experience. read more
