From the moment you meet him it becomes abundantly clear Mike is a good man... courteous, prompt, thorough and knows all the right questions to ask to help determine the type and level of coaching you need. From the moment you set foot on the range and before he puts a gun in your hands he is a fountain of info, safety instructions and gun history. Once it is time to shoot he diligently explains the very many aspects of proper skeet shooting. The lesson lasted an hour and a half and is a bargain at any price. I missed all 6 clays on my first attempt and was feeling a little insecure. But not for long... Mike made a few coaching suggestions and before you know it I was knocking them down. Perfect Experience from start to Finish! I am a extremely inexperienced shooter and after a handful of games of skeet realized I needed lessons! Mike was unbelievably professional, knowledgeable, fun, and patient. His teaching methods were simple to understand and shockingly effective. So today my group met with Mike - I have good experience at ranges and am an R.S.O. but very limited experience with shotguns. Having seen a wide variety of jerks and people with egos I didn't know what to expect but was paying attention to everything. I was very impressed. Instruction on mechanics was spot on - preliminary training as well as correction during shooting sessions was spot on. Not once did he act like he was the king of the west - he was entirely professional at all times and also able to explain things to beginners. His feedback was individualized for each shooter and done in a way that didn't shame shooters. I really can't say enough about him. Other positives - he provides guns and ammo - this is HUGE - many expect you to bring your own guns but this is a barrier to entry - Mike broke that barrier down. read more

Mike Marelli runs separate lessons at the Long Island Gun Range and is without a doubt the nicest and most competent instructor I've ever had. My dad surprised me with skeet shooting lessons this past weekend, and even though I've shot before, Mike was nothing short of spectacular. Wow! That was educational and fun. Never touched a shotgun before. The education on home defense, arms, ammo and safety was thorough. The shooting was great fun. We did stationary targets which with Mike's guidance I was pretty good at. Then came the flying clay. Took a few shots and hit nothing. Mike was analyzing my form and told me what to do and change and wow, I was hitting them. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, personable, friendly and patient, the perfect mix for an instructor. I've had some experience with rifles but I wanted to become more familiar with using a shotgun to shoot clay so I reached out to Mike for a private lesson. My husband, my teen daughter, my tween son and I had a first time lesson here with Mike Marelli. None of us had ever shot before.
