Would highly recommend Mike. His patience, great attitude and knowledge of firearms really make the learning process fun.

Amazing and knowledgeable person who has worked with my daughter twice and he's simply amazing! Really appreciate his teaching my daughter gun safety first and foremost. She's becoming a heck of a shot thanks to Gary!

Before we even started, Mike assessed which eye was dominant (something I had never known before) and explained why that mattered. Even though I'm a "lefty" when it comes to writing, he let me choose which side felt right to shoot from. I realized I do a lot of things like a "righty" anyway, so I trusted his advice and went with my right, and it worked out perfectly. Mike came fully prepared with everything: extra eye protection (I had lost my sunglasses somewhere in my car ), ear plugs, multiple guns suited to different comfort levels, and even a shoulder pad. I'd gone shooting once back in college and remembered it being fun but painful. This time? Zero pain, just pure fun What stood out most to me was how knowledgeable and passionate Mike is. This clearly isn't just a job for him, it's something he genuinely loves and takes pride in sharing. I only signed up for the lesson to try something new, not expecting to fall in love with shooting or want to return. But by the end, I absolutely wanted to come back (and hope to when I can afford it again!). I also really appreciated Mike's character. When I mentioned hunting, he explained that he shoots for sport, not to harm animals, and even told me he feeds local deer and rescues animals. That says a lot about who he is. The actual shooting lesson was such a cool progression. I started with orange disks on the ground, then moved to two at a time, then to flying targets launched from small machines on the ground and towers. By the end, I was hitting pairs -- first one flying straight back, then another soaring high into the sky. Each step came with clear guidance before each shot, encouragement afterward, and tips to improve or stay consistent. What really made the experience special was Mike's energy. Every time I hit a target, he got just as excited as I did. When I started missing a tougher one, he kept saying, "Trust me, I know you're going to get it." His confidence in me built my confidence, and that encouragement pushed me not to settle for "fun defeat" but to actually improve and excel. I even walked away with some transferable life lessons about committing to goals, applying feedback, following through, focusing, and staying self-aware. All in all, I can't recommend this experience enough. If you've ever thought about trying shooting, or just want to learn something new with a patient, passionate, and encouraging instructor, Mike Marelli is the one to learn from.

Went to this range for the first time last month and had a really enjoyable time. The person behind…read morethe counter (had a gray beard!!) was very courteous and helpful, even handing me a pair of earmuffs (no charge-which I forgot to bring along). Range price was very reasonable. He politely answered my questions and did not attempt to sell me any materials for my range time. The range was staffed by another really nice person named Anthony, who is the range attendant. He showed me my booth and gave me some cardboard to put my targets on. The return mechanism wasn't working steadily and he eagerly came over to fix it several times, even though I thought it might be annoying for him to do. When I started to clean up my shell casings, he came over and said not to worry, that he would take care of it. Nice as they come! Back in the gun store, I took some time to look at what they had and was interested in a nice .22 rifle and the staffer was very helpful and showed me the gun and one other. He and I talked a bit and I thanked him and left. I will probably buy it soon. All in all, after reading the above bad reviews, I don't feel this is the norm as I've been to several other gun stores and had pleasant experiences...maybe they've wisely realized that kind of attitude doesn't help their business?! Benson's, who is the owner of this store is also a great place to shop and buy guns. They even had a nice Stoeger Air Rifle I had been thinking about buying and I did after they showed it to me. My son-in-law also uses this range and likes it very much. We are planning to go more together. Since the other review was made in 2009, I'm glad I took the time to check it out myself and hope this review helps anyone who was put off by the other reviews from five plus years ago.

I thought "how can you shoot in such a tiny building?" When you walk in you see it goes straight down to a bigger area and then it makes scenes. You also see that there are to guess there, with personalities bigger then life. I understand how you can think that the owner, Charle, could come off as harsh. He's actually a really cool guy. I went and explained to him that I wanted to shoot and he asked for my gun permit. I told him I didn't have one and he replied I needed one to fire a hand gun. Charle then took the time to explain what steps I need to obtain a permit and what the questions are like. He even gave me a time frame about how long that will take. He allowed my to hold a rifle while I posed for my "Walking dead" closeup and I was on my way. I will get my permit. It will be exciting to shoot a hand gun. Also if zombies do start to roam the Earth I will increase my rate of survival with this necessary training.
