I like the range. Staff are friendly and range is clean. I did head down today as the hours on Yelp state they are open until 7pm. When I arrived at 4:40 the hours have changed with painters tape and new close times. Please update this on Yelp. I drove from Port Jefferson only to find out the place was closing in 20 minutes when I arrived. I didn't go in as all ranges I have gone to in the past only assign a lane if you arrive at leaast an hour prior to their close time. read more

I love this place. It's easy, inexpensive, clean, well-ventilated, and as has been said, full of characters! If you find expressive, rough-around-the-edges gun guys too much for you, this might not be the place for you. But considering that a lot of other places in the area are way worse, it also might be. The guys there can be a little intimidating, but they're really teddy bears. Go in with an adventurous attitude (I mean, shouldn't you be already? It's a shooting range!) and you'll be fine! They have plenty of lanes that go out to about 25 yards. Their equipment is dated, but well-maintained. I credit this place for turning me onto the stress-busting joy that is the Ruger PC9! I had previously been shooting with a 10/22 and was ready to move up to something with a little more bang-bang. Thanks again, Charlie! I'm now signed up with a 6-month pass. read more

No .223. No .308. Pistol calibers only. It's crazy because their gun shop on 25 (which is a great shop) sells lots of ARs. Every other range on the island allows .223 and .308 caliber. I guess they figure you'll go to Ridge to practice with your AR. That's not a bad range just it's outside. If you want to practice with your AR, go to DSI or one of the outdoor ranges further east. Also their attitude is crap. DSI may be elitist, but they aren't jerks. Ridge might be staffed by grumpy old men, but again they aren't jerks. Honestly, with how restrictive pistol laws are in NY, I don't know how a place like this stays in business. read more

I called to get detailed info before arriving with my family that consisted of 7ppl. I spoke w/Tony who advised me to walk-in and not make a reservation. He was informative and kind. I told him that my family and I would arrive at the spoken time. He said that wasn't an issue. When we arrived Tony was not there (apparently his day off) , so I spoke w/Charlie. He was rude, discourteous, crude, and unmannerly. He said that the schedule was booked and had been for some time with another group and I should have made reservations. I told him of my conversation with Tony and he remained unprofessional. He shrugged his shoulders in a " I don't care" manner. Needless to say, my family and I left and would not recommend this place due to the person with whom we dealt with who seemed to have the lowest form of manners and professionalism. read more

I walked in nervous, didn't know what to expect, never used a gun before, these guys were friendly, and awesome. I was so nervous didn't even ask anyone's name but plan to do it the second time I go. Very friendly staff and after about an hour I was quite excited as the adrenaline was at its highest shooting a .22 caliber rifle. Holy second amendment!! I've been coming to Medford Shooting Range for years. I started out an absolute beginner to firearms, and learned much of what I know now from there. Charlie is the man! He is extremely knowledgeable and helpful to everyone. Be warned, he's also got a sense of humor that'll keep you on your toes, but it's all in good fun. Being honest, it's the staff and Charlie in particular that has kept me coming back all these years. The range has been upgraded in recent times and some much needed renovations were made. The price of this place is affordable as well. It's a great local range and one that I hope will be around for years to come. read more

We went here for the Basic Rifle Class. I brought my 2 sons for the class. The instructor Charlie was great. Very professional and was very thorough in terms of safety. He went over everything I had hoped for. It was a 3 hour class. I would recommend to all for a basic rifle class and especially those with children. After the instruction time, my sons were able to fire off well over a hundred rounds each. Charlie went through technique and all the steps necessary to be successful in using a firearm. Yesterday Medford Range reopened after renovations Charlie,Anthony and the Crew did an awesome job the range has had a face lift added all new lighting fresh paint new steel backing allowing for 223 to be shot new range ceiling tiles new carpet, to many upgrades to mention here great place to shoot great crew. Memberships are available at a reasonable price as well as ammo and lots of choices for targets. You can rent hand guns or long guns. I love shooting here and so will you. read more

Today was the first time that my sister, boyfriend, and I decided to shoot guns. We were a little nervous going in but the people here made us feel so comfortable. Chris in particular really went above and beyond. He not only showed us how to hold and shoot the guns but also helped us with loading the guns and positioning. Great experience. I come here at least twice a week, and its a pretty long commute from West Islip. Medford offers great hours (Until 9pm most days) The air filtration system has been entirely updated and the lighting has been redone. Overall a great place to shoot. I prefer it over an outdoor range anyway, especially when its 20 degrees outside. read more
