From the ladies who got me in for an emergency, to the optical assistant Shardae (probably butchered her name) and Dr E was amazing!

All of the staff was so kind, patient and helpful throughout the whole process. Dr. Stacie was amazing and she really took her time when working with my daughter. If you have a medical concern with your eye other than glasses or general vision then I WOULD NOT…read morerecommend Prosper Family Eyecare. I visited Prosper Family Eyecare as a walk in for medical care for my left eye and learned a valuable lesson. There is a BIG difference between an Optometrist and an Ophthalmologist. An optometrist IS NOT A MEDICAL DOCTOR and is not qualified to assess anything other than sight testing and management of general vision changes. If you are in need of glasses or general vision then this is what an optometrist is qualified to assist you with. However, if you are in need of medical attention for your eye then you need to see an ophthalmologist (a medical doctor) with experience diagnosing and treating eye and vision conditions. What is disappointing is that Prosper Family Eye care accepts walk-ins to treat issues beyond the scope of what they are qualified to access as there are no medical doctors (Ophthalmologist) at this facility i.e. they are Optometrist. I called and set an appointment to go in due to having serious discomfort in my left eye, bloodshot, increased sensitivity to light, poor vision. This office does not bill insurance so the out of pocket is $155. I came in for a foreign object or debris in my eye yet during my visit my eye was not flushed out. Other than a general eye exam I was prescribed Tobramycin and sent on my way. During my visit, the affects and dangers of Tobramycin were not explained. There are serious complications of this medicine, blurred vision, blindness etc. This medication is to treat bacterial infections, it will do nothing for a viral infection and will only make it worse. It is imperative that a proper evaluation of the eye is done to be sure the infection is bacterial to prevent the eye from regressing further. What I find especially troubling is how an Optometrist (not a Medical Doctor) can prescribe this medication for a patient with a medical concern. Optometrist should not be prescribing this type of medication unless it is related to a patient experiencing an infection from a contact lens or something of that nature within their general scope of practice. Prescribing this medication to a patient with a medical concern unrelated to general vision issues is something only a Ophthalmologists (medical doctor) is truly qualified to do. Bottomline, if you have a medical issue with your eye that is unrelated to wearing glasses or contact lenses then spend your money to go see an actual M.D., an Ophthalmologist. Even Proper Family Eyecare won't refute this, as after they took my $155 and failed to treat me properly they simply referred me to an Ophthalmologist so I could get proper treatment. #LessonLearned

Extremely Disappointed with Melissa Eye Associates - A Cautionary Experience…read more I had a very frustrating and disappointing experience at Melissa Eye Associates, particularly with Dr. Campbell and the front desk staff. My prescription is +0.50, but Dr. Campbell increased it to +0.75 so it would be approved by insurance. This felt dishonest and unnecessary. The doctor handed the prescription to the front desk and explained it using technical terms I didn't fully understand. I expected the front desk to help clarify, but they failed to provide proper guidance. I asked if the glasses could be worn outdoors as sunglasses. The front desk recommended paying an additional $70 for photochromic transition lenses. I agreed, selected a frame suitable for outdoor use, and paid the extra amount. When I received the glasses a couple of weeks later and wore them while driving, they hurt my eyes and made it difficult to read street signs. I returned to the office and was told the glasses were only for short-distance use and not suitable for outdoors--despite the transition lenses. They then asked for another $60+ to make them "compatible" for outdoor use, which was never explained clearly. I tried the glasses at home in front of a computer, and they still caused discomfort. I returned again and requested to see the doctor. After waiting 45 minutes while others were seen ahead of me, I was finally seen by Dr. Campbell. She confirmed my prescription should have been +0.50 all along and acknowledged the front desk's poor guidance. She assured me I could be reimbursed for the transition lenses and choose a new frame. However, when I went to the front desk, they refused to reimburse the $70, claiming I should have known the glasses were for computer use only--even though I had spent time selecting frames and discussing transition options with them. When I asked them to confirm with Dr. Campbell, they returned and told me I was being blacklisted for requesting reimbursement. They handed me my prescription and told me to go elsewhere. To make matters worse, they said they would contact my insurance to deny any future claims and process the reimbursement without my input. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and empathy was shocking. This experience has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. I trusted this office with my eye care and was met with misinformation, poor service, and ultimately, disrespect. I strongly advise others to be cautious when considering Melissa Eye Associates.

I did get new glasses and when I went in to pick them up I was again rushed, no fitting at all, just a printed card they had me read to see if I could see ok. The eye glass techs were busy on their phones and I felt as though I was bothering them. The glasses did not seem any different than the ones I had as far as prescription strength. I did speak to the office manager after the fact and she did offer me a refund if I returned the glasses which I did. Fast forward to today, I called as I had sudden onset floaters in one eye which alarmed me. I was told no appointment availability this week and was referred to 2 other places, one that had terrible reviews and the other that told me all there docs were out of town for the week and had told other offices to not refer to them this week because of that. I know offices are busy but this was somewhat of an emergency and the ladies answering the phone could not be bothered. Happy to say I did find an office who saw me same day and they were wonderful. I will be taking my business and my family to that office from now on.
