Before the Woodlands had their Torchys or Velvet Taco, they had this place! I know it's technically in Magnolia, but I remember when they opened! It was the go-to spot for Sterling Ridge folks who wanted a less than authentic, alternative, but undoubtedly tasty taco. I say that to mean, they offered a mix of traditional and creative combinations, and a little something for everyone. They're still a quaint little fast casual with a few handfuls of high tops and tables. Maybe it's the limitation of the building plus the dark rustic decor, but the place feels dark or atleast felt dark on my most recent visit. They're now proudly displaying specialty drinks on their wall-teas, sodas, etc, which is nice, and certainly a unique way to pass time while waiting for your order. I waited quite awhile for an order of two tacos and queso only to drive home, open them up, and feel instantly deflated. I ordered queso, but I'm not sure if I received it. What I received had a gritty texture. Similar to a gritty bean dip? It was not enjoyable. I also ordered the following two tacos: El Vaquero and El Piccadillo. What I will say is, I'd be willing to pay street taco price for the tacos I received. The meat was fairly seasoned, I had some grissel, things were oily that didn't need to be, and a few ingredients felt less than fresh. My tacos were not labelled, one of the sauces had a questionable cap. I hope I just caught them on an off day, or made the wrong selections. They've been a part of the community for some time, perhaps it's for their breakfast tacos? I stopped in with my party for the first time since spotting the location on Christmas Eve. We walked in and were greeted by Gabby. As we looked over the menu, she waited, smiling patiently, to take our order. We ordered steak tacos, some queso and a quesadilla. Gabby brought over our food as soon as it was ready and asked if we needed any salsas. Loving spicy food, I requested some habanero sauce. It was so good! The steak was marinated beautifully in the tacos and the flavor really popped in the quesadilla. The queso contained cheese, guacamole, cilantro, queso fresco and a dab of habanero sauce. Delicious! The dining area was clean and spotless. Even the music they were playing was awesome! We will definitely be coming back and honestly would recommend this establishment to everyone! read more

We always order from here and typically have great experiences. This morning we ordered 10 tacos for some contractors doing work at our house and we were extremely disappointed. Bacon and chorizo tacos were amazing! Did not enjoy the jalapeño sausage as it had more of a Canadian bacon type of culinary experience. Tortillas were good, cheese was perfectly melted. Update to my review- we've now been back to Texas Taco several times. Consistency is key with a restaurant and they nail it every single time. Fabulous Food, Excellent price, Great Service and quick too. The only way it could be better is if they delivered to my house and if I could eat more! HA! Also for those of who are comparing Texas Taco to Torchy Taco, I do love torchy's however there is more flavor profiles in the Texas Taco than in Torchy, along with that the service is much better at Texas Taco too. Really delicious tacos! I got the Royal Flush and it was so tasty. My boyfriend got the beef quesadilla and he lived that it was thick and full of cheese and meat unlike a lot of other places. I stopped in a few days ago to purchase a gift card and was told "we don't do that." I find this absolutely ridiculous. I mean, welcome to 1982!!! I then explained the situation and asked if there was any way to purchase a meal as a gift and was offered a Christmas discount card where you get a free meal after you purchase several meals. 0 stars if I could. First off NEITHER employee there was wearing a mask or gloves, when they have signs up that say mask required. Ordered 2 tacos Togo, 1 with no pico. Walk in the building stand at the front for 30-45 sec with no employees around. Then a girl comes from around the corner and sees me and acts like she's seen a ghost. Doesn't greet me, but says "oh you scared me " ... nice. I get my food and leave a $2 tip making my 2 tacos $10 in total. I get home and open them to find the tiniest gas station lookin tacos I have ever seen. Tiny, greasy, and I open it up to find not only freezing cold pork, but also the pico that I asked them to leave off. I live less than 2 min away, literally the street behind lone star taco, and my food was completely cold and soggy. I quickly got back in my car and went back. (Still no one wearing a mask when I come Back) I ask for a refund, and the lady at the counter was super rude about it. I even apologized multiple times saying I'm sorry I just could t eat it, and she completely ignored everything i was saying to her. I got my refund and left to her yelling at cook lady ( who wasn't wearing a mask) that her food was cold. I won't be going back, food didn't look appetizing at all. read more
