Before the Woodlands had their Torchys or Velvet Taco, they had this place! I know it's technically in Magnolia, but I remember when they opened! It was the go-to spot for Sterling Ridge folks who wanted a less than authentic, alternative, but undoubtedly tasty taco. I say that to mean, they offered a mix of traditional and creative combinations, and a little something for everyone. They're still a quaint little fast casual with a few handfuls of high tops and tables. Maybe it's the limitation of the building plus the dark rustic decor, but the place feels dark or atleast felt dark on my most recent visit. They're now proudly displaying specialty drinks on their wall-teas, sodas, etc, which is nice, and certainly a unique way to pass time while waiting for your order. I waited quite awhile for an order of two tacos and queso only to drive home, open them up, and feel instantly deflated. I ordered queso, but I'm not sure if I received it. What I received had a gritty texture. Similar to a gritty bean dip? It was not enjoyable. I also ordered the following two tacos: El Vaquero and El Piccadillo. What I will say is, I'd be willing to pay street taco price for the tacos I received. The meat was fairly seasoned, I had some grissel, things were oily that didn't need to be, and a few ingredients felt less than fresh. My tacos were not labelled, one of the sauces had a questionable cap. I hope I just caught them on an off day, or made the wrong selections. They've been a part of the community for some time, perhaps it's for their breakfast tacos? To this day I wonder if my tacos were prepared incorrectly, or if I received a mix of someone else's items because this experience was...strange read more

Food, variety of flavor and creativity of various tacos is excellent I just can't keep coming here any more. Over time the portions have shrunk. Very disappointed in even basic tacos like the bacon egg and cheese, portions are like half they were and it's expensive. Not paying $3.35 for what ends up being a 1/2 taco No thanks read more

This is my go to taco spot!! You really can't go wrong with any of their tacos, but my fav at the moment El calabozo- it's fried avocado and black beans 10/10. If you like spicy ask for the habanero sauce. For breakfast I love the old Betsy! If you order togo check your order. They almost always get togo orders wrong. read more

I stopped in with my party for the first time since spotting the location on Christmas Eve. We walked in and were greeted by Gabby. As we looked over the menu, she waited, smiling patiently, to take our order. We ordered steak tacos, some queso and a quesadilla. Gabby brought over our food as soon as it was ready and asked if we needed any salsas. Loving spicy food, I requested some habanero sauce. It was so good! The steak was marinated beautifully in the tacos and the flavor really popped in the quesadilla. The queso contained cheese, guacamole, cilantro, queso fresco and a dab of habanero sauce. Delicious! We always order from here and typically have great experiences. This morning we ordered 10 tacos for some contractors doing work at our house and we were extremely disappointed. We ordered right when they opened and it tasted like these tacos were left over from yesterday. The eggs were a very weird texture and almost shriveled up. If you're looking for one of the best taco places in Magnolia this is your spot! Always go for the royal flush it has everything you want on it brisket potato egg and cheese! Most this time the staff is friendly... and they have a habanero sauce that is spicy just the way I like it! Definitely come here you won't be disappointed. It is a little bit pricey though. Bacon and chorizo tacos were amazing! Did not enjoy the jalapeño sausage as it had more of a Canadian bacon type of culinary experience. Tortillas were good, cheese was perfectly melted. The spicy salsa was AMAZING. One comment: at $3.50/taco they should up the egg content from 1 egg to 1.5 egg. Very little cost, but meaningful addition for customers. read more

Update to my review- we've now been back to Texas Taco several times. Consistency is key with a restaurant and they nail it every single time. Fabulous Food, Excellent price, Great Service and quick too. The only way it could be better is if they delivered to my house and if I could eat more! HA! Also for those of who are comparing Texas Taco to Torchy Taco, I do love torchy's however there is more flavor profiles in the Texas Taco than in Torchy, along with that the service is much better at Texas Taco too. Really delicious tacos! I got the Royal Flush and it was so tasty. My boyfriend got the beef quesadilla and he lived that it was thick and full of cheese and meat unlike a lot of other places. My child has a teacher that sent home a Christmas List for the kids to buy her gifts that she would like, and Lone Star Taco was on the list. I stopped in a few days ago to purchase a gift card and was told "we don't do that." I find this absolutely ridiculous. I mean, welcome to 1982!!! I then explained the situation and asked if there was any way to purchase a meal as a gift and was offered a Christmas discount card where you get a free meal after you purchase several meals. Please bring your store out of the stone ages. In my opinion the food is moderately whatever, the service is slooooooow, and the price is high. read more

If you're looking for commercialized, American, semi Tex Mex, tacos this is your spot. Portions are large for tacos, particularly the breakfast tacos being on the large side. Service is fast and one of the only quick spots on the weekend mornings to get tacos. read more

Not a fan. Stopped in for late lunch and ordered the fire roasted queso and El Dorado taco. The queso is either not my style or just not very good. The taco really had no flavor. The texture of the chicken was a strange mix to be in a soft taco. As for the service, it was fast and friendly. This place is located in a grocery store strip center, so very casual. read more

0 stars if I could. First off NEITHER employee there was wearing a mask or gloves, when they have signs up that say mask required. Ordered 2 tacos Togo, 1 with no pico. Walk in the building stand at the front for 30-45 sec with no employees around. Then a girl comes from around the corner and sees me and acts like she's seen a ghost. Doesn't greet me, but says "oh you scared me " ... nice. I get my food and leave a $2 tip making my 2 tacos $10 in total. I get home and open them to find the tiniest gas station lookin tacos I have ever seen. Tiny, greasy, and I open it up to find not only freezing cold pork, but also the pico that I asked them to leave off. I live less than 2 min away, literally the street behind lone star taco, and my food was completely cold and soggy. I quickly got back in my car and went back. (Still no one wearing a mask when I come Back) I ask for a refund, and the lady at the counter was super rude about it. I even apologized multiple times saying I'm sorry I just could t eat it, and she completely ignored everything i was saying to her. I got my refund and left to her yelling at cook lady ( who wasn't wearing a mask) that her food was cold. I won't be going back, food didn't look appetizing at all. read more

It wasn't very busy when I went but it still took too long for a couple tacos. There was no sense of urgency on behalf of any of the staff as far as I saw anyway while waiting 20 minutes for two tacos. The cook had to look at a chart for every order he made so once he gets up to speed I'm sure it will be faster. That being said the tacos we had were top shelf. We went for breakfast and I had a trail driver. Fajita beef, cheese, scrambled egg, and Diablo sauce. This is not your typical street taco. It's stuffed with meat and it's a mess. In a good way. I put a little of the Orange sauce (habanero I believe) on the first bite. I did NOT put it on subsequent bites. It didn't need it. The Diablo sauce is perfect. I should have ordered two.... My mother in law had the outlaw migas taco. Again, this thing was stuffed to the max with eggs, pico, green chili's, avocado, tortilla strips, and cheese. $2.75. Gtfoh. We will be back to try the burritos for sure. read more

Margaritas were large, but using Grand Marnier (instead of Cointreau) made them a little sweet for my taste. My chicken was grilled but a little overcooked. Still, it was pretty good tasting. Hubby's Tacos al Carbon was delicious. Great marinade! Tip: If you like mole, but don't want enchiladas, just ask them to sub Mole for the sauce on any of the chicken plates. I had a side and it was delicious! If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. For the most part, it met my expectations, just a few things keep me from giving them 4. But - we will be back. :)

My parents ordered the large frozen house margherita and it was huge! The glass was close to a foot tall. I had the quesadilla with brisket. The meat almost melted in your mouth. Our server was great and had the entire wait staff come out to sing happy birthday for my sister. I noticed it has a 3 star rating. Granted the prices were high but the servings are large so keep that in mind.
