The entire process took about a month due to rainy weather. My entire yard was trashed for that month. His workers were messy and used my flower pots as a trash, my outdoor furniture wasn't moved aside for projects and was covered with dust and dirt. They left their lunch in opened trash bags for my dogs to discover. My side trees were cut down 6ft without consultation and some of the cuts were not clean, but ripped off. I was constantly picking up screws, nails, paint chips and somehow they got paint in the dogs water bowl. Sloppy work, they dripped white paint on a black rug, and got paint on my back windows. They removed a piece of outside wood exposing the attic and did not cover it up until days later, after I had to notice it and call Bob. I'm not sure if this was a new crew or what, but there was no "care" taken in their work. I constantly had to call Bob for these problems, which was pretty lame because that was why I was paying him. Overall the repairs I needed done were done but I will not use this company for future house projects.

Over the past few weeks, they've demonstrated exceptional flexibility and insight, offering recommendations that were both practical and innovative. Choosing a construction company can be overwhelming, but the Right Brothers stood out to me for their honesty, professionalism, and authenticity. Our experience with Load Bearing Walls was not a positive one…read more While the crew and staff were consistently courteous and cleaned up after themselves - which is why the company is receiving two stars - LBW was going to complete work that was obviously unnecessary once our garage trim was removed. The customer should not need to pull the lead and press for answers about whether a 40 year old header needs to be replaced if trade can see that the header is fine. See photo. Contractors and trade should be honest from the start, beginning with the initial estimate. Other red flags (in retrospect) worth mentioning that are consistent with other recent reviews: -The employee who provided an estimate showed up over an hour before the scheduled time, examined our garage framing from only the outside, and did not return to finish the estimate an hour later as promised. -LBW scheduled our job a week later than initially agreed. -The lead asked open ended questions about the scope of the job upon arrival at the job, making it unclear whether he knew what work needed to be completed. As pleasant as the lead and office administrator were, it feels like we were hustled. If you engage with LBW, make sure you need the work!

At 65 years old, this is only the second review of a business I've ever written but I feel like I…read morehave been so taken advantage of or mislead that I had to write. This is a pretty long review so if you'd prefer to skip the details, here's my review in summary...it's like the old joke about the guy that's offered a great deal on a used car and when he goes to pick it up there are no tires on the car. When he questions the seller, the seller responds "Oh, I didn't know you wanted tires too". I asked for an estimate on removing the poles left from my tearing out the drywall on a couple of walls in our very small 1970's ranch-style home. After a Zoom consultation with Jason, I believe, he sent me a written estimate which I accepted and paid a 25% deposit. I'm not sure of his name because I never heard from or saw him again. Two weeks before the project's scheduled date someone else from LBW's came out to look over the project and told me that there was no way they could do the project for that price and so if I wanted them to do the "drywall patch" afterwards it would be another $3800. $3800. This was more than 50% of the total project. I asked what that entails and he explains that it was just covering the 2 beams at the ceiling line with drywall putty. The way it was explained to me it seemed like a very insignificant thing as well as seeming to be way overpriced for the amount of work he described it would involve; so I said "Well geez then I'll just have to do that myself or something." This had been scheduled for weeks and now at the 9th hour they're wanting another $4000 from me when the whole project was only $6500 to start with! I got my written estimate out to show him and the way the estimate reads there were 3 categories...the first category described part of the project and the extended amount was $0. The second category described a bigger part of the project and the extended amount was $6500. The third referred to "tape and bed" and the extended amount was $0. The bottom line or total was therefore $6500 which I assumed included everything in the estimate. This was the first I'd heard of anything costing "extra". He didn't comment or say anything else and just made a note on his paper. After he left I really felt like I had been part of a "bait & switch" deal or something. The same person came out again several days before the project was to start and we went over the same details. I asked again about the drywall and he again explained it to me like it was just covering "the slit in the ceiling we have to make in order to raise the beam into place." Again he made it seem like almost an afterthought or that I would just have to throw a little drywall putty up there along a slit line just to cover the edge of the new beam. There was no warning or concern I didn't understand the extent of what we were discussing or anything. I asked it he would be there just to make sure and he said he would. And just like I initially thought the estimate included everything necessary to do the job I now also thought I knew what to expect at the completion of the project. The day of the job about 8 men showed up but he wasn't one of them. Like the estimator I never saw the second guy again either. Only 1 of the 8 men spoke even the slightest English and I mean the type of non-speaking English person that responds to you basically with just a blank stare when asked something. At 5pm they were finished and the pictures show how my house looked at completion (except it DOESN"T show how there were also about 10 bundles of electricity/outlets/switches left hanging from the ceiling and laying on the floor where my two dogs were discovering something new for potential chewing...SO I asked a nice neighbor and he came over and tacked them up into the ceiling for safety until I could get someone out to fix them. Of course I'm not prepared and now have to find someone to do all this work and in the meantime live only in our bedroom as the temperature in the house is the same as it is outside. In late June in Texas. Our house is very small. I had started trying to update our 50 year old house myself a couple of years ago to save money however my husband then got very very ill and after being hospitalized for weeks and going through several life-threatening surguries he returned to work only to be let go. So we are now completing the project I started two years ago simply because we cannot afford our house anymore and in order to sell it must have the ceiling fixed. My husband is 70 and is in poor health. $6500 is ALOT of money for us right now and now I guess we have to come up with a lot more. I just feel extremely let down and stupid. I wish someone had explained the project to me more clearly or had given me an estimate that included not leaving our entire ceiling open. If anyone knows anyone who does this kind of work for a reasonable fee at this point pls let me know...mcintoshmail2012@gmail.com

I found Epik on yelp while searching for a general contractor to renovate our kitchen, remove a load bearing wall separating the kitchen from the living room and to update our original brick fireplace. Epik was our second estimate that we had received out of a total of four different companies. What really separated Epik from the others was how thorough Monty, the project manager, was throughout just the introduction phase. He followed up with us daily sending updated plans based on our conversations, sent over other pictures of different materials we could choose from, etc. This was BEFORE we even signed a contract. We gave Monty our budget and he stuck with it and let us know if we were choosing options that were not originally within the estimate and provided us with the updated estimate when we chose to continue. We met Shawn and Brittney, the owners of the company shortly after demo. Brittney from that part on became a vital part of our renovation ensuring all work was up to their high expectations and always communicating with us and identifying if any mistakes were made within the crew's work and corrected any issues thoroughly. We began our renovations shortly after construction was considered an essential job during COVID in May. Of course with the expected delays from COVID and just when doing any renovation it took some time longer than expected but the results were 100% worth it with the completion being end of June. Monty ensured that after every days work the crew cleaned up and vacuumed so we were not living in a huge dust trap. As you can see I can go on and on about the amazing job Epik performed. I am attaching pictures of before, during, and after our reno. I WITHOUT A DOUBT HIGHLY RECOMMEND EPIK. Shout outs to Monty, Brittney, Karen, and the entire crew on making our vision come to life.

Homeowner observations: Breach of contract by contractor (see list of contract violations at bottom of review). Contractor took customer money up front, did not deliver major items, abandoned the job, and did not refund the customer's money. Contractor demolished bathrooms, did not complete the work, left bathrooms in a non-functioning state of utter disrepair. Homeowner repeatedly requested that the contractor complete the job - contractor refused to complete the job. Contractor's work quality was extremely poor. Contractor's workmanship was sub-standard. Contractor failed to perform work that complied with standards as specified in the written contract. Contractor displayed poor project management skills (contractor relied on homeowner to report issues rather than understand issues by inspecting the job site and talking with subcontractors himself). Project manager visited on the project on day 1 - demolition day. Project manager never visited the job site again. Contractor displayed poor communication with homeowner and with subcontractors. Contractor displayed generally unprofessional conduct. Contractor's words often did not match his actions. Contractor did not comply with contract terms - multiple breaches of contract. Project completion delayed far beyond any reasonable timeframe. Contractor abandoned the job (the project). Contractor made the project a low priority (did not put all hands on deck as project dragged on far past the contract completion due date). Contractor sent fraudulent invoices and backdated fraudulent invoices. Contractor did not comply with written contract terms - multiple contract violations (see below). Written contract specified project completion in 3 weeks from starting demolition. Contractor abandoned project at week 10. Contractor provided no schedule for completion. Homeowner had to live in a construction zone for the duration of the project without access to toilets and shower. Project completion delays caused hardships on customer. Customer did not cause project delays. Homeowner did not change the project specifications - homeowner stuck with the contract specifications (made no changes to materials selections and made no changes to contract deliverables). Homeowner made home available for project work by contractor and subcontractors. Homeowner submitted required payments in timely manner (per milestones as specified in the contract). Project metrics: Project completion deadline (Days to complete project per contract: 21 (3 weeks). Percent of work completed by the date of contract completion deadline (3 week deadline): 11% 34 days (more than one month) without functioning master bath toilet. 12 days without functioning guest bathroom toilet. 105 consecutive days (15 weeks) without a functioning master bath shower. Breach of contract - multiple contract violations: Contractor abandoned project at 10 weeks. Contractor did not deliver or install glass shower enclosure, did not deliver/install plumbing fixtures (2 sink faucets/drains, shower head, shower control valve, tub faucet/drain). Contractor did not complete tile/grout work. Contractor left bathrooms completely non-functional. Homeowner had to complete the project using other companies. Extreme poor workmanship with numerous severe defects that contractor never repaired. Contract specified "all plumbing to be performed by a licensed master plumber". Contractor violated this specification five (5) times by using a non-plumber (with no license) to perform plumbing work, resulting in two water leaks onto flooring. Contractor installed shower drain higher than shower floor tile resulting in a large puddle that never drains. Contract specified that contractor "remove trash daily". Contractor violated trash pickup multiple times, the longest of which was trash on site for more than one week. Homeowner dealt with co-owner Tim Lasater. Don't use this contractor.
