Richard also had the young man who worked on this latest project go the extra mile, touching up some paint without us asking, and adding new silicone sealant in the bath, and being very mindful that the grout in the tile work matched what was already there. He seemed like a decent person, but was unable to resolve the issue that day. He left for several hours to pick up materials at a store west of the Beltway. He was unable to get the unit up and running that day but billed me on the spot for $700 of services. Ugh. I felt really let down but he promised he would return in a few days to finish the work (with the help of his son). Sadly, when I reached him by phone several days later (I had hoped he would call me promptly to schedule a follow up trip but he did not) he told me he had to have surgery and would be unavailable for some time. I have not heard back from him (it is mid January 2022 now). I ended up hiring another firm that had no issues repairing the gas fireplace, and even suggested a few improvements. Their final bill was less than $400. I don't often feel like I was misled, but in this case, it feels like I was. I hope this is helpful to others.
