I have a 71 Midget that had a number of problems, all of which I thought would be hard or at least very expensive to solve - leaking fuel tank, mushy brakes, horn didn't work, etc. And I wanted the wheels and tires replaced. Was easy to schedule an appointment and I was amazed at their quick diagnosis and correction for every problem and they did a stunning job on the new wheels and tires (gave me great advice on what to get as replacements for the junk that was on the car). And the cost was very reasonable. I am VERY pleased with the car now. Drove it for over an hour last evening (used a whole gallon and half of gas!) and everything works great w/ NO leaking gas tank. Really friendly and engaging folks who obviously know their stuff. Plan to use them regularly in the future. You can tell by the number of various antique (are fairly rare) cars parked there that they are in high demand. read more

London Auto has a fantastic reputation and many great ratings, so I wanted to bring my problematic XK8 to their shop, primarily for some shifter repairs and multiple engine trouble codes. First, the good news, at the end of it all, they did a good job of addressing my primary problem, made a very good repair and diagnosis to the shifter, and diagnosed and fixed most of the trouble codes with a new battery, so I was happy about that. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed by my overall experience. The shop had the car for over 5 weeks. Not once during the entire time did I receive any communication from the shop, unless I initiated it via email or a phone call. Each week, I had to call the shop to ask for some updates; progress was extremely slow. This, after I provided a well-written printed-out document with my contact info and a detailed explanation of my issues with the car and a list of tasks I'd like to have tackled. My list was promptly ignored and my cell phone number was incorrectly written down in their files. Of course, they had my correct work number, which they did not employ after many times of them telling me "we've been trying to get a hold of you," after they call that exact work number after I send them emails about how come they don't ever contact me, and the number works just fine. Although they eventually tackled the primary issues with the car, it was after me calling them each week trying to get some type of progress report and trying to get them to actually work on the car. Later in the process, they were highly distracted by trying to fix a more minor issue, while ignoring one of the primary shifter issues, which was the main reason the car was in the shop. The other, more minor tasks I had written on the form were ignored and never even brought up by the shop. I didn't bring them up later, because I knew it would take another 5 weeks at the rate they were going. When I picked the car up, I found that the third brake light cover was unattached from the base, the driver's side door panel was loose and had a few broken clips, and the emergency triangle kit that is trunk-lid mounted had come off of the trunk lid, because they slammed the trunk lid too hard. In addition, a broken piece of this kit (it was already broken) found its way into the wheel stowage well, which could only mean they had this well open and saw this come off, but made no attempt to collect the broken piece, nor try to re-install the kit on the trunk lid. The rest of the kit was on the trunk floor, on top of the closed stowage panel. In addition, I had removed the console for easy access to the shifter for the shop to work on. Although I did not specifically mention to put the console back together, since I just assumed they would re-install it, it was just left off. You would think they would put this back together or ask, "would you like your console put back on?" before I took delivery. Most disappointingly, the day after I originally wrote this, I noticed a few very large stone chips in the front of the car that were not there when I dropped it off over a month earlier. It looks like they must have test driven the car on a gravel road at high speed. I changed my rating to 1-star because of this. This is significant damage to the paint. I understand things can happen, break, go loose, but there is no excuse for the condition I found my car upon pick-up, regardless. You would think they would at least mention the broken door panel, brake light housing, console, and triangle kit, but they just ignored all of these items and delivered the car to me with these things in various states of disrepair, which shows to me a lack of attention to detail and a complete indifference about general care of my care while it was in their possession, minus the repairs that were made. Where did they drive this car that they picked up these large stone chips and caused significant damage to the paint? I am completely disappointed by my experience; I would not recommend this shop if this is how they treat their customers' cars. read more

These folks took great care of my Triumph roadster, identifying everything mechanical that needed to be done, and even getting an paint job estimate for me from another shop when I mentioned some problem areas. Detailed explanation of the work, suggestions for additive, off-season storage, etc. This was an extensive, and expensive, job, including a carburetor rebuild, but well worth it, and I feel very confident about the car's roadworthiness now. I will just add that, as a female car owner, I was treated just like any vintage British car fan, respected and not talked down to in any way. read more

Unfortunately I just had a very bad experience with London Auto Services. I have a1985 Jaguar XJ6 and we asked London Services to get it ready for DC inspection and to pay particular attention to the electrical system. They replaced the battery and put in new brakes and we picked it up on a Friday and had trouble driving home. It would not keep going on Lee Highway so I pulled into a gas station and filled both tanks as they were both reading empty. Car would not start. A mechanic there brought over a portable battery charger and got it going. Another couple of miles, constantly revving to keep it alive at each stop light or traffic slowdown and it stopped on the highway after successfully negotiating a Stop light and a turn with more revving. Gas station there (luckily) also able to restart with battery charger. Made it home. Each stop we called London to see what they thought it could be and they suggested something with the fuel system, a new problem they did not look at because whenever they drove it or moved it around lot it started fine and ran fine. Each stop someone was coming to help us and because we got it home we didn't call them back. We thought we'd have triple AAA tow it over the next week day. On the weekend, we went to Parker's Exxon, our local station, to get more gas since one gauge still read empty, and to see if it could make this 1/2 mike drive. It started fine but wouldn't restart after getting gas and we left it there.This local garage did a lot of work on it two years before, when we first got the car. This time, when work week started, they found an electrical problem, system not charging and a long crack in the back of the alternator allowing water to get in. (It had rained on weekend And week before when it was at London.) Also appears to be a fuel relay problem. Parker's is now waiting for parts and will work on it. I called back London to ask why they didn't notice crack in alternator or had not identified fuel problem. They basically took no responsibility whatever for discharging the car to us in that condition, where we couldn't even drive it about 5 miles to our home. Because electrical system was charging and it ran well for them and they "cannot predict the future." I am disappointed because London was recommended to us by members of the local Jaguar Club and it is so highly rated. In about 50 years of car ownership I have never had a repair place show so little interest in making it right or even concern about how we could get our car home when we called them from the road twice. I recall I had another car that would only start cold not warm and according to Parker's Exxon that is often a fuel relay problem. We'll see. and we'll be happy to have our electrical system working again. read more

This repair facility is the epitome of a great, old-fashioned garage where the mechanics, with generations of experience, can quickly evaluate and repair cars from a multitude of eras. A quick scan of their repair facility shows a variety of vehicles from before the 1950s through today's models. These guys know their way around all sorts of vehicles, including cars other garages wouldn't touch. I had them put in a rebuilt engine in my Triumph TR6 after another shop in the area killed my original engine (that's a whole different story) and to put in a custom Nissan differential kit. They were happy to accommodate and did great work even though they didn't do the rebuild themselves. I would definitely go back to them for bigger jobs I can't handle on my own. My only gripe is that they are not open on weekends even for drop offs/pick ups, so I had to take some time off work to get the car etc. read more

My father and I have been bringing our VWs and BMWs here for about 10 years and the service, expertise, character, and hospitality is unmatched. Nick has always been willing to take a look at my car last min. when I've been in a bind, needed a tune up or tire installed, or bigger fixes like oil leaks or CV joint replacements. Just yesterday I had my vehicle towed to the shop 30 min before closing and they spent time to check it out and kept it overnight to begin repairs/inspection first thing in the morning. They've accommodated by responding to texted photos of my BMW's dash warning lights and always follow up in a timely manner. I'm very happy. My son's MG Midget Mark IV has never run so well. No more dieseling or stalling or backfiring. Not smelly. Finally I'm enjoying the car. They are pricey, but money well spent. Very happy with their work. Although they specialize in British Classics they have been extremely helpful with my '75 Bronco. They replaced a steering box, and a fuse panel for me and have not hesitated to answer any questions I have when doing my own work on it. It is hard to find a garage you feel comfortable leaving a classic car with but these guys are top notch. Fair pricing and will tell you straight away whether something needs repaired/replaced or it does not. They will be my garage of choice from here on out! read more
