The Water Slides.

How can you enjoy hours of playing in the pool if you have 2 hours per day, and for $3.00 to get in. If you would like to learn how to swim, they can teach I guess pretty much everyone from a toddler to adult age. The bathrooms are not well-kept, you can see dirt on the floor that looks like it was not cleaned for days or maybe weeks. The bathroom stalls are not clean also. The floor is always slippery, I think it's the kind of tiles they used, liability to the city when something happens. Pooling of water on the floor is not good. I think the management is doing a good job. I don't see chaos each time I go there. I think the swimming instructors are doing a great job. I saw this kid today who's not listening to the teacher, and the dad was just watching this insubordination. Not cool. The teacher showed his patience and professionalism. Kudos to Patrick, he taught my kid many session times already. My kid became good in swimming in a short period of time. All I wish for is longer hours of swimming so the whole family can enjoy the water.

Literally the nicest thing in Lompoc. It's a clean and new facility with two lap swim areas, a baby pool/therapy pool, and a kids area with a jungle gym type thing. I love that one of the lap pools is warmer than the others. Sometimes I am just not ready to jump in the cold one!! It's nice to swim a few warm-warm up laps first :) They are a little bit stingy on hours. If they had more availability I know it'd be a hit with more people. Especially the military folks who work strange hours, and restaurant/bar guys too. You can enter the pool as a non-member during very very very select hours. Other than that you could join YMCA for pool access or purchase the monthly slash pass. Overall a great place and I love going there.

My entire family enjoys the "rec swim". Two hours is the perfect amount of time to swim, slide and play. It's 50% less than going to a movie and we're getting physical activity. My daughters and I attended a private birthday party for their friend. My younger daughter wasn't paying attention and walked into the deeper part of the pool where she couldn't keep her head above water. One of the life guards was quick to notice and jumped in, calmly helped my daughter back to the younger side of the pool. She was amazing because not only was the party uninterrupted, but my daughter stayed calm as well.

Fun with the family

We regularly attend in the summer time and love it here. They are only open for recreational swim…read morefor approx. 3 hours/day in the summer, however once you're there...3 hours seems about right. When we go, we usually go right at 12:30 and there is a huge line, but it moves very quickly. After the first 90 minutes, they have a mandatory break time where everyone has to get out of the pool for about 10-15 minutes. I'm not too sure why they do this, but i'm assuming to maybe let the filter clean it out or something? Anyways, this time is usually snack time for the kids, everyone usually sits on the grass over their towels and snacks while they wait. The fact that they let you bring in your own food is a huge plus too. It does tend to get really busy, so the pool can be crowded at times. It's really not that big of a problem though, there is a lot of space. The 1' area is very nice for toddlers and the slides are simple and cute. Children who are 5 and under HAVE to be in the pool with an adult and the adult has to be within arms reach. The pool is also heated, so it is not freezing cold. They are VERY strict on bathing suit attire, which i'm glad they are enforcing now, because before they weren't. If you are wearing cotton, they do not let you in. If you happen to sneak in without the proper clothing, one of the lifeguards will kindly ask you to get out. All the lifeguards are very attentive and you can tell that they are very well trained, and take their jobs seriously. I have never seen any of them goofing off or inattentive, their eyes are always on the pool. I have even seen a lifeguard save a small child one time. The little boy who was maybe 2 years, had gone too deep and was struggling in the water, but the people swimming around him didn't notice, and out of no where one of the lifeguards jumps in the pool and picks him up from under the 2.5' water. It all happened very, very fast and thanks to the quick action of the lifeguard, wasn't a serious incident. Last, but not least...this is the first year we enrolled in their swimming lessons and I am VERY happy with the instructors and how professional everyone is. My son is really learning a lot, the instructors all have great personalities and work very well with the kids. THE ONLY COMPLAINTS or things that could be better is the bigger waterslide in the 4' pool doesn't slide. The kids go down it and they have to push themselves out of it, because they don't "fall" into the water. I feel that is kind of dangerous, not to mention it makes it boring for anyone going down. The second thing is that I tried to enroll my 2nd child in swimming lessons, but all the classes for the level she needed were full. Since we couldn't get my #2 kid in, only my #1 kid goes. We are sitting at the side of the pool and I can see the class that I tried to enroll my #2 kid in, going on simultaneously, but out of the 6 people that filled the class...only 2 showed up and the rest are all no shows. I wish they would offer a wait list, so that if this happens the kids who actually want to attend can go. The swim classes fill up like a month in advance, so maybe they should consider adding more classes or doing a wait list option. Overall its a great facility and it only costs like $1.25 to get in, and they don't make you pay for non swimmers, so when I take my kids I only have to pay for whoever is actually getting in the pool, which is nice too.

I am wondering if the city of SLO is aware exactly how loud the music is that's played at this…read morepool. As I write this I'm in my home (I live across the creek on the opposite side of Southwood Drive) with all windows shut and very clearly hear it, from a distance of 300 ft. I mentioned the distance because the city's own noise ordinance states, in pertinent part: "Between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., it is a violation to make or allow noise that can be heard 50 feet from your property line." My residence is five times the distance spelled out in the ordinance. However, I walked back through my complex to see how far the noise was audible. I stood at the basketball court fence adjacent to my property - a distance of 500 ft, 10 times the distance in the city's ordinance - and the music is still audible. Now, I'm familiar with the concept of due diligence when looking for a new place to stay, and I did research this neighborhood before moving here. I was aware I would next to two parks, a school, and a baseball stadium. I have no problem with the noise from the ball games, school etc. as it's unavoidable but the pool music is not. Further, I couldn't have conceived of a scenario where I would regularly be subjected to loud music from a city ran facility, in violation of their own noise ordinance. Again, I'm giving the city the benefit of the doubt, in good faith, and assuming they're unaware of this. I feel a lot of it has to do with the placement of whatever speaker(s) the music is played over. Thus, a possible solution would be to arrange the speakers so they face away from the complexes on the other side of the street. They could still face the pool, and the hill/elementary chool on the other side of the pool would largely blunt the music from traveling to the residences on Augusta. I'm really hoping to hear back from someone with the city in regards to this.

My son is 7 and he had a wonderful time, tye dyed a shirt and played pickleball and tennis daily. He really enjoyed the endless fun in the pool with the counselors. The meals were good according to him, he chose the chicken tenders all week. They even walked to Avila Barn as a field trip through a private trail on the property. I felt very safe dropping him off and they did a great job in checking him in and out. There is a good mix of kids from different age groups which is nice. The facilities vibe is very much a resort-like environment. Definitely call and check them out if you wanna give your kids a variety of summer activities.

There are over a dozen tennis and pickleball courts, multiple saunas, a large lap pool with a hot tub as well as a smaller leisure pool with another hot tub. There is a wonderful outdoor patio on the second level which overlooks the courts and pools and has fire pits and lots of seating. Inside you will find a cardio room, weight room, and another lounge area with a pool table and a large seating area with a big fireplace. They offer a full service spa where you can get massages, facials, pedicures/manicures, and hair cuts. Added bonus - if you schedule one of those services you get a free day pass to use all of the amenities at the club without being a member. Really can't get over how remarkable this place is and can't wait to go back ASAP!
