The park was very clean and there were a lot of people coming and going in and out the park. They have a play structure for kids, large grassy areas and sitting area. Probably a lot more things as we didn't cover the whole park. There were animals like the owners with their dogs. There were restrooms. This was a very fancy park! A lot of socializing going on from groups hiking or taking walks to yoga and play dates! We luckily found a empty bench to sit on in the sun as it was pretty chilly. The dude and I had a lot fun here and it was a nice spot to eat our Cuban Valentines Day Special here. I would love to come back and explore more of the park. All 3000+ of us come and set up camp here for one day. There are large rolling hills, a pond, a pirate ship, and even a disc golf course! On a lovely June day we can all lay out in the grass and enjoy the sun. Last year we even had a giant slip n slide on one of the large rolling hills. It's a beautiful place to come visit every year.

My kids enjoyed the playground. There was nobody else there on a chilly winter afternoon so hard to say whether this playground gets crowded. The entire park is huge and spans over 100 acres! They have large and small dog areas, which are filled with part grass, and sand. My dogs really enjoyed the large fenced dog area and found another Aussie dog friend that they ran around with! The space is huge so there is a ton of space for plenty of dogs, playing catch and just overall for them to run around and not feel confined. There are basketball courts, baseball fields, and various grassy areas to host picnics or barbecues. There is a really nice walking path in this part of the park in which you can walk around the courts, fields and dog parks. There is also another area in the park which has additional walking paths and a really nice native garden. So glad I stumbled upon this park. I can't wait to take my dogs here again and also enjoy some walking!

For my California friends who have driven the 101 between LA and SF (or at least made a break for…read moreSLO from Pasadena), you probably have a vague recollection of seeing signs for Nipomo... but maybe can't remember quite where along the drive. ... and that's Ok, because Nipomo is more or less content to keep to itself. A small but tightly-knit community, heavily influenced by an agrarian history, this little town is just a skip off the highway, and close enough to Pismo and SLO that most folks don't think to stop there. But if you're in no particular hurry, and you're not looking for manicured nonsensical whimsy such that one might find in the nonpareil sections of Santa Barbara, then give this town a look. In addition to one of my favorite steakhouses (see my review for Jocko's in Nipomo), there are other little treasures to be found on quiet streets with backdrops of pasture and agriculture. On our most recent trip in April 2021, my family got a wild hair and we decided to take the drive up to Jocko's from our campsite at El Capitan for COVID-19 style takeout. Once our to-go containers were safely in my truck, we looked around for a place a little nicer than the gravel-covered parking lot of said steakhouse to enjoy our meals. Just a short drive away on the other side of the 101, we found this regional park. Somewhere in the midst of athletic fields, open spades of rolling hills, and a few playgrounds, we found a picnic area beneath century-old oak trees. There was something magical about eating our oak-grilled Spencer steaks and filet mignon cuts, huge baked potatoes with all the fixings, and a bunch of sides in that setting. The crisp, clean air, pushed by a sea breeze made the sunset sparkle through the trees as we supped. Yeah, I know... it's just a park. But for that short time, it was our family table, a celebration of being together with and for each other. That it is a peaceful and beautiful little spot off the beaten path made it that more special.
