Google AI overview of Lombard's Predatory Business model

If you require AAA roadside service make sure your ticket isn't assigned to Lombard Motors unless you want Lombard to do whatever work is needed on your car. Otherwise they will leave you stranded! This operator will accept your ticket to supposedly be towed to the service station or other location of your choice but when they arrive to pick up your car they try to strong arm you into taking your vehicle back to their service station. If you hold your ground and insist on your original location they will make some crazy excuse and take off without cancelling the ticket (which means you just used up one of your three allowed free tows per year). Sometimes they'll stare at your photo ID, AAA card and registration looking for an out (maybe you are still using your old AAA card, or the registration on your window is valid but you never changed the wallet card -- they will use either as an excuse to bail). Or if you have a VW or Audi or other non-standard car they'll claim they don't have the correct metric tool to tow you or jump you, or the right jack to change the tire (even though you have the one that came with the car) or that your lugs are rusty or whatever. And be super-rude about it. They also will accept a long distance towing job (state-to-state) with zero intention of going there. You will be told instead that they have to take your car to their garage to be stored overnight and that the trip will resume the next day (but the next day they pretend this wasn't the agreement). I live less than two blocks away from this place and AAA customer service keeps assigning me and my neighbors to Lombard by default, no matter how many times I and my neighbors we complain. Theoretically if you request road service by phone instead of using their automated system you can prevent this from happening by simply telling AAA customer service NOT to use Lombard. But if AAA is overbooked (as they nearly always are) they will give it to Lombard anyway. Note that Lombard's current rating at the Better Business Bureau is also one out of five stars, just like it is on Yelp! (see jpg). Would love to give this negative stars if I could. Looks like my experience is not unique where my car was illegally towed with no posted signage. The "no parking" sign was knocked down and put behind the business parking lot lobby desk. Coming from out of town, how if anyone supposed to know you are not allowed to park there. Tried to pick up the vehicle and was dealt with the pettiest 2 people I have ever had to deal with. In no world would they ever admit a single hint of fault. They were very obviously making things up as they went with excuses and refused to hear or see any type of photo evidence.

In the past 48 hours I went through hell and back ever since two days ago (March 15, 2024) my car broke down and I needed a tow to get myself from Ct to where I live in the Bronx. I drive a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme and it broke down on me on the side of the road nearby exit 9 on I-91. On that night I pulled off to the side and I had to let my car cool off since it was smoking due to the oil in the car leaking. Eventually I made it back to my girlfriend's house since that was my destination I took my time to get there because of the state of the vehicle. I decided the next day in the morning, (March 16, 2024), I will wake up early and call Triple A to get my car towed from my girlfriends house to my House located in the Bronx. Around 9:20 in the morning, I made the call to AAA and told them what had happened and explained to them coherently that I needed a flatbed and it was me and my brother that needed to ride with the driver to get back home. I spoke to a Lady named Sam and she said she notated all the details that I told her. She said in about an hour that I will receive a call and text message. In about 15-20 minutes I got a call from LOMBARD MOTORS saying that they'll be there to pick the car up. When the time came and the man was outside, I went out to greet him and already, the man had an attitude as I went to greet and shake his hand, he refused me. I knew off the bat I was going to get a terrible experience. He told me my brother could not come with me even tho I told the triple A lady it was me and someone else, but he refused to let my brother get on. I said okay fine let me just ride with this dude and get back home and I'll pay for a train ticket for my brother to come back. He hooked up my vehicle with a disgust face like he was mad at the world. I sat in the passenger seat with him and thought I was going to go back home. Boy oh boy I was wrong. The man stops at NELCON SERVICE CENTER and as I asked him why are you stopping here I need to go back to the Bronx. He disregarded me and with attitude told me he wasn't going to do it. Mind you I specifically notated to Triple A I need to go back to the Bronx as I AM A PREMIER MEMBER AND THE TRIP MET THE REQUIREMENTS as it was 70 MILES out of the 100 limit. With distain, The man refused to answer me and told me that his boss wanted him to drop my car off there which I found out was total Bullshit. It was because the man did not want to take that trip and gave the situation to NELCON. Now I'm 18 and this was my first experience dealing with Triple A and my car broke down and now Im being denied my services to be taken back home. I was confused and felt like as it rains it just pours, things kept getting worse and worse. Now as I found out, this asshole dropped my car off at NELCON which is ILLEGAL TO DO SO since he went on there private property and wasted one out of the four trips that I have with Triple A. (Now I have to call corporate tmmr to make sure they were not paid for that one trip and that one trip this asshole took with my car only for like 5 miles doesn't count on my record). Thankfully with the help of the lady (I forgot her name) and a gentleman that was there, they were just as confused and I was as to why my car was being dropped at the service center instead of it going back to my house. I explained to them what had happened and they told me normally they didn't do this but due to my situation they were going to help me out. It was like a breath of fresh air dealing with the NELCON staff it showed that they actually cared and wanted to help out. They went to call AAA on there end to let them get the job now to take me back and I didn't know this but the towing Industry is worse then high school with the drama when it comes to situations like this, since NELCON told me this wasn't the first time LOMBARD did this to them. AAA said that SAM the lady I was talking to put in the record to drop the vehicle off at NELCON which was complete utter bullshit since I don't even know where NELCON was. All in all NELCON was a life saver for me. LOMBARD I WILL PURSUE LEGAL ACTION, you ain't gonna play me like no sucker.

    My car they stole!!

I have never been treated so poorly, not only did they tow my car illegally, they made it so difficult to get back that I ended up losing everything inside as well as my car itself!! They were out to keep it from the beginning!! I'm heartbroken, my husband gave me this car one week before he passed away!! Terrible experience!!

Will Tow and rip you off

The man that came to me took well over an hour to get there due to (high demand) and when he arrived he didn't speak a single word to me. After failing to remove the flat he insisted the only option was to tow it to their shop. I said alright it is what it is and started walking over to the cab of his truck where he promptly stated that I'd have to find my own ride. Standing there in shock, he then literally slammed his door and left me on the side of the highway. I had no option but to take an Uber to their shop at 2am to grab my personal belongings, including my house keys! Absolutely ridiculous. Come the next day I tried to pick up my vehicle and they attempted to charge me $800 for the tow and services. Attached to the bill were "equipment fees" and "night rate" along with the price of a new tire at $400 before labor. I drive a 2014 Honda Accord. These tires go for a max of $200 a piece. Not to mention that he insisted I pay cash. I knew he was a joke after hearing that, I negotiated down to $600 and promptly left. Don't recommend to anyone. Complete scammers and i plan on filing a police report.

At this location, there was female hispanic/black employer who's a smoker that works at the front desk is scamming for money. You're not allowed to even take your personal belongings that was inside your totaled vehicle until you pay off your liability first, which is around $400?! That logic is ridiculous. She even insults me by calling me a "fatass". In all seriousness, should I consider calling the police and report this very suspicious business practice behavior and unreasonable, customer service?! It is beyond common sense and the misconduct of customer service from this female cannot be forgiven. It feels predatory and they only prioritize on profit and money over concerns of their victim customers who ended up in their tow garage location.

DO NOT Ever do business with McGill's no matter how much…read moreyou need your car or truck fixed simply don't do business with McGill's. I will explain why this may be a lengthy review. My girlfriend and me took our 2010 Infiniti FX 35 to McGill's to have them look at it and potentially get the issue fixed. So the issue we were having with the car was the windows all of them would not roll down the sunroof would not open. The car would not lock with the key fob or with the button on the door. The key light was on the dash. The combination switch for the directional signal when you put the directional single to go on right the wipers would come on. The headlights would come on and the rear wiper would go on. When you put that same handle to make the left signal work that works as it should. The windshield wipers handle works as it should however, the rear wiper did not work. So we took it to them at McGill's. They come back stating that it needed a combination switch. So $710 later that's $$569 and change for the part( combination switch) plus the diagnostic fee. So we were told that the part would arrive in 3 to 5 days. It was not there in 3 to 5 days and we were being generous and giving it five business days. The part did not come in on time. Allegedly, they told my girlfriend the part was on backorder, which is a bunch of crap. So however, the one mechanic that they have there who is a very nice guy he got the car to lock with the key fob and the button on the door like it's supposed to he got all of the windows to roll down in the sunroof to open and close. However, when we did pick up the car, the windows would not roll down when the car was running. He said that the car had to be just in the run position for the winter to go down he showed us and the windows would go down, but not while the car was actually running as in the motor. So a few days later, I decided to go with a drive-through I was willing to shut the car off and just put it in the run position to get the windows to go down to go through the drive-through well subconsciously I didn't do that and I happen to roll down the driver side window and all the windows went down while the car was running strange huh. So when they finally got the part in the combination switch with, they say the car needed we brought it to them. We brought it to them on July 22, 2025 at 9 o'clock in the morning. We were literally the first ones there so they had the car all morning afternoon and evening and guess what the car is not fixed why? So the mechanic put the new combination switch in and guess what the car is still doing the same exact thing That it was doing before the new combination switch was put in. I made the mechanical aware that the body control module was making noise. When I filled out the paperwork, I clearly stated that I wanted them to look at the body control module to refresh it and or possibly replace it When I wrote that how do you get that? The car needs a combination switch just because the one part of the combination which is going haywire. Then the mechanic says that the old combination was wet, but it wasn't wet with water or anything sticky it just had a very thin layer of an oily substance so did the garage put the oily substance on the old combination switch to make it look like it actually needed the new combination switch? So again we went there right before they closed and we were physically there watching the mechanic try to do his thing with his snap on tool scanner, and guess what the new part was installed and the car was doing just like I said above the same exact thing that I was doing with the old switch. They overcharged by 300+ dollars for that combination switch when one could've been found online a lot cheaper a lot cheaper. So will the car be able to be working again like it's supposed to because the mechanic did say that he could not get into the car computer? Well, why is that again like I said like I wanted them to look at the body control module that's what I feel is the actual problem is the body control module and not the combination switch they basically took my girlfriend and I for a ride price gouge a part that could've been bought for $300 cheaper. Then the one employee named Nikki stated to my girlfriend and I that she wasn't gonna deal with us yelling over the phone at them first of all I was halfway across the room living room and I want to make sure that Nicole a.k.a. Nikki knew that I was talking and if she could hear me so we said good night and we went down there then we were confronted by somebody with a beard. who's on video who stated that I was yelling at him when I was not yelling at him. I was just talking very stern to him to try to get my point across but the one mechanic that was actually working on the car is a pretty decent person. I feel bad that he has to work with these people that work at McGill's. All Nikki had to do was go out to the garage part of the building and say hey you have a phone
