Lollyland came out earlier this year and is located in the Palace of Fine Arts next to the pickleball courts. I'm familiar with the Palace Escape Games, but this venue added a nice whimsical and colorful mini-golf experience with an escape room twist to it! The experience can accommodate groups of 2-6 players, takes about 75 minutes or more to play, $30/player, and no experience required. You can make reservations in advance or do walk-in. I first became familiar with Lollyland through social media and thought it looked really cool. When I arrived, Lollyland didn't look as big as I had expected, and I thought maybe there were more courses behind the walls. Unfortunately, there were only 8 holes but what made this place unique is everything was run by tech. You get to select the appropriate club for your height and it notifies you when it's your turn by lighting up. Each hole had a special mission that players can achieve and after completing the hole, the team would receive a secret clue, which will be used later on. As a true Yelp Elite, I read other Yelp reviews stating Lollyland gave free candy. This wasn't quite the case during my visit - they had a vase of Dum Dums, but as soon as those were out, they did not refill them. I asked one of the staff members where the free candy was and they said management changed it and it depends on when they get a shipment. This was disappointing when the mini-golf theme is "Lollyland" and mimics a "Candyland" theme. I docked a star for this and the limited number of courses. It's a great spot to take kids, hang with friends, date night, or spend with family. If any of the staff members read this, please consider expanding the number of courses and incorporating more variety of candy and having it more available as part of the experience. read more

I was very excited at the aspect of mini-golf and escape room. It was a fun experience and it did take about a hour and half to finish (we had a big group) There's 8 holes, with the size and space of the venue, I was hoping to be 18 holes or so. The section you play in is pretty cramped. It's not quite traditional mini golf, it's really more like arcade mini golf. It was a nice fun twist on things. You don't really do some problem puzzles til the very end. Wished there were some more of those elements incorporated into the experience. I also read from some earlier reviews that there was candy and stuff. But I guess too many people took advantage of that. There were no candies when we played sadly :( All in all it was fun. Was looking for last minute things to do near Palace of Fine Arts last Tuesday night and got tickets for mini-golf at Lollyland. Walking in I was a bit underwhelmed at the course, as the indoor space is huge but most of it was empty, and the mini-golf area was only a small corner of the space. The tickets were also ~$30, so was a unsure going into it. However, I was surprised to see all the technology involved in the course. The clubs are electronic and have a screen on top that tells you which course to go to. There's an algorithm designed where it will pick the course with no wait, or the least amount of wait. I loved that we didn't have to wait for most of the courses except when we were at the last two. It also electronically keeps score so you don't have to worry about keeping track. I also loved the creative courses. The mini-golf experiences I had, you're pretty much just trying to get the ball in the hole. Here, there are more challenges involved like a tic-tac-toe board, and trying to guess a phrase, and more. It felt like a different experience to me than a normal mini-golf course. I docked a star because I do think $30 is a little pricey for the experience. There was no food or drinks sold, and the bathrooms are really far down the building. While this was the most unique mini golf experience I've ever had, the $31.88 admission was way too expensive. The venue was very small and indoors. Strangely nothing else was open and the bathrooms were tucked in the back of the building. We showed up a bit early and were allowed to enter before a larger group. Despite this, there was still congestion. There was also little airflow and everything was slightly sticky. There was also a table filled with candy that was accessible at any time. Each hole was well decorated and technology was mostly functional. The balls kept getting stuck but the employees were quick in assisting us. While the graphics looked great, I wished more went into the actual gameplay. The courses were confined to a small area so we practically swung hard and straight repeatedly. This was advertised to have an escape room twist and it felt like a strange add in towards the end. However, I found the that section to be the most exciting and creative. Production value was high but gameplay was lackluster, especially for the high price. Personally I would take my $32 and put it solely into an escape room or mini golf. read more

Came here on a Tuesday night around 6:30, it was pretty dead but still very cute! The staff was super helpful and friendly even though we were the last people there for the night, they explained everything and were very nice. The courses were a little complex to understand given its minigolf and puzzles combined, but once you figure it out, it's a good challenge. The last bit is an escape room which was a surprise but all in all it was a fun spot for a date or just a fun night with friends. Lollyland surpassed my expectations! You dont have to be into mini-golf, escape rooms, or sweets in particular (but it's a plus if you are because they have free candy :D) regardless, you'll have a great time here. Went here for my bf's birthday with some friends. I really wanted to try this place out because I have done a couple of the rooms at Palace Games and Lollyland is a complete 180 from their usual theme. Additionally, it's a popup so I wanted to try it before it potentially goes away! First things first, Lollyland is NOT an escape room! Nor is it a true mini golf hole-after-hole course! It's an overall fun experience that puts your team through fun mini games, team based experiences, and takes typical mini golf to the next level. When I heard the concept of Lollyland I thought "okay mini golf is pretty fun, but what sets this apart from other experiences?" and it's truly the concept, the way the games are curated, the tech with the "booping in" with the clubs, and more. Throughout each hole, you're given clues to solve the final part of the experience which is the escape room-like experience. Your whole experience has a purpose! One-of-a-kind mini golf course at the Palace of Fine Arts. In association with Palace Games Escape Rooms, it involved collecting clues at each hole (about 8-9 holes total) with some riddles thrown in for fun on the screens, and escape room-ish challenges at the finale (two rooms). The mini golf holes were playful and colorful, with the theme all about the sweets (they even had bowls of free candy for participants). Definitely unique, as some of the holes had other games integrated into it... like the Choxolate hole being a game of tic tac toe, or the Sweet Spot hole incorporating a word game (sort of like hangman or wheel of fortune, with players putting to hit letters on the ground). The holes weren't just decorative, many were quite challenging. The golf clubs actually had tiny little screens at the tip which gave instructions for where and when to go. And the signage at each hole was very clear and labeled sufficiently, clear and simple. We didn't encounter any technical issues during our time here, but the staff was readily available to help if needed. They were very prompt with the reservation time, we arrived 12 minutes early, and had to wait or come back at our start time (which resulted in zero wait times on the course itself, so it was timed nicely). There were a couple tables with seating and table/board games available off the course. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and creativity of Lollyland overall. It seemed to be organized and well thought out. Even pop music playing in the background, songs like Maroon 5's Sugar (how fitting). The golf putt itself has your name on it digitally and tells you when it's your turn to putt as well as which golf course to go to next. They also provide you with candy for free. This was a fun way to spend some time with the family (15 and 8 year old approved)! Surprised and delighted was what our party thought. Electronic golfing which makes it impossible to cheat, more interactive and helps queue the crowd. A candy table is available at the entrance to fuel the fun. One thing is that it was a little warm and after slamming candy a drink vending machine should definitely be made available. We just finished and I am so parched. We booked a timeslot at Lollyland for my 11 year old daughter's birthday. It was a fantastic tech-enabled mini-golf experience, with an escape room component at the end. Each hole was original and fun. All the staff members we encountered were friendly, accommodating and helpful. One person from our party came down with COVID and wasn't able to attend. I asked if they could issue a gift certificate/credit ... and to my surprise they refunded the ticket fully to my credit card. Highly recommend Lollyland for families and groups. We went on a work outing to Lollyland, as we had heard it was a new and different kind of minigolf. They did something truly original here. That had to have been the most interesting minigolf course we have ever played. There's tons of added electronics, sensors, and lights to add to the experience. I really wish I could figure out how they got everything to work together so flawlessly - it's quite impressive! Even the golf clubs have led screens and smart functions that interact with the screens. You get to choose a team name and nickname for yourself as well, and the staff move you between courses so you're never stuck waiting for another group to finish a hole. They put a lot of thought into the candy themes of each course, and include mini games within each one. I don't want to give too many details because discovering how to play is part of the fun, but be sure to look in the windows! Highly recommended. read more

Gosh! I was expecting so much more from this experience. For context, it was me, my husband, my 16 year old daughter and her best friend. Friend was visiting from out of town so I scoured the net for something new and exciting to do on a Friday night after work. We live in the east bay, so came across the bridge for this. It did not live up to any of our expectations. When we arrived and I saw how small the venue was, my heart dropped. The 2 teens stared at me in disbelief that this is what we were about to do. But I kept a positive attitude throughout the experience. I do appreciate the fact that unlike most mini golf places there was not a clamor of people waiting for us to finish our turn and at this place it specifically lets you know where to go to keep that cadence. I also like the putts told you who was playing and allowed you to end your turn. The cons: the screens that told the story for each hole was so far away and hard to read. When I read candy themed, I was excited and thought of Willy wonka. It was weird because it was advertised as if it was for older people, but yet the gameplay and concept was very childlike. Each hole just kept getting worse and worse even to the point where we just finished it out quicker than normal to move along and be done with it. I really wanted to love this experience so I could tell family and friends about it. But sadly I will not recommend to anyone. First, this place is located in an awesome spot in SF. It's literally at the Palace of Fine Arts, so you can enjoy not only the game but an iconic land mark. When you come inside you are greeted by friendly staff who go over the way the course works. They also give out free candy treats! The course has originality because every hole is digital - connected to your putter and screens within the course - and the candy shop/candy crush vibe I haven't seen anywhere else. Also at each hole you get to compete in unique putting games with your party, which makes the experience fun and different from other courses. I wasn't planning on writing a review, but after receiving an email from "Cand-E, the virtual, fun-loving, game host" requesting a Yelp Review, I had to oblige. After all, Cand-E asked for it. Lollyland was a real Lollyletdown. I received tickets for an afternoon at Lollyland as a Christmas gift. I'm a big fan of candy, group activities, mini golf and escape rooms, so I was PUMPED to get it started. We had no trouble finding parking and the entrance to Lollyland, but it went downhill from there. First stop, the bathroom. The first stall didn't have toilet paper. The second stall didn't have a toilet seat. The third one didn't have a seat cover but at that point nature was calling and it was time to lower my standards. The disappointments continued as we entered the Lollyland facility. The former exploratorium now feels like a depressing abandond airplane hangar, and with the amount of available real estate, Lollyland's tiny space in the corner was perplexing and underwhelming. The decor felt like a middle school production of Hansel and Gretel, with all the funds spent on the witch's candy house. Not like a super cheap public middle school production, but definitely amateur hour. I will give the Lollyland video team a ton of credit, because that one minute promo clip on the website made it look pretty epic. They aren't just putting lipstick on a pig here; they put a full face of makeup on a naked mole rat. We checked in for our 2:30 reservation at 2:20, but they were having technical difficulties so we had to wait. All the screens appeared to be frozen and the people who had already started their Lollyland adventure had stopped golfing. More time went by, the staff kept saying the system had issues and it was being reset, and I wondered how hard it could be to unplug it all and plug it back in again. We also overheard that the issue had happened during beta testing, so I assume an engineer or two are getting fired or at least had a really unpleasant afternoon of remote troubleshooting. Some of the people who had already started golfing began to bail, while others got comfortable on the benches and ground as they waited to continue. There was one promising moment when a couple of the screens showed a pretty landscape, but they quickly changed to a different screen that read "No Connection Found (are you sure you turned it on?)" Which, if you have to ask that question, seems like it's not going well. After about 20 minutes of waiting, we asked the staff if we could leave and come back in half an hour or so when it was (hopefully) fixed. Unfortunately, they were booked solid for the rest of the day, so even if we waited longer it wasn't clear there would be a slot for us to play. At that point, we got our refund, took a lovely walk around the Palace of Fine Arts, and headed back to the parking lot. It seemed like they still hadn't fixed anything because there were a lot of bored and disappointed folks outside the entrance as we left. Or maybe it was fixed and even after the fact they were bored and disappointed. Could be either. We'll never get those four dollars back of prepaid parking time, but I suppose that's the risk you run when you assume an advertised activity will actually be functional. We drove home, had a cup of hot cocoa and played Uno Flip (great game, 5 stars for that one. A fun twist on regular Uno!). I'm satisfied with the refund, because after seeing how janky Lollyland looked, it ain't worth the gas to drive back up for some underwhelming putt putt. Even if we had played, it really didn't look like much. Lollyland feels like a generous name. More like Lollysmallarea. Or Lollycornerofawarehouse. We got an email that night asking for a Yelp review, which opened with "You must have had fun in Lollyand and I know I was delighted by your play! Well done!" We were excited to try Palace Games's newest offering! Lollyland is definitely the most high tech of the mini golf places in the Bay Area. Everything - from assigning your club to counting strokes to which hole you visit next - is completely electronic so you don't have to hold anything while you play. Overall, the experience was really fun. Lollyland has some creative new takes on mini golf themes (for example, there's one like hangman, but you have to hit your letters!) and we enjoyed the two small puzzles needed to access the final hole. However, and I believe they're aware of the issue, being so heavily tech reliant means sometimes the glitches really affect game play. Our game (and a couple of other groups too) started off with a series of glitches that eventually resulted in a complete reset of the entire mini golf system. After that, the system ran smoothly for most of the way, although there was still a bit of a delay in between each putter's ability to put. All in all, a really fun experience with some glitches that I believe they'll figure out soon! read more

From the moment we walked in, this experience was breathtaking! Me and my wife (40ish) and our 2 kids (ages 6 and 12) had a fabulous afternoon and we were so glad we went. The level of artistry and design in each component really stood out: just taking in all the decorations and set pieces was astonishing. And then the games were creative, novel, exciting new spins on mini-golf (in a couple instances, traditional putt putt challenges). So engaging! We loved CANDE and all the ways the tech smoothly interacted with our game. We were really impressed and we're so glad we went. Highly recommend for families, friend outing, or date night. Great family activity or friends group outing. 2 opportunities for this great venue is to expand to 18 holes- there appears to be the space for it and to offer food/snacks and drinks. the mini golf was pretty good. i think the end took a bit of a turn to dark for little kids as my 7 year old was afraid. the location was ok however i think this could have been in Sacramento as well. pricing was decent for the mini golf. i did not see the other escape rooms that they talked about. the whole experience was better than other mini golf but not that much better for the 2 hr drive there and back. read more
